Setting up my pair of Red Spitting Cobras (Naja pallida)! Sorry about the poor audio quality, I'm working on that. Thanks for watching and subscribe please!
David, I have owned venomous snakes for better than 25 years. Please rethink free handling them. They are wild and will always be wild,I don't care how many generations you have bred. At some point you WILL be bitten and in all likelihood won't be able to fully understand why. Safety David, safety.
@@rickyretic that's really neat, if you don't mind me asking what got you into keeping them? Research reasons? Just a love for them? I love these animals too, and although I would never even THINK about owning one, I am just so interested in them. Sorry to ramble
AcTUALLY, dumbass, the correct way to handle a spitting cobra & ALL other cobras is JUST like David did it: 1. he moved slow, because he knows cobras react to MOVEMENT, when they are deciding if you are a threat or not. 2. He cLEARLY says point blank: "...these cobras aren't used to me being their handler yet, and UNTIL they are, I don't trust them..." 3. If you'll go back & re-watch, you'll see that when he opens the top box, and the female started huffing at him - she was giving him a WARNING - these snakes don't just flash you willy-nilly. When he backed off for a minute, she calmed down & quit puffing at him. If he had IGNORED the warning, then she would've followed thru with a strike.
@@SIyMarbo bi*ch, please - I've been extracting venom from cobras with AVRI since 2006. We make them bite the cup every 14 days & I handle them in between the milkings. That means I've been handling cobras & vipers for over 15 years & never been bit, jack@ss. But since YOU think you know so much, how bout you tell us how you would save someone who gets a cape coral bite, since currently there is NO antivenom made for THAT species... If you don't have an answer, then STFU until you do!!!...
@@lunaokittens9574 Good comeback. But i think the original coment was more about : Don't free handle venomous snakes if you don't have expericens. Or like don't get/own a venomous snake at all if you're not trained. There are people out there who would look at david and go: thats easy i can do that. But they realy can't and in a matter of seconds we have a new scandle because someone who didn't know a thing about snakes thought he could free handle a cobra.
4 real all of you! DONT MAKE FUN OF HIM! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE. IM GAY 100%. AND HE MIGHT NOT EVEN BE BISEXUAL NOR GAY, HE JUST LIKES TO HAVE LONG NAILS. YOU PEOPLE SHOULD THINK BEFORE OPENING THE HOLE UNDER YOUR NOSES.
Aaron Sawicki I didn’t see anyone call him gay. That’s not even the point, no one cares if he is or isn’t the discussion is the nails and how he handles certain snakes lmao. Lack of self control with these animals don’t make happily ever after.
yep. When i see his videos come up, I open them solely for the purpose of disliking them. Completely irresponsible. And setting a bad example to people (especially children) on how to handle venomous snakes
Love this guy. Always stays so calm n just does it all so smoothly. N just a crazy knowledgeable n good dude who'll go anywhere to follow his passion. My hat is off... 🎩
i just found your channel . i am fascinated! I own a couple of nonvenomous snakes that I absolutely adore! your enclosures and collections are stunning!
I am an experienced snake handler and this is the most foolhardy situation one can imagine. I do hope he has a substantial life insurance policy if and when he has kids.
Usually I do not give any importance to others comments but this time I read below because I was hipnotizad by the finger nails then by the snakes. Finally my conclusion is who care about nails! your handling and coolness is so amazing and the way you show respect and gentleness for the snakes is just beautiful. You got a subscriber and my thumbs up!
LimbicGuitar Amen brother!!! WTF is wrong with these gender fluid millenials today?? Prob got his ass kicked in high school every day for being such a weirdo
The problem Isn't his knowledge - the guy KNOWS how to read body language. But I think a lot of people don't like how he just snatches a deadly snake up off the ground. Could u imagine a 7 year old watching 1 of his vids, thinking it's ok, & then trying to snatch up a rattlesnake like that? I think that's what a LOT of people are worried about... I can't knock him, because I free handle every day. But he shouldn't do all the damn selective editing - he should show the WHOLE thing. Like how they strike at him until they calm down. That way people KNOW that it's not a joke to free-handle. That's the ONLY issue I've ever had with this guy. & when you make him mad, rather than reply, he just deletes whatever hurt his wit.tle fweel.ings or blocks you. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ Seriously, if you think you're smart enough to free handle some of the deadliest snakes in the world, you should have enough balls to talk to people or let comments stand... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Him getting mad & doing a vid where he was wearing a shirt that said "it's still ok to free handle" speaks for itself. Shows he got mad about people pointing shyt out. Boo hoo... If U want to bandstand with deadly snakes, then grow the fk up... 🤦♂️💀
Can't you handle your venomous snakes in a way your family and friends won't have broken hearts for the remainder of their lives? There is nothing ballsy or heroic in what you are doing.
