As our chainsaw uses increase the need for sharp chains also increase. As a machinist, I have done a lot of tool grinding for many materials. While it is common to file chainsaw teeth, it is nearly impossible to make a truly sharp and consistent tooth geometry. The accuracy of a tool grinder can produce exact angles, uniform tooth lengths and a sharp edge that lasts longer in use.
I bought a new Oregon 520-120 chain grinder. After doing my research on customer reviews and video research it became obvious that a few modifications to this machine would be needed to meet my expectation.
I have included links to the Machine and vise below should you want to duplicate my set up. Oregon also has a replacement vise with Oregon branding.
