Shame on you for risking the ball python just for the sake of a picture... I don’t even care that you’re risking your own life by having a king cobra (to each his own) but you know damn well that cobra would’ve eaten the ball python if he wanted to... Ophiophagus literally means “snake eater.”
Lmao, I was thinking the same thing. That any life insurance policy on this guy would be completely denied. Sadly, what he’s doing it’s only a matter of time before he makes a deadly mistake.
King Cobras are actually among the smartest reptiles on the planet. They're smarter than some mammals. So I'm not surprised it was mellow and tolerant of being handled by a human it is familiar with. He knew his handler wouldn't hurt him. Although I have a feeling this guy is cranky if you wake him from a nap, lol.
Glad to know that you both have the ability to get completely inside this reptile’s head and predict his every move. The rest of us should be so talented...
I'm not 'in its head', I am just knowledgeable of the species and its typical behavior. It's pretty obvious that this snake is used to being handled by how docile it is. The bit about a nap was just a little bit of humor. Lighten up buddy.
Actually he is very intelligent. One of the most intelligent people alive on the topic of snakes. Hes smart enough to predict behavior and wouldn't handle a snake that doesnt want handled. Research more about venomous snakes too. Many snakes don't inject venom first bite. I've witnessed multiple people bit by copperheads and cottonmouths without ever getting venom from it. The snake is more afraid of you then you are of it. They would much rather get away from you than try to bite you and risk you trying to harm it.
Definitely is not venomoid. But being interested in a lot of creatures I believe we do t give the respect and insult their intelligence a lot. I have seen multiple king cobras act certain ways that were captive born and kept by the same person. Then you watch a wild cobra act and it’s completely different. Hell there’s a video of a guy calling a pair of rattlesnakes to him
Maybe the snake isn't venomous or it's not a King Cobra. Perhaps someone can correct me on this but he handles the snake with impunity like there's no fear. Something didn't add up.
@@rmcommando84 It's definitely a King Cobra and it's definitely venomous. This guy is just confident in what he does. Even though he's been bitten by venomous snakes, he's still been very lucky.
Louis Jakiel I have never seen a classical guitarist with nails that! Long. As a classical guitarist myself, I have long nails but nowhere near as close to this guys nails. Soooo.... hmmm
Wow what a calm soul in that King. Wow he looks so enchanted by the touch and his eyes are extremely clear like he does not care he is being touched under the chin and top of his head.
Oracle is not de-fanged he is just one of the most chilled snakes Chris owns, even when he's agitated he doesn't bite he just will tap you with his nose.
David I think Oracle really likes you, he is such a beautiful snake, every time he comes up on a video I just have to watch, stunning is about all I can say. Chris you have one awesome snake there, no wonder David wants to visit you, mind you I think David’s Cobra is pretty wonderful as well. Thanks for a great video guys, Cheers from Australia
That is a gorgeous snake, and so good natured. He's clearly been handled a great deal and is shockingly well socialized for a cobra to boot. Most of them hate to be handled but this one seems totally calm and fine with it. A lot of people sadly don't realize that snakes are individuals and just because this snake is cool with handling they assume that all of them will be. I wager it's taken a great deal of work to get him to that point, and you have my serious respect for putting the effort in .
I AGREE!!! The snake appears unwell. It looks like it's been dip dyed, too. Plus, it's missing many scales. Like it is stressed and rubbing off its scales. They will do that. It is sluggish because the owner did something to cool it down. Like removing it's heat source to make it lethargic. I'm so angry about this...
albert Zaccone the handler is not the owner, and Chris the owner, takes extremely well care of Oracle. I follow him on instagram and he treats all of his snakes right. Oracle was injured before he received him as a rescue.
They are, at least when around humans. There's also the fact it takes a lot of energy to make concentrated venom, so they prefer to use it for prey than predators. That's why they growl when facing a larger animal.
I'm just amazed by how calm that snake is, it's the real boss of this video for pardoning the lives of the two fools mishandling a deadly and beautiful creature like it.