People who handles venomous reptiles in this way don’t do it because they want attention or because they think it makes them look cool. They do it out of the passion they have for keeping venomous reptiles and are experienced enough to where they can read the animals behavior and judge in what way they can handle that animal at that time. I will be doing similar things to what’s in this video when I get my permit to keep elapids, not because I’m trying to be a hero but because I’m fascinated and have a love for snakes. And to get that permit (at least in Florida) you have to have 1000 hours of experience with the family of snake you want to keep before you can have the permit. So you will be very well experienced and will most likely be able to judge the animals behavior when you have enough hours to get your permit. No hate or anything lol I just don’t want people to think that venomous keepers do it because they want attention or want to feel better then others
fl_flipping I don’t think he was talking down about how he has venomous animals. I believe he was talking about the specific risks this guy was taking in the manner in which he was handling them. There were several sketchy moments that could have been avoided.
Brett Rose yeah man I completely agree with you, I didn’t think he was talking down about it at all lol I was just saying the guy in the vid is probably about to read the animals behavior and make the decision on how he should handle it, I didn’t mean to sound aggressive or anything lol just was saying that a lot of people who keep things like elapids are very good at reading animals and do it out of the love for it. I hope my comment didn’t come off like I was upset or something 😂
It also puts unnecessary burden on the snakes. Handling them this way makes it more likely he will drop and hurt the snake if it strikes at him. It's not cool at all nor is it educational in any manner. These animals need to be treated with actual respect(not just taking "good care" of them. It's more than that.) and in a manner so their dignity is intact. It's just, I dunno for lack of a better word, cringy.
Jocelyn Eva Seagreen def get ya. A girl wouldn’t appreciate him but he’ll be all set to gently scratch his B/F’s (ah never mind, grossing myself out). Thinking the nails are a tool for the snake handling, so I’ve read.
@@ElectricWitch44 he went to some strict school for a while and they didn't let him have any nail white (whatever you call it). So it was an act of defiance I guess.
The setup in the tank is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I HOPE the skull dont get knocked off, by DORA the EXPLORER! And like a penny from the tower, BONKS a passerby!
They didn’t spray you or bite today but unless you get it in writing from them that they will not harm you, take more precautions and use a hook. They will never be your friends.
I love seeing free handling it's amazing, maybe it's not so wise but its awesome to watch and it seems like you know what you're doing. Great nails btw 👍
@@robertjorgensen6209 lol I just said it's not so wise, But if you look up the definition of amazing you'll get why I said that. And if it wasn't interesting you wouldn't have clicked on his video.
@@robertjorgensen6209 I never claimed it's ok and would never attempt it I've working with snakes at my shop for 11 years and still don't own a venomous snake and not planning to
The nails are distracting. Sometimes classical guitarists will let their nails grow out freakishly long on one of their hands in order to get a better tone on their guitar. David reminded me of them.
Question do you feed them in separate aquariums cuz I heard if you feed them in the same environment they live in what time you reach your hand and we'll try to bite you if I'm right correct me if I'm wrong
@@markschaefer8760 you make no sense. Only children with bad parents free handle venomous snakes. So that would exclude us adults from doing such a foolish and unnecessary act.
Stating the obvious, as most snake handlers will, using equipement or not.. They just have made their peace with it, and this is the way they feel they control the snake the best.. And it works
@@danhansen9921 : Not all the time! There is something inherently wrong with this young man's disregard for his own safety. There's no doubt that he is intelligent, nor that he has exceptional abilities. However, in any risky line of work, common sense accompanies intelligence. He has an interesting persona, similar to that of Karl Wallenda, Evil Knievel, and Robbie Knievel. We all know how tragically their lives played out. I am aware that each man knew, and understood, the risk factor in their professions. At least they practiced and trained before each performance. Snakes are not tight ropes, or motorcycles. Each snake (venomous or not) is different and can shed that docile label, even if it is momentary. That is all it takes.......a moment. Going into the snake's domain, often extremely isolated, and handling highly venomous snakes, goes beyond risky. That behavior is borderline.......especially if there is no known antiven. I don't know about you, but I don't want to open my lap top one day and read where this young man lost his life. You stated, he can "be at peace with it" and he obviously is. But there is no such thing as suicide by snake.
