Honestly the conversations between Neo and the Oracle and the Architect are the most fascinating parts to watch for me. More than the fight scenes. Their conversations are just so cleverly written.
You have seen no spoon when others are trying to bend it in fight scenes. There are more mind-boggling theories/ideas in Santana Dharma(Vedas) Truth: There is no spoon.
“If you do too much people get dependent on you. And if you do nothing, they lose hope…when you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all." God Entity - Futurama
Notice that in the first movie, Neo takes the cookie and eats it, as he is told. In Reloaded, he takes the candy, but puts it in his pocket. In Revolutions, he doesn't even take the candy. This is a subtle way of showing how he really is getting to know himself throughout the trilogy.
There's also the fact that in the first movie, she tells him she's not inviting him to sit down because she already knows he won't do it. Here, she invites him to sit down, and he refuses at first, but then changes his mind when she's perfectly fine with his refusal to sit down.
She basically saying that we came here as threw the matrix which is were the Bible explain what that is, an that the reason we are here is understanding of the system which is the physical world and that trusting in God the designer will in turn bring you to the understanding that the real reason we are here is to help each other. Plus food has its part that's as well what we eat can change our world thats why Jesus said no man can live be bread alone but by every word of God it' eating food full of sugar wow need I say more..I have a cousin who can go with out food for months, um that's my take on this yo.
If you think about it, the Oracle is set up everything. She set up Morpheus to be mentor/build Neo. She set up Trinity to bind Neo into love, So that In the meeting with the Architect, which also was set up by her, Neo would reject the Architect's choice and break the cycle. She is also purposely gave almighty power to Smith, So much that the Machine can't beat Smith alone and have to accept Neo's help in exchange for "Peace". In the end, the Architect even recognized the risk of her plan.
I've watched this scene so many times and thanks to the comments I just noticed something. "Why are you here?" -"Same reason why you are here, I love candy." I always skipped over that but now I realize that it is a lot deeper. She also said "I thought you would've figured it out by now." That is an intresting statement coming from an oracle. And what's up with the bench in the middle of seemingly randomness. I mean where are they sitting? Man this trilogy is so sick. Even Buddha would enjoy them.
The answer to that question is later provided on the train station. "Why are you here?" Karma in the Matrix universe is defined as "What I am here to do" so the complete argument would be something along like "Why are you here? Because of Karma"
Take it back to the first movie. When you first heard about a character called The Oracle, you had a preconceived picture of what that character would look like and their mannerisms, and I can guarantee you that picture was not of a Harlem grandmother. That was meant to fuck with Neo's (and your) perception to show you how not everything is what it seems.
"We're all here to do what we're all here to do". no true words have ever been spoken. every human being and every animal has some sort of purpose in this crazy world we live in.
+thegreeenbeast my friend its kind of The same. We all have a purpose. birds, lions, whales, oceans and trees. They are govern by some kind of force that puts a purpose in it. So we're is free will? There's not because we already came to do a thing and we have a purpose. There is causality.
There's actually no real purpose of meaning in life. If one requires a meaning or a purpose for one's existence, one is limiting one's own existence. One is creating barriers and boundaries around one self. If I say, you were meant to be an architect, would you wanna be an architect? Maybe you will become one, but deep down, there's a deep longing inside you that wants to be something else, something more. See? When one has come to the realization that one has no meaning or purpose in life, one becomes boundless, infinite, unrestricted by anything, free even from freedom itself. That is the ultimate goal of life, Enlightenment. @Matt gets the idea below in the comments section
I just realized why the Oracle keeps talking about candy all the time. I thought maybe she was trying to change the subject or lighten the mood. But there is a deeper meaning behind it. The Oracle knows everything and what's about to happen in the future. She is as smart as the Architect who've created the Matrix. But if she knows everything, she must have realized that everything is really pointless and meaningless. The candy is just a string of codes that are made to look like a real candy, but it's not a real candy. So, what's the point of eating the candy? Better yet, what is the point of doing anything if the future has already been determined and you already know what's going to happen? What is the point of the Matrix if it's just a bunch of codes that have no real meaning? The point is that everything IS meaningless just like the candy. But we put a meaning into the meaningless world so that we can enjoy it. It does not matter if the candy is not real or if the Matrix is not a real world. It is how you put a meaning into it so that you can really enjoy living your life in this meaningless world. The Oracle knew this, so she was just enjoying the meaningless world by putting a meaning into every meaningless object, such as the candy. The future is not relevant to live a life. You have to enjoy the present moment even if it seems meaningless.
Matt This comment is meta, Matt. Like the Oracle, you've attached a deeper meaning to an object (the candy), which may have or may not have always been meaningless, in terms of the story.
+Matt Not a bad interpretation.. but actually the Oracle is the opposite of the Architect. When Neo asks her why she is here, she says: same reason, I love candy. Didn't you notice the color of the candy ? It was the same one Neo took from Morpheus when he was starting his Journey towards Liberation. She is in it to make the Architect's work Complete. The only thing he was missing in his design was free will, which of course he couldn't understand, only she does.