I get how he’s good at handling but OP is right in that eventually they get bit handling like that. It’s just a matter of when. And if he’s been bit before it’s just a matter of when next time
Linda Thompson ; a KING cobra - yeah, he's nuts, longest venomous animal in the world, with enough of a yield on a solid bite to drop a full grown elephant....
well to be fair, this snake seems quite familiar with being handled, and despite a couple major mistakes, the snake was very tolerant and eventually calmed down. if you do not give it a reason to bite you,it wont bite.
Beautiful color and amazing snake! I’ve never seen one not aggressive as this one - it’s the handlers calm energy that he/she is feeling so it doesn’t feel defensive. Thank you for sharing 🤗👍
King Cobras behave so intelligently compared to other snakes. You can tell that they’re really taking in their surroundings. Almost feels like you can sense their thoughts.
I had a 15 footer called King. Everytime I'd walk in a room that he was in, he would rear up about 7 foot off the floor and tilt his head looking down at me. He was letting me know that he was the king of the cave.
@@rollthelosingdice Assuming there was something to 'stand' on, they could. Maybe like a dresser/cabinet or something, in which case, the hell you letting a cobra loose in that environment? Even if it's calm, that's tantamount to russian roulette with a gun you can't see if it's in a bad mood
@@doggiegirl694 for the sake of the cobra I'll rather believe that he isn't venomoid... also I respect the guy a lot, maybe the scars are from past injuries? you know, being farm raised...
I don’t know about whether it’s defanged or had its venomous glands out .. but the dude is handling it in a manner where it’s calm....props for that ...normally if you piss off a cobra , the hissing is more intense and they fan out their hood to make themselves look more intimidating...which then explains why he feels the snake is not in the mood to strike !!!
Exotics Lair he must of handled it a ton as a baby cause it don’t mind being held at all. Idk why he wants to “pet it” I don’t think the snake was liking that
Here in South East Asia... King Cobras are notorious for killing any large land mammals, Even the hunters/keepers with decades of handling this mighty serpents always receives love bites... better make sure you have anti-venom nearby.
Most classical guitar players grow the nails out on their pick hand only. It's not uncommon, weird, or scary. Maybe this kid has a different reason, but it's kind of ridiculous to be creeped out by something that so commonly has a practical use.
IS a respiratory infection. These degenerates don't know how to handle a snake. Also, definitely defanged, otherwise that filthy thing would have been bitten by now.
Excuse that comment my text-to-talk is stupid you call his fingernails vampire nails that's why the snake does not bite him he's in fear at the Prince of Darkness himself
It amazes me that more people in the comments are upset about a man having long finger nails than free handing a cobra like it’s a puppy. Why does anyone care how another person wears their nails?
For u idiots who know nothing about these snakes, he wouldn’t pull it out and handle it like this if he didn’t trust it and know how to handle the snake... if he is such a bad “handler” tell me how’d u do it and why he hasn’t got bit yet??? People like u in this world are pathetic
I don't know anything about snakes, but some people are saying it is a venomoid (even though it says it's not in the description), apparently it has the scarrs visible on its head. I imagine this means the venom sacks have been removed. Let's be honest, this snake is responsible for the most deaths in the world. I don't think this kid would be handling like this if it still could kill.
Steve Sheppard totally understandable but I’ve honestly never heard of removing the venomous sacks cause venomous keepers normally “milk” their snakes for venom and send it off to labs for testing and also keeps the snakes venom sacks not so full so if it did bite it wouldn’t release as much venom, but that’s not true if u check out Chandlers Wildlife he handles his 14ft cobra, anyways my point is people jump to conclusions bashing people when they have no knowledge or history of wok get with these animals u know but anyways check out chandlers wildlife and let me know what u think he is very experienced and knowledgeable about these venomous species, people get bit cause they don’t pay it it’s respect it deserves, most bites happen from non experienced people trying to kill them or capture them to be killed, these snakes are just as important as any other predator or prey on this earth same as u and me we all have a role for this earth
Using that bp as a "prop" was such a shit thing to do, and then saying some bull like 'if he bites it you buy it!' Snakes are so much more than just items you buy, they're living, breathing animals and should be treated as such. Also that ball python is in fact alive... You can see the snake flick it's tongue when he picks it up the second time.