@@danhansen9921 Exactly. I had no idea how prevalent freehandling is until the videos on RU-vid. Pretty much all of them milk their snakes, they are changing perceptions about snakes and contributing to science. Some of them are downright heroic, imho.
@@edwardmunson3896 well we’ve seen that many reptiles handlers who’ve had over 30 years of experience have been tagged before. It just goes with the territory. You take on that risk. Even with doing everything almost perfect, 99% perfect we’ll say, you still have that 1% it’s gonna happen and it’s been proven it can.
@@gameroftheyear1000 Please understand that I am not a "handler," but I am a proponent of saving all of the snakes that can be saved. I am truly fascinated by David's Feed, he is almost mesmerizing. I do think he takes unnecessary risks and it scares me. Now, I am in total agreement with you. You obviously are much more familiar with the "ins and outs" of handling. I believe you feel the same way about protecting these incredible, fascinating, creatures. The young man on David's Feed is right there .......standing shoulder to shoulder with us. The long and short of it is, I just don't want anything to happen to him.
It's just a matter of time till he has a headstone - his bandstanding in one video caused him to misidentify a spitting cobra & he took a full load of venom in the face... You would THINK that he would LEARN from it, but NOPE... he's willing to do anything to get views...
I have nails too, but short and usable, I play guitar, use them to grab tiny cords or stuff in electronics, open beer cans etc. cutting plastic warps, cutting leaves in my garden etc. I support the guy if he likes it if its his style etc. but it must be difficult to live with!
Question, do they make different size hooks for snake handling? The hook itself seems so big for such a small snake. Lastly, do you have to have to wash off your shoes if they spit on them?
you really need to watch Chandler's wild life channel he can teach you a few things and I mean that in a good way cause man your knocking on a dangerous door
Eazy Geezy i love chandler I own a king cobra too love him I free ha dale him most of the time depending on his mood I would never free handle any other venomous snakes I keep no matter how much I trust them they are wild animals with wild tendencies and they can always mistake a finger for a mouse 🐁 no thank you I have way too much love and respect for these animals unlike this kid he’s knocking on deaths door hope he’s got antivenin sitting in the fridge one day he’ll need it and god help him then.
@@beautyaddictsanonymous exactly there is a difference between respecting the animal and just plain out you shouldn't do that.He said you shouldn't free hand them as much no you shouldnt free handle them at all. Some of the most experienced handlers like Tom Crutchfield said in his video's you shouldn't free handle hot snakes.
Eazy Geezy i have 22 years under my belt and I wouldn’t advise anyone to hold a venomous snake snakes are not mean they are not out to get humans lol but they defensive and it takes so little to spook them and in matter of minutes you’re gone to another planet granted every venom is different but they usually tell you get to the hospital with in minutes. This kid has no respect for these wonderful creatures he thinks it’s cool because when he handles them he can feel the snake movements better I wanted to ask who thought him snake language I wanna know even the most safest handlers have been bit. This shouldn’t be on RU-vid bc some dumb kids will see this and they are going to do it because they think it’s cool ughhh man I spent my life protecting these animals and what they stand for and telling ppl walk away and then I run across this video and my blood boils
If the snake feels more comfortable with your hands it's most likely because hooks are mainly made with certain metals that are cold, which snakes don't like. Human bodies are warm, and snakes would prefer to be touching something warm that they know won't hurt them (after a lot of trusting takes place) then a cold, restricting hook
That would seem like the smart thing to do lol... but I think he likes the risk and prefers to free handle having them become more dosile. Hes got a way with the snakes I must say and eventually will get bit but if you watch many other RU-vid whom do venom like dingo.. they will hopefully be okay. I believe you can tame snakes over time. If it were a business of sorts you can imagine the precautions they would probably take. Like for venom extractions, the suits and armor they wear etc.
