@@NotSoRandom_ it’s hard to say that because the champ always has a scoring advantage for the judges, so I would say Izzy won because he was champ. If Whittaker was still the champ, he would have beat Izzy. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I see it.
@@NotSoRandom_ I mean, i do think Whittaker gave Izzy the toughest fight recently, and definitely could’ve been argued for a draw. But I do think Izzy did enough to beat him. I do think tho that Whittaker definitely has the potential to dethrone Izzy, besides maybe Pereira.
Interesting observation, I think: Of the top contenders that both Izzy and Robert have beaten compare wins: Vs Tavares: Izzy decision; Rob by finish. Vs Romero: Izzy had an exceptionally boring fight, Yoel seemed to forget why he was there. Robert wars with Yoel, had one clean decision and one that he arguably lost… but nobody had hurt Romero like that. Vs Brunson Both finished him. Vs Gastelum Izzy had took serious damage; Robert clearly outclassed Kelvin. Vs Cannonier Izzy played the safe points game; Robert broke his damn arm. Vs Vettori Izzy has one close decision, one less clear decision. Robert downloaded data for a round then beat the breaks off Martin for two. Rob seems like a great guy and appears to be getting better every fight. I wish him well.
Thing is izzy won all those fights and beat whittaker twice. Doesnt matter how you win, just that you do. Shit ask leon edwards. Izzy is ALWAYS gonna do enough to win as the champ, and doing any more than that, while more exciting, just isnt smart for him.
@@finndropemoff4383 Which is why his legacy will never be as great as Anderson Silva. He will always be remembered as a boring fighter, even if during his run he was actually an exiting fighter Silva will always stay the greatest MW of all time
dumbest statement ever, pls explain? is a decision win not a legitamate win to you? rob beat izzy, look at mmadecisions, the weasle and just watch the fight urself. that is beating the champ.
Nothing but respect for Whittaker. He makes life so much more difficult for Izzy, because unlike Covington, Whittaker takes all those contender matches and knocks every single one of them back down. He may not be able to beat Izzy, but he's damn well making sure everyone else at 185 knows their place is below him.
Bisping lives close to and is friendly with Vettori. He said after the fight Marvin told him that he’d “Never experience that. He just couldn’t get him, he was so slick.” Marvin’s a meathead but he’s a legitimate top 5 middleweight.
@@MiroTheHero7 On a recent episode of the Believe You and Podcast that Bisping does with Anthony Smith. It’s a pretty good show. It line about Martin came up in the video put up right after that fight.
You know how Darren till said those front oblique kicks should be illegal? When they asked Rob about it his response was, “I think they should bring back soccer kicks” (being able to kick someone’s head when they’re down) Gotta love the dude
@@Lohanujuan I mean tbf Till was joking when he said that. Especially since Wonderboy was saying they should be after Till did it to Wonderboy’s bad knee when they fought. And it was like a semi big debate among the mma community too. So it was kind of a play on that lol. But yes still. Gotta love Bobby
The fight with Vittori deserved much better coverage from the commentary team. Rob was doing amazing things in the fight yet the response was underwhelming considering what he was doing to Vittori. No one has done that to Vittori. Rob absolutely schooled him!
💯 ! Bisping has been called out a few times for biast against whittaker , and all those other European commentators .. bisping is lucky he never fought him & GSP faked an injury after sliding into the division beating bisping & vacated the ufc cause he knew Whittaker would have beaten him .. facts that no one speaks about
@@daintreeforrest7348 Hadn't thought about it like that. No doubt Reaper destroys Bisping, but It would be much closer vs GSP. I think GSP was always gonna walk away after the win. If they fought Rob may have got him in the late rounds due to the inactivity of GSP. Would have been great for Robs career win or lose.
INCLUDING THE CHAMP, he's the most dangerous man in the division! Definition of a people's champ, and one of the best middleweights of all time. Those Romero fights were truly crazy at the time. Felt like Bobby did the impossible, and he did it twice.
He’s the only guy in MMA to fight (and beat) Romero twice and is one of the few to do some real, visible damage to that brick of a human. To me, Romero is one of the most intimidating people of all time on the UFC roster. The sense that he was capable of doing life altering damage to someone’s body in a matter of seconds was (and still is) always present.
Rob is not more dangerous than a man who knocked him out twice in one fight. There's a reason people are scared to engage with Izzy, and it's because they know he's going to smoke them if they try.