Dee Dish I'm not saying him feeding the ball python to the cobra was bad what I was saying was that him using the Python as a prop was a bad move. I said absolutely nothing about actually feeding the Ball Python to the Cobra, or even what the Cobra ate, as a matter of fact. Perhaps you should've read my comment a bit closer and you would have realized this.
You make Indian snake handlers look like they're apprentices! Just becareful, brother, and best of luck to you. I totally understand your passion, as I once did the same.
SoCal Chris No I think this David this guy is more risky. He handles many species that are all venomous by hand even ones he finds in the wild. This is just tempting fate. I hope he carries antivenom with him.
A friend of mine had a Monocle Cobra that he would free hand like that. His girlfriend's camera flash went off...he got tagged bc the flash spooked it(he lived). Its just a matter of time before something like that happens to you. Then we suffer bc they make more regulations bc of you. Regulations don't fix stupid
Something tells me this dude doesn't have a starter dose of antivenom to bring to the hospital with him, an EpiPen in case of an allergic reaction, nor a toxicity expert on call who the ER physician (who surely has never dealt with a king cobra bite) can consult when it comes to actually dealing with the bite and its symptoms. I'm all for the expansion of the venomous hobby, and I know that this snake seems relatively docile, but it's still an unpredictable wild animal. One of my (non-venomous) snakes bit me for the first time a couple weeks ago. I've had him for years, and he's always been very shy and docile. Putting a ball python next to it and getting it into feeding mode is beyond idiotic.
how long is Oracle? I love these snakes I've seen your video many time I'm surprised how relaxed he is and he trusts you to handle him what dose he feel like I've never touched an snake before.
King Cobras specifically have the attitude "if it's too big to eat and it's not a threat then don't waste venom on it". Mambas on the other hand believe "if it's there and within reach bite it"
Not sure what you mean, if you're saying that the king cobra is not bighting because it's then I believe you are mistaken, I have seen many a video taken out doors in the king cobras regular haunts at midday when temperature is not an issue and even then they are reluctant to bite if they don't feel threatened.
Hi David I’m new to your channel and really enjoy your vids, stay safe and keep herping! Quick question bru, is there a reason you grow your nails long on one hand?
Ok, I have a cat who is intelligent and tame, but when I laugh at her, she still nips at me. She doesn't try to hurt me, or draw blood, but after all, she is a cat. Not a snake
@Josh Hurley Yeah, can tell from the pap of him dropping down. That said, when that happens most animals, especially less docile and wild ones, will tend to get agitated pretty quick, but while he was being handled by the kid he was quite calm. I was most worried about his behavior with the camerman who he obviously was not fond of.
I'm shocked...that's not a ball python...that's a deadly cobra...stop scratching his chin like it's a danm cat. Who's waiting for the "he got bit r.i.p" video?
I've had snakes for 30 yrs (all non venomous). I have tamed, if that's the right word the most vicious of the bunch. If handled consistently they seem to stay that way. However, You are so young and you're putting your life on the line every time you handle him. Please rethink what you're doing. You're life is more valuable than your love of the snake. Don't let your heart override your head on this one.
please do not think cobras are ''calm'' they are beautiful yes but they are a top 5 most dangerous snake in the world and shouldnt be handled like this. This guy is crazy and this is how people get tagged.
RR SnakeCatchers if you put yourself in a position where you can't possibly react enough to avoid a bite, that's foolish. Holding the snake you're trying to get him to strike is extra foolish. How can you see nothing wrong with it
Jeff trying to get it to bite? Haha ok. This is an intelligent king cobra, it isnt gonna waste venom on a large human it cannot eat. he wouldnt smell like snakes or rodents either. Education goes a long way i wouldnt be commenting shit when your out of your element. I spose you cant tell how calm this snake is and cant read body language etc. Theres always a 1% chance lf being tagged though. A king wont kill u but will certainly ruin your day.
