One of the advantages of the 100 series is that they can afterburn for much longer then other ships, and it only affects IR a small amount compared to other ships with have about 3x the IR affect from afterburners. I built a 125a stealth version which is great for sneaking around, especially if you need to bring friends into an area under concealment.
Fuel efficient, has a bed, can do box missions, etc. imo the 125a from this series is one of the best starters. The 125a is the only starter ship still in my fleet.
PvP it struggles. Nice agility due to very fast combat speed, but with only 2 missiles and at most 2xS3 guns you won't fare well against fully kitted out Auroras and Mustangs. Against anything more and you're at a disadvantage in speed, firepower and defensive stats. As a daily flyer, you really gotta admire it's easy entry, unlimited hydrogen, smooth ride characteristics. In a battle it has good ability against current AI, but a player in almost anything will have a technical advantage. The 100i can be equipped to be extremely stealthy however. With stealth components you can beat a Sabre in EM and IR emissions, you're smaller, and turning off your shields will just make you disappear beyond 2-3km. You don't have the missiles to make it an ambusher, but you can escape fights easily if you can get some distance.
Myeah. Love the design, and I'll definitely end up buying one (in game), but it's little more than a space car in my opinion. A wonderful space car ideal for joy rides and local deliveries... But no more than that. If you could dock a 100i in a 600i, it would be the perfect combination. EDIT: Which... Come to think of it, it perfectly suits an 890 Jump. Luxury transport with 2 space cars for joyrides in interesting areas.
@@Farrister I think they really dropped the ball with the 100i. They could have put a 3 person couch instead of the bed and had a luxury passenger transport that would have went well with the 890j. Instead they just turned it into a smaller weaker version of the 300i.
I like it as a carrack shuttle, I mean apart from it being a tight squeaze, it's a full upgrade on the pisces bar 1 seat (since you can sit upright on the bed) instead you get the extra firepower, air system, better speed for the commute. And you can use the ships bed to increase the carracks crew compliment by 1 (or 2 if the crew AI can manage to hot bunk it) And the 135c miiight be able to squeaze in a ranger cycle (assuming push and pull mechanic lets us maneuver it like that) Overall it has promise, and like the aurora, has a possible life beyond just being a starter ship.
Random comment for engagement but the 600 should have a Constellation like launch bay for the 100 series. They just need to make the second glass cockpit raise up and get in like the Titan and have it be under the coffee table as you do something like the Star Runner to get access to it. I'd even take main weapon downgrades to keep it 'fair'
I like to carry a 125a in my Carrack as a quite capable snub craft. But when only comparing the price to performance ratio, I'd much rather go with the 300-series instead.
Farrister, thanks for the good review! I am curious if you did your flight testing before or after the thruster adjustments were done to the 100 series? For its niche as a touring/small-time courier starter, the 100i serves admirably with its strengths in my opinion. Amazing hydrogen fuel efficiency with the AIR system, easy boarding (as you mentioned) and convenient space for boxes (probes/black box/mission), small and stylish profile, and a bed for logoff. For me, it handles well for casual touring flying and the firepower and protection is adequate I will admit; it is more like a jump capable snub in comparison to some starters. Yet I think that is kind of the point, it is a luxury starter where you are paying for the extra style, good performance (speed and fuel efficiency), and decent amenities (bed, access to cargo and components inside, Origin views) in exchange for lower shields and firepower. The Mustang is a better fighter (no missiles but better agility and more guns) while the Aurora is comparably versatile, is tougher but less stylish, the Pisces has no bed, small guns yet has more cargo and two passenger seats no other starter can offer. One shield it shares with the 100i too.
I hope to! I have a lot of ships I would still like to get to, but I like to have a good amount of flight time in each before collecting together my thoughts for a review video
@@Farrister im sad cuz i have the game but my pc cant run it. Ive sent a request for a refund. Ill hopefully get it if I get a better computer later on in life haha
i bough the 100i for the single purpose of bring me from point A to Point B fast and with style.... and it does it !!!! the C1 is a very good looking shuttle, nothing more.
@@Farrister yeah that's fair, i'll buy the arora mr. (I'll need to wait 3-4 months cuz then the pc is bought and delivered) I also got suggestions in dc for it.
So im relatively new to star citizen and I purchased this ship in the starter package can someone tell me the best setting to have in order to see the UI better that light green makes it hard to see the interaction models Ive seen darker options from pictures and videos but I cant seem to get my settings right with the resolution to be able to see that font specially when it comes to the controls with this ship the lighting on the control panel is so bright that I cant see it past all the bright white on the ship itself. Its really ruining the flying experience for me making it harder to give this game an honest shot.
@@Farrister i saw older post from like years ago about UI issues with this game seems to be an ongoing issue i guess. I found some other ways to get around it now im trying to understand controller mapping to a non xbox elite for flight. I wanna like this game so bad but to be this old an still just fundamentally broken is kinda heart breaking lol. Like i heard its better than elite and no mans but just the general effort to even get off the first base is more taxing than it should be with the money put into it.
If this game was actually FINISHED, I might consider not getting a refund. It has so much potential as a game but instead of fixing the stupid bugs, the devs add more ships to waste absurd amounts of money on. That is this game's downfall. The devs are greedy
