I purchased this product at the end of September and it was back ordered and didn't arrive until the 3rd of December. But it was definitely worth the wait. It was easy to assemble and relatively lightweight. I took it with me on a photo shoot last weekend to give it a test out. I brought along a Godox LED 100 and my AD400 strobe. I used the constant LED initially and then switched to the strobe. I was blown away with the results just using the spot without a gobo, just the fins. The light was crisp and I shaped the light easily. Kudos to Lindsay and Westcott for creating an unbelievable light modifer!

Whew, I sure would like one of these kits to pair with my FJ400. But $500 🙁 maybe one day I will be able to grab one. Would be nice to get some different looks in my studio versus the typical headshots. Thank you Lindsay for all your videos and tutorials on lighting, I do learn quite a bit from you.

@5:43 scam. You say you can purchase different mounts to put it on different lights but after contacting Westcott directly I was told that the different mounts are considered a part and are not available for purchase separately.

Mine finally came this weekend. Definitely a learning curve to this thing! But the possibilities are very exciting. Got some cool shots first time out! I will note that if your studio is small you're probably going to want to use a wider lens if you want to get a pattern on the background big enough. I don't have room to back much but my 24-105 did the trick beautifully. It's crazy the amount of precision you can get with this thing!

If i buy an adapter to use Sony lenses on the lens, what lenses would you recommend to use on the end that would work best? I only shoot with primes and have everything from 14mm-135mm.

great presentation. Looking other products, i was confused needing to purchase additional 50, 65mm lenses, and the poor gobo drawing we seem to have with godox ak-r21. So, if i understand, we can use it on any godox V,, ad100pro, ad200pro, ad300pro and ad400pro with bowens S2 bracket but also on contnous light godox ML60bi, SL200W,... ? 650 euros in belgium for your kit. Do you confirm it uses a 150mm F/3.5 ? no need to change it ?

I’m ready to purchase the optical spot now but I have some questions. I wanted to make sure I have enough studio space for the 105mm however I shoot Nikon. Will I have to purchase a canon Lens is it possible to adapt my Nikon lens. If I can’t adapt my lens then what canon lens would you suggest to light up the entire back ground for the EF mount. Thank you.

Since the lens mount is Canon EF compatible, could EF-S lenses be used? And will using EF-S lenses change the degree of light spread in any way?

Yes! It’s compatible with most EF lenses, the lens placed on the spot will completely change the light spread. So wider lenses give you a wider spread, longer lenses give you a tighter light beam.

I think it won't work personally. The light occupies a 35mm sized circle. So about 60% of the light will be blocked out with an EF-S lens, but the problem is not the lack of light. I would say the 60% of heat hitting the area around the lens elements that might heat up the lens itself. In normal Canon use, you can use EF lenses onto a crop EF-S, but not put a crop EF-S lens onto an EF-mount full frame camera.

@@WestcottLighting lighting Do you think the Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens would work? I shoot Nikon and made the mistake of ordering a 50mm EF STM lens for the optical spot. I'm looking for a budget ef wide lens.