All I can see here is a young man who is convinced that HE won't die. That every time he takes this gamble, his luck will hold. And this animal will kill him, and likely pay for it with its life, to the detriment of the entire herpetoculture hobby. I'll not convince him, or anyone else, of this, but it couldn't be more clear in this video. This animal will kill him one day. Not because it's vicious, not because it's aggressive, but simply because any animal with teeth can bite, and have a bad day, and this man takes liberties with it which are not justifiable. Because this snake is not a ball python. Its temperament is clearly not entirely docile or tame. (And people are bitten by ball pythons every day). This man is addicted to adrenalin and likely feels he's won a battle and conquered the world every time he doesn't die. He's not ignorant of his danger -- only of the inevitability of his losing this gamble. I could be wrong. Suicide may in fact be his plan. This could be Russian roulette. But either way, this is certainly not to be admired. I hope he grows up and realizes life is worth living, and best practices for handling hots becomes a priority, but I fear this will not end until it ends badly.
Donna Fernstrom this takes me to one point. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I love snakes, especially venomous. In my younger days I pulled cowboy stunts holding and touching animals for no other reason than to get the rush of doing it. I'm much much older, and wiser now. Hopefully this young man will survive his youth and see the error in his ways. I'm grateful I did.
I'm glad to find a comment that brings up a truly important and valid criticism. Contrary to all the "bambi effect" / unscientific anthropomorphisation -related delusions aimed against/in favor of the handler for both the perceived risk the ball python was exposed to and the alleged tameness/ "obedience" of the king cobra, you point out the true loss this type of venomous reptile keeping/handling will inevitably lead to: the loss of credibility of NORMAL exotic animal keepers, which usually goes hand in hand with government-imposed bans and restrictions and generally with an undeservedly bad press for the innocent rest of us... Having glimpsed in other of this channel's videos, it is clear that the handler has some derangements - including death-wish perhaps. Anyhow, neither keeping nor handling (i. e. maintainance of) venomous reptiles necessitates this type of cuddling and risk-taking. It surely makes these people look "special" and "competent", as if the fingernails and the hairdo weren't a dead giveaway of this man's exceptional "talent" in snake whispering, yet it will only mislead young inexperienced and impressionable audience and further alienate opponents of exotic pet keeping. Steve Irwin is (was) a fitting example... shouting DANGER, DANGER, DANGER, trying to interact with animals at all costs, flipping them upside-down, touching them, holding them. Or the polar opposites: mouthkissing and cuddling deadly venomous reptiles with an unworldly facial expression of the lotus-eaters... because potentially deadly dangerous animals are so cute and they need to be loved in a human way... This here video: decadence and derangement meets anthropomorphisation + bambi effect... = self absorbed pseudo intellectual grandiosity with a skewed subjective reality. And thanks to youtube it propagates itself. Problem is: being spared by mere luck from the real-world consequences up until that very mistake that will cost him his life gives him plenty of opportunity to promote this reckless behaviour. And this video is categorized as "education" by the uploader... Sadly, explaining this to people like the young man in the video and his fan base is like throwing peas against the wall... The world needs more people like David Attenborough and Gerald Durrell; as for the snake world: guys like in the Venom Interviews!
Well said!! It reminds me of the snake handler churches!! It is Russian Roulett with snakes!! He is simply not in reality and this is Narcissism!! I hope that one day he will come to his senses and realize that life is a precious gift and his may be gone too soon!
There is not a snake handler period who would ever agree to handling this snake the way he is even if it has glands removed this show complete ignorance and gives people who handle venomous snakes properly a bad name
You can't really tame snakes. Even viperkeeper who has many more years of experience dislikes freehandling just so you can say you freehandled[insert snake species] here. This is totally irresponsible and an accident waiting tohappen.
Christian Brown it's not the fact if he got bit or not this is ignorance and with that being from my experience of seeing handling snakes etc etc the most dangerous cobra is the one that doesn't good at all when being handle strike range is infinite then
yea but your basing venomous handling on fear. it is like a pit bull if I do not think it will bite then they know and behave so they can not be harmed. I do venmous handling not a king cobra but still I understand kindof the idea of a good handle the snake did not want to bite nor do i think it has venom.
No viperkeeper is afraid because on early on bites supposedly. I may not have as much venom experience but the idea of a pit bull or a big snake is similar, if you are afraid and they do not understand they bite, and i have way more experience with exotic animals then either one. If you know the snake and are doing something for it they are fine. Just like most animals.
