Lost my mom in December 2012 at the age of 52 after a battle with cancer. Six months later, my father passed away unexpectedly at the age of 55. I was 26. I feel so alone.

I lost my dad when I was 21 and my mom died when I was 26. They both died in the 90s. I miss them terribly still. There still is an empty piece in my life. My parents died long before my kids were born. Though I tell my kids about my parents and keep the memories alive. It is in the good times and memories that I have with them that gives me comfort.

Lost both my parents within 7 months of each other. And was also trying to care for one parent in that time frame. My heart is still in shattered pieces. Been a year and a half since I lost my mother and then father. 31 year old orphan.

+RosemarysDaughter82 I can relate rosemary my parents married in their 40's so I knew from a young age that I'd lose my parents sooner then most kids. great anxiety every time the phone rang in my 30's my mom died in febuary 24th 2015. my dad refused to come back to America with me so I promised to return for summer and left him in the care of a cousin. He got sick with a catheter and they took him off the heart meds for 2 months. I worried about that. I went to Greece with plans to open an artey for him since hes off the blood thinner due to prostate problems. On the 4th morning he passed on july 30th. I have guilt that I waited too long. he was 88 but he wanted to live a few more years. he had some alzheimers but he was strong. 4 months apart...........I feel your loss.

I understand the pain. My father past when I was 2 years old and my mother passed away when I was 17. It’s been a struggle to be an adult in this world, especially being an orphan. No one is truly ready to loose their parents. Any loved one for that matter. I’ve just learned to still love my parents even with them not being here physically. The pain lingers but becomes more manageable as years go by.

@@CHAKASHAKA my parents also didn't have me until their mid 40s so I also knew I wasn't going to have my parents in my life for too long. I'm a 33 year old orphan now, I'm almost surprised my mom made it until I was in my 30s so I guess I should be grateful for that.

I'm an adult orphan now. I lost my mother 11 years ago and just lost my dad 2 months ago. I agree that there was the buffer of having my daddy around when my mother died. We leaned on each other and grieved together. Losing daddy hit me differently. I don't have that buffer and it also brought back memories of losing my mom. I just feel so alone.

foxtrot yankee I am so sorry, you are still so young maybe you can reach out to them and try to become closer? I have 2 Aunts that i have never meet and am not close to either. They live in different states. They are my moms sisters and am thinking of reaching out to them but feels wierd. I am in my early 50s and it seems strange at my age. I have a Aunt on my dads side that i knew as a kid but my older brother i think has maybe turned her and my other Aunts against me as he has had contact with them and has kept contact as he is a truck driver and has visited them though the years and has done nothing to get us together as a family. Just his own needs. Dosnt even tell me about them. He has ripped me off when my dad died as his executor of his will and just did the same thing to me when my mom died. So im sure he hasn't anything good to say. So i think im just going to go my own way. I hope you try to have some contact. I am praying for you, just know you matter, your feelings matter, and you always have your parents in your heart!!

Lost my mother in heart 💜 attack on 31st October 2022 and lost my father in the heart 💜 attack on 11th November 2022 just 11 days later. I am now 39. Relatives left me after some showing some fake sympathy. I am now feeling so lonely. I now have to take all the big decision myself without any secondary advice. I never took those decisions before. I remain batchelor so that I could take care of my parents well, and I did my level best within my limited capacity. People are now very bad and I have to fight them alone, ..

I’m an only child, I lost my dad at 90 and mum at 88. I was in my early 50s. I miss them, but with them being so old, and having them around for so long, makes me feel grateful. I’m autistic and have adhd. I have terrific trustees and family friends who look after me and home helps. They are marvellous people. I’ve lost people around my age and not much older than myself and the acceptance has been nowhere near as good. I realise that I could have had it a lot worse.

My dad would drop everything or get out of bed in the middle of the night to help me with anything. I always had a safe ride home or support 24/7. Mom is gone and dad has been homebound since 2020. It scares me to have that lifeline gone. I have always been a loner like my parents. I bought a wrist watch today. It needs some links taken out to fit properly. It made me so sad because he was always my repairman for anything. Now that dad is gone, the buffer between us is gone. I am almost 60 and my filter is almost gone when it comes to dealing with her.
@enjoyslearningandtravel7957
I can relate to this. I lost my only sibling way before I lost both of my parents. I don’t have any first cousins and my brother didn’t have children yet, so I don’t have nephews or nieces.

I lost both my parents at age 10. I lived in the system with no support until I aged out. Life has been so unfair and I struggled with where I belonged my entire life. Nowhere actually. My children are now grown and I'm alone. I wonder if it was my own abandonment issues that I continually pushed people away intentionally to be alone. Now I am lonely. My life has been a psychological whirlwind that I'm still trying to figure out.

It must have happened for a reason. I lost both my parents within 6 months of each other, and I see meaning in it. Only God knows those answers. He knows the patterns of our lives and the reasons behind life events. To lean on Him is the only way forward, like me, I do.

I so appreciate all your heartfelt comments regarding your losses and how this interview spoke to you. Having now experienced the death of my mother in 2016 and my father in 1997, I truly understand more deeply what it was i Understood 6 years ago as we made this video. What I do know is that we push through and do the best we can and take with us the best lessons we have learned from those we've lost. The grief journey doesn't end, it just changes. I am ever so grateful I had My mother as long as I did, my heart goes out to all who have had to say goodbye too soon. No matter the time, it still hurts because we loved so much.

Thank you for your interview. I just found it. My mother just died last month after a brief cancer battle. She was 85. My father died back in 2006 at 82. I'm an only child with no family of my own. Because of COVID-19 I was my mother's sole caregiver (with some hired help). Although my mother's side of the family is large, no one else lives in the immediate area. The experience left me very sad and at times resentful with the burden completely falling on me and my long distant relatives wanting to tell me what to do from afar because of course they know so much better. I have now moved back into the family home. I at least have my mom's good friends and my friends as a support network. I know I will eventually get through this, but for now it's hard when you're surrounded by so many memories.

Anthony Arcanum Sanctum Regnum .i am so sorry for your loss. As i am trying to deal with this at this point in my life i have started a journal to write down every memory as we all know we may not even remember what we had for dinner the night b4. Try to remember feom the time you were born till this moment and put it in what i now call my family journal. So when we cant see there face or hear there voices, we can look back through this and never forget who we are and where we came from. Next thing to do is make your own family, and if its not kids, then friends, and keep them close as this will now be are family! God bless you and im praying for you.

Absolutely - that is a terrible way of looking at things, u must have friends. You are here for a reason, and are a spiritual being made by God. Reach out brother, if u don’t u won’t see your true purpose in life. U had your parents till u were a mature adult, like myself. Focus on that love and all those memories. ‘The Lord giveth ... the Lord take the away’, I have a brilliant church family that I can call on at anytime. They assure me I’m so loved.
