Orks are one of the best things in 40k 

One of the best things about Orks is that they teach people to talk with a proper british vocabulary

I like the Ork Warboss who travelled back in time and killed his past self so he could have 2 of his favorite gun.

The funny thing about orks is that they can basically do absolutely anything and it still would make sense lore wise. Like orks can be pirates with peg legs, eye patches and squig parrots, they can be samurais devoted to the way of DA CHOOPA, they can be cowboy/knight errant fighting crime, becouse in wh40k there is lots of that and that means more fights, and it still make sense. And ork racers want to be the fastest there is, a grot master fighter pilot. Orks is faction of pure imagination :D

One recurring trend with Orks that I think is really funny is how people will repeatedly underestimate the Orks by thinking they're just animals basically before getting completely blindsided by them using actual 200 IQ plays. What's funnier also is a lot of the time these 200 IQ plays happen usually out of sheer coincidence and on-the-fly rather than any concerted effort of strategizing on the Orks' part.

Orks are so simplified it’s amazing and are hilarious to a degree it feels like trolling akin to Orgyns but less friendly and more organized Gork and Mork are a treat so dysfunctional but the perfect gods for them and Sqiugs and Gretchen are the jelly to the peanut butter

I'm an Ork by heart and my fav warboss is the git who took his warband into the warp to fight the better fight against demons, only for Khorne himself to pick the boss up as his champion and revels in the eternal krumpin with his ladz

Orks may be hilarious from an outside perspective, but it should always be remembered, the Boyz came closer to destroying the Imperium than the forces of Chaos ever have

From my experience, Orks are most people's introduction to the hobby. Sure they've probably heard of space marines before or seen memes about other factions, but a big factor for someone actually getting interested in 40k is learning about orky shenanigans.

Imma be honest when I first heard about 40k I thought the entire premise was focused around "Space Knights with guns fight Space Orks with guns" and for the longest time that's all I knew about it until when I recently actually started getting into Warhammer and discovered that there's ten billion other factions and stuff

The orks definitely are a core part of 40k as well. Chaos is the big bad but orls are the classic bad guys and are the premier xenos faction that reprisent xenos and have the most coverage in the lore even if 90% are used as a way to show how terrible the actual villains but its always the orks.

I made an Ork army who basically have a prison aesthetic with the idea that they were spat out of the warp and crash landed on a moon that had a Mechanicus prison mining complex and they raided it, looting the orange uniforms and calling their choppas "shivs" and their warhorse has a weirdboy who is convinced he talks to Gork & Mork by rattling skulls filled with scrap and dipped in purple paint so they also paint their faces purple. I just wanted to use purple and orange as their clan colours and this came to mind. I have 160 boys and their finest moment was some Nobz cutting down one of the Tau 8 because he charged them when they had killsaws...bad idea.

Getting exposed to 40k lore through tons of grimdark angsty Space Marine and Chaos God infodumps, then discovering Orks right after is the most entertaining juxtaposition ever, takes the piss right out of the whole setting precisely when you're convinced of how mean and serious everything is. My favorite Ork theory is that the Emperor is only alive on the throne because Orks don't know that he died.

Orks can do anything if they believe they can, but this also makes them vulnerable if they believe something is really strong against them. Like Yarrick. Orks think he's the best humie fighter, so he can kill them very well. Orks really are the happiest faction.

I love that the Ork Mechs don't have a fucking clue how any of what they build actually works, they just instinctively smash things together and because they are 100% certain that this item will function, it's going to But on top of that, they could then pass it off to an ork, who runs off with a group of other orks without telling them what the weapon actually does and whatever the fuck that group of orks happen to think it does ends up being the actual function of the weapon The same gun could infinite different types of projectiles just because the orks are morons and forgot what it shot yesterday and just decided it now shoots something else today

I watch lore videos on a game I don't play and have no real desire to play because of 2 things. Orks and Nurgle. I wonder sometimes what percentage of these channels subs don't even play but just love the lore. I didn't even like any Warhammer video games until Boltgun......

I always thought Orks were just the comic relief of 40k... then I heard Baldermort's lore video on them. How big they can get when the war gets serious enough. How advanced their tech. How the Eldar have been careful to prune them, and how the Orks haven't really minded because they've been under no threat. And now the Necrons are back and the Tyranids are incoming. My blood actually ran cold. And now, I have honest-to-Gork RESPECT for the Orks, because Mork-damn...

Orks may not always win, but they always have a good time.

I remember letting my buddy/GM play an ork in the rogue trader game i was running. By the end of it, he had become Warboss Zekk Kragg, Bonker of Battle Sisters. He had like 15 names but none of them were as amazing as knocking a SoB out with a log and living to tell the tale.

One of the main things I love about orks is that they're actually a pretty good barometer to how seriously GW intends people to take the setting. I'll point to an example with Guilliman. Sure he's especially broody these days (see the 10e trailer for an example) and he's a badass and capable leader, but he exists in the same universe as the orks, so he's also kind of a goober. I'm not saying that 40K is a setting where nothing is to be taken seriously, but it's a setting where seriosness itself is always at least a little tongue-in-cheek. *EVERYTHING* is dialed up so far past 11 that it's absurd, and the campy absurdity is the point. Guilliman's self-seriousness is kind of a joke. The Imperium's over-the-top evil being the only hope for human survival is just silly as a concept. The drukari's sadism is wildly cartoonish. All the tropes are played so hard that there's nothing even vaguely realistic about the 40K setting, and it's all said with the comically stoic straight face and a quinesentially British "stiff upper lip"... except the orks. The orks clue in the people that are sarcasm-blind that everything here is satirical on some level. Because orks are obviously silly and riiculous, and they fit right in with everything else that's often so comedically serious.