Good comment, all in all. And I concur with it, all in all. The candy IS red indeed vs. blue or black. She took another piece of "candy", a red pill. I believe that each of us needs to do so also. I too, love candy. Temet nosce. Very, VERY important to each and every one of us humans. Know thyself.

i don't think oracle can really see the 'future', but she can only predict the most probable outcome by analyzing all the information she has about everyone and everything. the probability of her prediction happening can even come close to 98% or more if she has all the information that she needs to analyze it. the 'oracle' may be the closest thing that resembles the nature of advanced artificial intelligence.
Matt She is as the Architect describes her 'An intuitive programme.' If he is the embodiment of math, logic, precision, and fact, she is the embodiment of the opposite, including the intuitive perception and anticipation of the future.
The Oracle is all Knowing and she is playing the long game. Thats why she gaves answers with a two edged sword. In one sentence saying he is ment for something greater when in all reality it is Agent Smith she wants to succeed bringing the programming into a new age and into a new change.
Time is illusory, just like space, solidity and everything else besides Pure Consciousness. What people call 'movement' is an illusion. Nothing ever truly moves, every moment is like a frame in a television show. When you watch a television show, it looks like you're seeing moving images, but the images you are seeing are not moving at all. You are seeing one frozen image after another in rapid succession, so it looks as though you are seeing moving images (even though you're not). Time is like that. Every moment in our lives is like a frozen image, an eternity of its own. And it is possible to both 'rewind' and 'fast-forward' these frozen images - this is known as 'time travel'. Everyone is Pure Consciousness, which is infinite and eternal, experiencing life in a temporary human form. You can call Pure Consciousness 'God' if you want, but I don't, because the word 'God' has limiting religious connotations that I would rather avoid. Pure Consciousness has free will, but when it assumes temporary human forms (which are us), it experiences predetermined lives. Everything you experience in your life (right down to the most trivial details) was chosen by your true self, Pure Consciousness. Even when some guy on the street punches you in the face. You chose to be punched in the face for whatever reason. I know this is hard to accept. I genuinely do. But it's true all the same. So at the physical level of 'reality', there is no free will. But at the most fundamental level of 'reality', there IS free will.
she is the one who guide but also created the one, and who corrupted smith, she is the most important character of the whole serie, pity that most didnt understand the 3 movie, I saw it in theaters and Ive found it brillant.
most people can't get over how bad (their opinion, not mine) the Matrix sequels are , to get a better understanding of the philosophy and complexity of the Matrix trilogy. the first movie is great, but it is pretty useless without the other two. it has a really lame vague ending *if the other two movies had never existed, that is.
"bcuz you didn't come here to make the choice..you have already made it..u r here try to understand why u made it"... so epic..m very gifted to have a master who made me understood why... ;)
best explanation for how we live in a deterministic world and try to understand it. "Your not here to make the choice, you already made it, your here to understand why you made it"
Something I noticed in the first matrix Neo was very obedient to oracle and did what he was told. This one, however, he questioned her a little and moved on his own. It's hilarious when he says "I'll sit when I feel like it and he ends up sitting anyways lol!
I just watched the trilogy with my family and I was watching it from a reality standpoint - what if this is what it really is like? Are we so close-minded to only depend on what is solid, only what we can feel and physically grasp is real? Of course I was the only one taking the concept seriously - I'm alone in a family of cynics...after all, "We can never see past the choices we don't understand..." where's my Neo when I need him? :)
Every conflict in the matrix is in plain english or subtext an attack against preconception. Thats the choice we can't see past, because for instance family or HS football if you are from texas. They are not conscious efforts of the individual to mold himself, but they are holdovers from previous generations that took nothing but constant presentation and affirmation by parties separate from self. A place of certainty is usually where we find the error ;)
This is still just a movie remember. A thought provoking one, no doubt, but just another movie. There is no evidence of anything else, so assuming one thing to be more true than others is a waste of time.
Neo: But if you already know, then how can I make a choice? Oracle: Because you didn't come here to make the choice. You've already made it. You're here to understand WHY you made it. Such a unique and interesting way of framing future sight and choice in terms of prophecy.
"Just have to make up your own damn mind to either accept what I'm going to tell you, or reject it". It's like we have a choice to accept it or not..... We'll all reject it initially, then with knowledge we'll learn to accept it.
Reading all these comments makes me grin like an idiot from ear to ear 😁 's why i love "thinking man's" movies and video games like The Matrix. One of the few areas where we can have a melting pot of ideas that doesn't boil. 😄😃🤗
I love the oracle. In the Matrix she is a program just like the Architect. However, in symbolism the Oracle represents Mother Universe and the Architect represents conciousness control. We are all bound by the choices we make. We are all here to what we are all here to do just as what the Oracle stated. We have the choice to do good for ourselves, others, the world, and the Universe. Just as well, we have the choice to not give a shit about anyone or anything, including ourselves.
