Strange that all the so called star actors never mention the pay gap between them and the jobbing actors.

Actors make too much money. Regular Americans can not relate to Hollywood.

Jessica Ophelia the conversation is about women in all businesses not being paid fairly. I can relate to that and don’t have to be a working actor. They can relate if they are. It’s about the difference in pay based on gender.

if women are really earning less for the same work, why would a company hire men? explain that to me
@goobertoober273
@goobertoober273 6 лет назад
Chuck Sta. Maria Wage payment is a leading loss of profit So only hiring women would save them 23% in wage payment
@goobertoober273

mysterychemistry no it’s because of the women’s choices. They choose to go into things like nursing and foster care which pay terrible while men choose stem based jobs which pay more.

mysterychemistry that’s exactly what I said and statistics show it

If Oprah ran for president of the US, it wouldn't make sense for her to have rival candidates. It would be over.

Its so sad when people think television stars would make good public officials... Hasn't Ronald Reagen or Arnold Schartsecwhocares taught you anything?

so by oprah having mostly female employees, that is not discrimination based on gender?
@alyciacooper2
@alyciacooper2 8 лет назад
+roter13 No, it's talk shows, reality shows, which female producers tend to gravitate to. I know. I used to be one. Now, if Oprah ran a construction company and didn't hire males, then, you'd have a point.
@alyciacooper2

calm down. She's one person.
@nonayobizness
@nonayobizness 8 лет назад
+roter13 Not necessarily. You don't know how many men applied for the jobs at OWN and HARPO or how many were qualified. I'd be willing to bet the overwhelming majority of job applicants are women. What is clear is that women still make 75 cents for every $1 a man makes for the exact same work and THAT IS discrimination and bias.

@rumandcoke32

+Carolina Sousa Can you explain why?
@coisinhasbanais
@coisinhasbanais 8 лет назад
"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women’s salaries vis-à-vis men’s have risen dramatically since the EPA’s enactment, from 62% of men’s earnings in 1979 to 80% in 2004.[21] Nonetheless, the EPA’s equal pay for equal work goals have not been completely achieved, as demonstrated by the BLS data and Congressional findings within the text of the proposed Paycheck Fairness Act"

Basically, there's still some work to be done.
@rumandcoke32

+Carolina Sousa That's a very nice response but it doesn't answer my question. If it is a federal crime to pay women less than how is it still happening?

I guess it's wrong to pay a male mechanical engineer with a BA and 20 years of experience more than a female engineer with a BA and 2 years experience.

The Wage Gap is referring to both the man and women have equal educations and skills yet still getting paid 30% less than men. I posted several links for light reading where you can find facts above.

Lawrence, by her own admission, did not receive the money her counterparts received because she failed to negotiate properly. HER fault not Hollywood's. Please ladies stop acting behaving like children and take responsibility for yourselfs. Sincerely humanity

people are talking about this because Bernie Sanders pushed the issue. ...like minimum wage, climate change, veterans' rights, money in politics, etc. ...Bernie Sanders is ALREADY leading this country in a better direction.