What I love about the Orks is right when you count them out they always come back. Hell, even with the new arks of omen lore, you see the Orks show up at just the right time to lay down the beating. They are a nice faction to play as because you can laugh at how hilariously serious everyone else takes things, meanwhile you can just keep sending more bodies - a strategy so basic, that for Orks it flips back around to being smart and strategic. It's beautiful, man.

I always feel that GW, at the end of WH development, said, "Ok, we need one more faction. All the others were so serious and dark. Maybe something different. Not light, though. Something...really stupid. Space clowns? Space ogres? Maybe a mix? Maybe? Huh?"

I love the Orks. They’re a very necessary breath of fun in a setting that takes itself way too seriously most of the time.

I don't know if it is still canon, but there was a group of orks that worshipped the emporer because.... idk maybe an inquisitor thought it would be funny to make an ork group beleive in the emporer or something.

The Odd Boyz are the living embodiment of "Cometh the hour, cometh the man". So pleased to see the old fungal gestation picture again. I'm not sure if people don't know about it or they don't think it's important, but I think it's so supremely stupid/amazing that it should be included in every description of the Orks.

Tuska Daemonkilla *Invading* the Eye of Terror, making a drive-by on Cadia for warm-ups, then finding Ork nirvana on a daemon-world of Khorne, is the most epic thing ever, as well as bringing a tear of joy to my eye. Orks ONE OF the best things in 40k? ORKS IS DA BEST. PERIOD.

There's just something comforting about Orks just straight up going through all the 40k galaxy screaming and laughing at the top of their lungs making sure every messed up lovecraftian organism knows they're there and that they're ready to fight. They just have fun and nothing stops em'

I love Orks, I wish I had more inspiration to paint mine. Had a kommando kill team base coated and sitting in my pile of shame for a while. All I know if I want them to be old school British punk themed and I'm going to call them "Da Orky Boyz" in reference to Sham 69's Hersham Boys. My favorite thing I've ever heard about orks was in some book, a space marine vessel was pulling up next to an ork rok to start firing and the marines started seeing green dots pop up on the surface of the rok. The orks had come out into the vacuum of space and were jumping off into space to try to get to the marines and start the fight sooner. LMAO

Everybody that plays 40k loves the orks. They're way past due for some new quality content and lore from GW.

There's one notable exception where ork gubs actually DO work for non-orks, Legacy of Dorn novel, that I've read recently (the main guy concedes how simple their guns are to strip and clean(10min) vs a bolter (3+ hr with all the machine spirit shenanigans)). Don't forget the legendary Deff Skwaddron comic, it's awesome stuff, always brings a smile to face :D

If I remember right, the stronger the Orks opposition gets, the stronger the Orks get. If the Tyranids fail to conquer the galaxy, it won't be because of humanity or whatever. It'll be because of the Orks.

Orks are like whiped cream: Delicious, but lack substance if you don't put it on something else. Orks need more serious factions to bounce off and their shenanigens is not the material you can build a decade long lore on.

got into the lore maybe a year ago, just liked reading the books really. Read a section somewhere about some lamenters trying to escape with some human slaves from an ork planet, they try to hijack an ork ship to escape. None of the ork ships had engines. I love those soggin gits.

To me, as a greenskins player throughout the warhammer universe the orks, orruks or whatever you call them wherever you find them are simply put THE best thing ever.

My wife use to have an ork army. she eventually stopped making them and instead built an ork army for Age of Sigmar. She explained that the orks in 40k are like the butt end of a joke, they're forced humor and the way I see it is they have so many weird and wacky qualities as regualr orks on top of all the characters what are meant to represent real life references such as stealthy spec ops orks, Pirates, and commando Rambo style orks they all lose there charm and personality. When everyone is crazy no one is crazy.

Orks are the best, mostly because you are almost ALWAYS competitive and even when you aren't it is just about always in the most hilarious way.

I figure Orks are probably the best equipped to fight daemons since daemons' only weakness is belief... hence orks go thru the warp without gellar fields for fun. I also figure the old ones fixed the psykers turn inside out into daemon gates glitch by putting an explode fuse in em if they start to go over.

They do technically have the ability to make advancements in their technology, but like everything else that has to do with orks it either happens by accident, or it scales with how many there are in one place, and if they are led by a sufficiently powerful warboss. This actually makes sense, they are a biological weapon and it makes sense that the Brain Boyz coded some kind of limiting factor into them.

Waaagh! Minor correction: Orks DO trade. And do slavery. And you can (sometimes, and not all of them) hire them as mercenaries. So it is a little bit more than just "go fight stuff"... but not a lot. Waaagh!

I inherited not one, but two ork armies from friends. Keep in mind, I was already building my own ork army. My plan was to make a Snakebite army with tons of squigs and gobos. Now I'm drowning in choppa boyz, so it might end up a Goffs army instead. But what do you all think?

Mycorrhiza & Myco-heterotrophy are both symbiotic relationships b/t Fungus & Plants, so it's not too far of a stretch that GW is just rolling w/ the idea that the Old Ones being biohackers didn't cook up a spore based lifeform that can leverage both decomposition & photosynthesis. The few fungus w/ chloroplasts those structures are purple, which explains why some stuff is invisible inside the orc related to nutrition.

I would comment that you got a bunch of stuff wrong about the Orks lore. But Warhammer has no canonical lore, so the shit you made up is just as legit as anything else.