@@firerbenoit2808 love izzy but Whittaker is definitely a more dangerous matchup for more ppl in the division. Izzy isn’t going for the finish at all anymore, he’s content with point fighting. Whittaker goes in there to do damage and finish fights
He didn't beat him But he is a beast anyway In my opinion one of the best in the UFC and such a cool guy And now he is about to fight Dricus(which he will probably defeat)and the winner of that fight fights Izzy It's official
In my humble opinion Rob is the 185 champ. Although ridiculously close I believe he inched out the victory in the second Stylebender fight, on top of that he’s mopped the floor with everyone else in the division. He truly is the most dangerous/exciting man in the division and the fucking reaper 🔪
@@GoodStuff1992 bruh more than half the time the judges are absolute dog water. How many times have we seen recently were there’s spilt decisions and differing score cards all over the place. I have more faith in Stevie Wonder judging fights than most of the UFC judges 💀💀
@@lucian5389 the mma verdict community also scored it rounds 2,4,5 to Whittaker. Watch the fight again without commentary. I thought Izzy won at first watch too
@@lucian5389 Pleb. You watch that fight without commentary, you’ll see. 2, 4, 5 to Rob. Rob continuously snapping Izzy’s head back with his jab, controlling the pace. The commentary for that fight was woeful, just as it was for Izzy vs Jan. Izzy knew it, watch him after the fight and his reaction in the post fight presser. The anomaly here is that people benchmark Rob’s ability to their first fight, which was the lowest IQ he has EVER displayed in any fight. Guy reset and bought it to Izzy. Izzy avoiding that fight, he isn’t scared, but he’s definitely cautious. Izzy, Rob and Alex are all on par.
To be the champ, you have to BEAT the champ. A close tie doesn’t count. Izzy won both fights, get over it. No one wants to see Rob’s boring ass be champion anyway, Izzy is a much more interesting and entertaining champion who does more for the sport than Rob ever could. Y’all jus hate black men with confidence and style 😂
Bobby Knuckes is one of my favorite fighters of all time. Dude is a true monster. I would love to see a third fighter between him and Izzy. I’m usually not one to let a guy fight the same guy for a 3rd time when he lost to that guy twice already (in championship bouts no less), but Izzy has no other competition. Let Whittaker take that belt back!
@@Kurvveo imagine saying a man that's already beat somebody twice can't do it again..what you think Izzy gonna do,. Blast a Dagestani double on Alex and slap a mounted triangle armbar on on Alex??? This is going down just like the last time. Israel adesanya is going to sleep. All them shots Izzy used to catch on his guard. They getting thru in MMA. That left hand speed of Alex , that Izzy struggles with in kickboxing? It's gonna be faster in MMA. That knockout power that Izzy couldn't eat in kickboxing?? It's gonna be worse in MMA. Alex pierira has been with Glover texeria since he came to the sport.. Izzy won't be mauling Alex on the ground.. but Its more than possible that Alex can maul Izzy on the ground..
Remember to get good rest and recover between hard training. If you're wearing yourself down you lose gains (I'm talking technical development here not muscle mass but that's also true). Keep grinding brother.
Man Darren fought so good during that fight with Rob. I think that was like the healthiest he’s looked during a fight too, hope he can get back to that
I agree man he was lean and motivated. His physique against Brunson was a telling sign that he wasn’t mentally or physically prepared. Hope can get back into his old form
Jacare needed to be included. Before the Whittaker fight he was credited along with Romero as a title challenger and maybe if he had waited he would had the chance but after that loss i think he never got so close again to this.
@@ritxual-8719 I did watch the breakdown nd me personally I don’t think either one of them should’ve won it should’ve been a draw and they should’ve did a third one but in the official UFC record book Robert Whittaker loss
Man you have improved so much! These before and afters feel like a seamless story now. Your quality is top-tier, can't wait to watch you sky rocket to MMA (content creating) greatness.
As soon as Whittaker beats the rest of the top 10, and then beats the rest of the guys rank 10-15, and then beats multiple unranked fighters, and then beats the rest of the guys ranked 1-10 in Light Heavy weight division, UFC ‘might’ think about letting him fight Ngannou for the chance to retain is #1 ranking in the middle weight division. Can’t wait for that journey to unfold 😀
After rewatching the Izzy#2 fight I think Rob won 4/5 rounds. Significant strikes (especially the lead jab) and combined with a takedown in all four rounds. Izzy got in a lot of leg kicks but Rob fought a very smart fight and was very unlucky not to get the decision.
I’ll argue that had Rob fought like that in the 1st fight against Izzy, he’d still be champ. Because you know how they do when it’s a close title fight they usually give it to the champ. Hopefully we see Rob get the gold again but I want to see him beat Izzy for it specifically lol.
After rewatching his second fight with Izzy but without the commentary, Rob definitely won that fight. Dudes a beast and keeps getting better. He’s definitely got a shot at getting that belt back. How many other people do you know that are not only willing to step in to fight a super human like Yoel Romero twice, but skilled enough to beat him twice while injured
I really wish to see Rob get the belt again, not that Izzy's undeserving or lacks the skills but Rob's just such a likable and humble guy, all the while putting explosive performances that bring eyeballs. Adesanya's striking is superb but it feels as though he likes to play the safe game too much and while it is smart, it's not the kind of battle a fan would want to see or respect.