Choice, or the illusion of choice is referenced everywhere throughout the matrix movies, because the matrix would collapse without the illusion of choice.
this candy scene is quite ironinc, giving the fact that in real life the actress that played the Oracle here died during production of Diabetes. May she rest in peace, Gloria Foster. She was amazing here
They changed the purpose of the characters compared to the Matrix 1. Neo is more combative with the Oracle compared to the first movie. They made the 2nd and 3rd movies like comic books (e.g. The Avengers). Just my opinion.
The closest you will get to a virtual reality is probably lucid dreaming. If you practice this then you can experience anything you can imagine while you sleep and dream, and it even feels extremely realistic.

"the future. the only way to get there is together."
I think she was referring on the surface to Neo's 'nightmares' (ie. his foresight), and on the subtext side (since pretty much everything said in these movies has subtext) - she is saying that she knows he is no longer blind to the world around him and that he sees things as they truly are - ie. he is not dreaming - he is on the path to enlightenment.
The Freudian Trio, in the Matrix Trilogy: Superego: Order and Dis-Order to keep things as they are, The Architect & The Oracle, respectively. The Oracle wants freedom of choice, within reason for the sake of the Matrix and those within it. The Architect wants conformity and to accept things as they are "meant to be", for the sake of the Matrix and those within it. Id: Driven by the self, wants their own form of order, something new in their image. The Merovingian wants and has his own empire (he has his own faction within "The Matrix Online") and as much power as he can get his hands on within the Matrix, especially by taking advantage of exiled programs meant for deletion, and to manipulate the loopholes/flaws of the Matrix for his liking. Bends it to his will. Smith, more dangerously, wants to re-create the Matrix into a world that he sees fit. Both sow disorder in order to create a new order. Ego: Driven by what others want and/or need, want to rebel against the system that is flawed. This is what the human resistance wants, particularly Neo & Morpheus. They want what is best for both worlds, but with their priorities being to bring peace to Zion. To destroy the Matrix in order to benefit Zion would be potentially disastrous (all those who haven't escaped the Matrix, aren't aware, or have chosen to remain). Even though it's revealed that Neo and Morpheus, and by extension all of Zion, have been through all of this multiple times, it's up to Neo to finally make that choice that, in this series is meant to usher in a new era of peace for humanity. Or is it simply the process repeating itself? Is rebellion and then compromise ultimately a part of this order and thus, is this what the Matrix all about?
I still don't get it. If Neo has already made the choice, does that mean he's simply living out a life he's already lived? If that's so, then will the outcome of his life will be the same no matter what he does?
No, the oracle is trying to explain to neo that the reality he sees around him is a construction co-created by him as a conscious being, and that he already chose to go through all this before he in fact went through it, however, in order for himself to grow and become aware of his potential as a conscious being, he must learn why he chose to create the reality, by experiencing it. This is in fact the great power of choice that has eluded humans. :)
Here's the problem with that: the Oracle's function isn't to guide Neo to be the One. The instant she began to fulfill her original programming she must have realized that the entire system was deeply flawed. Not just the Matrix, all of it. It was doomed to fail sooner rather later no matter what anyone did. She saw a possible solution in the very problem the Architect was trying to eliminate yet she didn't know if any of them would be able to do it only that one of them could do it.
+The Programmer The Matrix is about the world we live in......but we are not living in a computer generated dream world like in the movie. It is a metaphor. Most people are unaware of the control and the programming. But as Morpheus said....."Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself."
+ManufacturedReality Correct, all in all. As said in the first film: "The Matrix has you..." "Follow the white rabbit.". Also later on in the film: "What is the Matrix? Control. ... " Also, "The Matrix is a system, Neo (and everyone!). That system is our enemy. ...." It is our real enemy indeed, that is, if you like freedom, your liberties and rights, etc. WAKE UP, people. Again, "The Matrix has you", as stated in the film. Temet Nosce. (Very important and relevent). Peace.
Well in my opinion, we're all a projection of universal consciousness unaware of that due to human ego. The matrix system is the governmental and materialistic system set up to distract us from the truth of who we are.
Remember that when the Oracle gives Neo candy or cookies, what she is really giving him is a computer programme that gives him more power. After he eats the cookie in the Matrix 1, he is able to dodge bullets. After he takes the candy here, he can fight lots of Smiths. Notice what she says about Smith too - he is the exact opposite, the other half of the equation. So as she makes Neo more powerful, Smith automatically becomes more powerful too, to 'balance' the equation.
'Look, see that choice to eat twinkies? At some point a thought process was made to govern them. A thought process was made to watch over watching football, the statistics, to wake up and go to sleep. There are choices running all over the place. The ones doing their job, doing what they are meant to do, are Invisible, you'd never know they are there.'
bu Oracle ı seviyorum bu cok farklı konusma sekli öldugu icin oynayamadıgını duydugumda cok uzulmustum.boyle bir kadın eksildi dunyadan diye aklıma gelmisti uff
If your entire life is a reaction to circumstances set in place during your childhood, such as programming from parents & television, then your freewill is severely limited & it really isn't freewill, because programming pretty much excludes freewill.
