WARNING: Drilling, routing, or otherwise making holes anywhere in your chest freezer except the lid has a risk of puncturing the evaporator and condenser lines that run through the wall. Some of them are very close to the top of the trip.
UPDATE: I have one report of someone hitting and damaging a chiller line in the top trim.
Since my first chest freezer cold plunge setup back in July of 2017, I have recommended that holes be drilled through the lid or passed under the lid to get wires, cables and tubes inside.
In this video, you'll learn about the pros and cons of other options:
- drilling a hole in the plastic trim around the top
- drilling a hole through the wall
- using a router with two different kinds of bits to create a groove in the top of the trim.