Rob won that second fight 1000% I’ve watched in slowmo with the judges criteria in front of me and he won anyone can watch it in slomo and they’ll see too.Izzy got points for his aura and moving forward but rob was counter striking so should he get points for moving backwards.A leg kick shouldn’t score more than a jab without damage and rob was fully mobile at the end of 5
Depends how you see it. Personally I felt like Adesanya controlled the fight and Rob was rightly very hesitant to engage and was being walked down. To me, it felt like whittaker was under a lot of pressure. I understand your point though cos he got some nice take downs and jabs on blitzes
But I agree Rob won that fight I watched couple times and watched the weasles breakdown and other people who are good for breaking it down and everyone said they thought Rob had done enough
@@GLOBAL-INTIFADA Had Rob fought like that in their 1st fight (being the champ), he’d still have the belt rn. He also could’ve done slightly more in the 2nd fight. Like when he snapped Izzy’s head back with those jabs, he should’ve followed up with right hands. He definitely would’ve scored more and possibly seriously hurt or even KOd Izzy. That being said, I still thought he did enough. Hopefully Rob gets that belt back, either by fighting Alex or in a 3rd fight with Izzy.
Thank you for posting this bro.. Bobby knuckles does not get the respect he deserves He’s a modern day GSP , ultimate mma artist (inside & outside the cage )of our generation& his second fight with style bender could have been given to him , especially the way judges are these days . There’s no denying Whittaker will avenge his title in the trilogy.. watch how Whittaker destroys his opponents completely where Izzy just does enough point wise & defensively.. joe rogan , DC , Bisping do not give this guy his dues .. watch this space as the reaper returns to take souls & get his strap back
Bobby Knuckles should be on the pound for pound list all the fighters that he has fought he has one except for Israel but he will claim his belt once again he has showing what he has and what he could do it's all in his favorite so I know Bobby Knuckles will be champ once more
*"The Reaper keeps on digging holes and taking souls and on top of that he is the nicest guy in the building"*. There can't be any better description of Robert Whitaker! Otumfour Kojo Agyemang
I love Rob but I am terrified for him if he went up against someone like Alex Pereira. That man is dangerous and I can definitely see that hook landing on Rob.
Rob won the second Izzy fight. That's my opinion, hate me for it I don't care. He was the aggressor, landed the harder strikes and had more Cage Control. If that's not enough than explain to me how Rose lost her belt, how Moreno lost his Belt.
That Romero uppercut on Rockhold is still one of the must brutal KO's I've ever seen. Whittaker is definitely one of the most likable dudes in the UFC, hope he gets the undisputed title one day.
His rematch with Izzy should’ve been a draw tbh. Mama needs more draws. Maybe 4 judges, so fighters gotta win decisively instead of cruising/point fighting.
Oh boy...I just clicked here... I'll enjoy this. THE REAPER! Perfect name for this masterpiece of a fighter. Edit: He is not on the P4P list?!.. HOW!?...he is the best non-champion fighter in the company!
I recently saw a video when he was on the ultimate fighter and he looked like he was just a baby but he hadn't even at that young age. Keep up the great work
@@jasonharding8750 indeed. Considering Rob was born in NZ his old man is probably kiwi then. So wheres the aussie ancestry come from??? Nowhere that i can see. Ayssie upbringing for sure, but not ancestry
I love this behind the Scene look at fighters and what it takes to actually be an MMA fighter. your whole life revolves around training eating etc. It takes a special person to do this. Right now I am an old woman and don't have much motivation lol but even back in the day. I couldn't have this kind of dedication.❤
The second fight with Adasanya was close. I had Rob winning 3 rounds like many other people. The story was most about Robs stiff Jab vs Adasanya’s Leg kick. I thought Robs Stiff Jab should have been more damaging then Adasanyas leg kick. Rob was still moving around with no problem after eating them. And I just think in general that a head strike should be more awarding then a leg kick I general. As there have been very few TKO leg kick finishes in the UFC. While head strikes has the biggest finish rate. Also it’s easier to land a leg kick then a stiff Jab. Especially those touchy ones that Adasanya does with verry low power In them.
Rob is just sensational. Given how a lot of people thought he beat Adesanya and how limited Pereira might be when it comes to a more well rounded fighter than Izzy, Robert might well be the best middleweight on the roster currently, and hopefully soon he has a chance to prove it.
Both Whittaker and Adasanya are levels above of everyone else in the division, it's unfortunate that many people fail to understand how much of an elite fighter he is because no matter what he does his legacy is overshadowed by his 2 loses to Izzy. Izzy is always one step ahead of him but both of them are running laps past the division.
Love Bobby Knuckles, such a great role model and athlete. A true warrior who deeply respects his craft. Hopefully he gets the belt back, he's had to climb middleweight mountains time and again and he deserves it.
