Elias Galan is the young organ donor who inspired Lifesharing’s new memorial rock garden. When Elias died suddenly in 2020, his parents made the selfless decision to donate his organs. Lifesharing found recipients for his heart and kidneys. In the wake of Elias' death, his mother Katie painted “Donate Life” rocks in the hopes of encouraging others to say ‘yes’ to organ donation. Katie gave some of these stones to Lifesharing, and we decided to build a rock garden in which we could display them. Katie’s beautiful gesture - and her son’s heroic gift - gave birth to Lifesharing’s Memorial Rock Garden. All Lifesharing families are invited to add their own stones to the garden. Elias’ family also placed a butterfly on our memorial wall in his honor. They chose a green butterfly with these words engraved on the wings: “Elias Galan, Our Big Lil Warrior.”
