Welcome back into the Conquest Champions League. In this game its 500 points of a gundabad horde going up against Cirith Ungol. Kingdom of Saxonia: www.kickstarte...
@@nathanpeterson8011 Nah not at all, the cirith ungol list has won heaps of tournaments. The game ended at the troll charge. You can bring the worst list in the game and still do quite well if you're competant enough
I mean, even if you drop it back to just it's regular Strength 7, it's still killing anything below Defense 6 on 3s, and only needs 4s for most everything else. In general, I'm not a big fan of those kinds of 'hit and keep moving' attacks period, just feels a bit too difficult to balance, but either way, Azog's Legion as a whole is probably somewhat overpowered for their points, there is a ton of killing power there. Even without the troll's nasty first charge, the Gundabad orcs were cutting right through their Cirith Ungol counterparts, no trouble; that's what made the real difference.
@@ryangale3757 yeah and Shelob couldn't get amongst it. I've been out of the hobby for a long while but been picking it back up and I just can't believe Azog and Bolgs' stat lines for orc captains essentially. I mean sure Gothmog is pretty good as well but Azog's legion just seems to have an incredibly good selection of characters and units from what I've seen of it. Azog is a surprise to me (I know they've gone movie Azog) since a 30ish year old Dain Ironfoot killed him a 100+ years before the Hobbit.
@@ryangale3757 The Troll Brute is really well balanced by its low fight value and low defence. Its really easy for a few heroes to flash kill it and when it goes down it leaves a massive hole in the battle line. If it were hitting with anything less than strength 10 it would be under powered. I have gotten in quite a lot of games with it now and ultimately I don't think its an optimal competitive choice. I think Azog's legion is very balanced as a faction overall. I haven't seen it on the top of any big tournaments yet. You are correct about the orcs being the real difference. Strength 4 defence 6 going up against strength 3 defence 5 is a big difference. It also really helped that I had a banner and spear supports giving me a lot more attacks
Sending an orc captain with lots of models (including shagrat) lined up behind him to “deal with” a troll brute is like throwing corn bread into a pond to “deal with” the ducks. ToURnaMenT VetRan move.
So Mordor runs straight at you and slams into you with a wall of armor and muscle with some heroes and in some cases monsters to be the big hitters? Seems simple enough to learn the game and be new player friendly I would hope. :)
Hey Jacob, cool battlereport , just one question , your first warband contains 13 followers even though the warband's captain is only a hero of fortitude , was that a mistake or is there some rule iam not aware of?
New to middle-earth sbg, on shooting if my archers are elevated and I shoot at a model behind a fee model and have full line of sight do I still roll for in the way?
One rules question. If you have multiple models in the same combat on the same side. Do they all have to roll separately with their own fight value or do they all roll together and use the highest fight value of the group?
Great question, this is one that I got wrong when I first started. All the models in a fight use the highest fight value. However if there are any heroes with might they need to be rolled separately because they can only use might on their own dice rolls
Oof, what a lousy matchup pull for Cirith Ungol. Their lack of cavalry or ranged attacks definitely makes fighting off stuff like that Troll Brute very, very tricky without some lucky dice rolling.