I have followed him for a long time- he ALSO is the guy you call if you have a snake on your property. He has been bitten. He goes barefoot. You gotta see the vid "Oracle" King Cobra
Gee you could say that to anyone who handles venomous snakes. Or hell any snake for that matter. It’s a risk you take when you own these animals. Yes you should have experience but even highly experienced reptile handlers have had accidents. You take a risk when you handle temperamental animals like this. Grow up a bit. Educating yourself is a marvelous thing to stimulate your intellect and learn something but hey ignorance must be bliss.
David, the name of the wood is screwpine. It is a plant of Pandanus family, commonly found on tropical beaches. It bears big fruits that look like pineapples
Just a friendly bit of info from a fellow venomous snake handler. A bite from a red spitter no matter where the bite occurs can absolutely wreck your testicles to the point of rotting them off. If you'd like me to explain why this is possible let me know and I'll expand on it.
Horrible handling techniques. Only a matter of time before one of these snakes bites you. Out of all venomous snake handlers id deff say you're the most careless.
Really beautiful red Cobras. I live in Tucson and I'm trying to get a pair of Coral Snakes, and Mexican Twin spot ratttlesnakes. What I really like are common European adders. I wish I had a grey male and a black female. Currently I am breeding Ackies but I have had many of the venomous Arizona reptiles in the past. regards Cary in Tucson
I haven't watched one of this dude's videos in a bit and I can't help but to get ill. Those damn nails make me want to puke. And also just knowing that I'm watching a video of a potential Deadman. This dude is going to get tagged. I cannot believe how he handled those spitting cobras. I don't know how he didn't get bit just then. His days are numbered. I will guarantee if he keeps going the way he's going and continues to be so careless he's going to get bit! Dude get yourself some training, and the first order of business, cut the damn fingernails... Come on bro grow up.
I hate saying it, but I agree. He has a very lax attitude when handling snakes. You should see how he handles his king cobra. He treats it like a harmless puppy. He trusts animals that shouldn't be trusted.
have you fools considered the nails are part of the whole snake handling vibe? The snake doesn't know how big people really are.;. they just register threat. if the thing handling them has a pointy jabby thing sharp enough to impale them in the head.. they might not be so willing to take defensiveness to it. a very alpha dog behavioral communication. Based on the likes of the comments on here.. learned everything you need from three action movies. as if "growing up" has prevented adult men become well dressed congressional liar for the corporations. Enjoy your cup of glyphosate for breakfast tomorrow.
DAVIDSFFET. wow never saw RED Cobra snake they looking nice with great color pattern, and wow unlike other african spitting one not aggressive wow very calm down snake
The Don I your correct I mean more dangerous as when your confront one of them in the wild, the mamba will most likely take off if u see one in the wild, meanwhile a spitting cobra is way more agressuve they will spit in your eyes and blind you and then Vite you and kill you, I watched a video of a small spitting cobra ( cause a mamba is way bigger) and it spit in a lions face and then bit it to kill, mambas most likely are going to run away and hide they only attack when provoked, just like the inland tiapan the most venomous snake in the world there are very little deaths with them because like the mamaba they Run away when confronted
@mexside NYC i will agree with that for sure....but in a caged situation like this mamba would in my opinion be a hell of alot scarier....i highly doubt this dude is ever gonna be with them In their natural habitat...thanks for the reply my man have a wonderful day!
Irwin's mistake moron, was to jump in the water near a stingray & STARTLE it. NONE of us that free-handle venomous snakes, ESPEcIALLY cobras, take it lightly, AND if you notice, you will see that NONE of us make FAST movements, because cobras home in on MOVEMENT - whether they decide you are a threat or NOT, they watch EVERY move you make...
The layman wants to know how come the snakes allow you to handle them with very little aggression. They got angry when being enclosed in the plastic containers only. I am stunned. I have never seen anything like this. Yes it seems extremely risky. I am intrigued.
You definitely nailed it handling those snakes! Joke! No seriously dawg, I hope you're not having a false sense of security thinking these guys are fine to handle the way you do. It maybe the way they move, put you in a hypnotic trance. I'm sure you know what happened to Timothy Treadwell, I'm sure he thought the bears around him were quite cuddly, it may have ultimately lead to his terrible end. These were just my thoughts on watching this video.
