I ordered my "Canyon Roadlite 6" 4 days ago. It arrived today!! 4 days from Germany. That's insane. Zero issues with UPS. Received a text this morning that I had to pay for Customs and I had the bike 8 hours later. What a beauty! Can't wait to get out for a ride. PS - thanks for the video Greg. It gave me the confidence to order my Canyon.
Awesome video man, I'm looking to get a Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8 Disc Aero myself (whenever they're in stock) and this helped answer a lot of the questions I had for the import duties and taxes.
Hi Greg. Thanks for your videos. I'm from Manila, Philippines. Might be ordering a Speedmax Disc soon. Looking forward for more videos and good luck on your channel!
Thanks for sharing! I ordered the Grail a week ago and good to know the duties and taxes are way less than what they showed. Can't wait to have mine, but ETA in June :/ From Toronto.
Hey I was just wondering if you got that limited edition Canada bottle canyon is advertising. Thanks so much for this you cleared up a lot of things as I was thinking about getting an ultimate as my first carbon bike, but my calculations were off and this vid was really helpful😁😎
Hi Aaron - thanks for tuning in. I am glad the video did help clear up some stuff. Remember this was just MY personal scenario, but it seems a few folks have had similar ones with a few variations. To answer your question, yes I did receive the bottle. You can see it in my New Bike Day Video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4vjBA_X6X2U.html&lc=Ugx82leDmJaDKa_ScmJ4AaABAg. Excite for you to get your new bike!
Hi Greg! I was looking to buy a Canyon Ultimate, but was extremely disappointed and lost hope when I saw the estimated 13% import/duty fee. I am in Quebec, so taxes are around 15%, so an additional 28% on a $6500 bike isn’t good for me. In the $1077 you paid, how much was taxes and how much was fee? I don’t mind paying taxes, but mind paying astronomical fees… Thank you, great content🙂
Fellow Canuck here and thanks so much for the info! Looking to order a Canyon bike as well. Have you met/heard anyone in Canada that was charged the website estimated duties and taxes by UPS?
Hi Barber, glad you've enjoyed the videos and found them helpful. I am excited for you to get your bike soon! I have yet to have any Canadian who's ordered the bike be charged in full based on the web estimator. I know UPS also has some resources where you can enter your postal code and then seeing what duties are based on country of origin.. so in this case Germany. Hopefully that helps!
Thanks for posting. My Grizl is on its way, it was supposed to be delivered tomorrow but the date was just updated to Monday. Sounds like you were not charged the full 13% duties on bicycles?
Interesting video, Greg. My Speedmax 7 disc arrived 6 days after ordering via FedEx. Interestingly, it shipped out of Southern California. I'm in Alaska and Canyon charged me $649 for shipping instead of the regular $99 that those in the lower 48 pay. Although that was hard to swallow, it seemed better than Canadian import duties :-) It's also a little bit less than what I'd pay to ship a bike myself between the two locations. Did your Speedmax ship out of Germany?
@@gregstrijourney It's good! My first TT bike although I've raced a couple 70.3's. Your videos are a big help. I was a little slowed by having to order a torque wrench and it took two tries to get the right through axel to work with my Kurt Kinetic.
hey man, great few videos. I ordered my speedmax CF 7 Disc (on the 16th) and had the same anxious feeling tracking it. Just wanted to add my experience with UPS. They actually called me the same day it landed in my area - Montreal (on the 23rd) to pay duties and taxes. Obviously I paid right away. Was also told would be held up to 3 days. The one thing that I was surprised was an additional 583 dollar "Government Charge" no other details or explanation on what the charge really was for: brought my grand total up to $1500 owed. A little more unexpected. But ya, just wanted to say had pretty much the same experience.
Thanks Richard - You must be so excited also! Congrats on the new ride! It sure does seem like you had a pretty similar experience. I know that the fees charged are based on geographical location. UPS has an entire chart on their website. I am in Ottawa so compared to Quebec, I noticed there was a slight difference of course. Either way, its reassuring to know the experience is essentially them same for Canadians even in another province. All in all, it was a pretty smooth process and super happy to have elected the Canyon direct to consumer model.
Hi, I was wondering if there was any issue in UPS shipping the bike because of the Di2 battery. I ordered an Endurace with Di2 and UPS tracking says that they won’t ship because it is declared as hazardous materials. In the mean time, I received a text that the bike cleared customs (I had paid all of the customs fees by phone). CANYON told me they have shipped similarly equipped bikes to Canada and that I just have to wait. UPS has sent me three notifications that they won’t ship by air but also said the shipment is ‘on the way’, and has cleared customs. All of this is very confusing for me.
Im planning to purchase an AEROAD CFR Road bike in Canada website, dispatch to my uncle's home in Canada. and then He will shipped with UPS or FEDEX to Florida.USA. US inventory on the website is really poor, so that is the only option I see to get the bike, Any concern that I should be aware? Would I be charged with Custom Duties, what is the %? insights are welcome, thanks
So, your duty + taxes was only CAD$1.077? for a 7k bike? I'm interested on a much cheaper neuron but the website estimates around 460 for taxes + 411 for duty. Could you describe how much was each on your invoice (and ups fee too)?
