This video is part of a series of beginner's tutorial on miniature painting. The first video in this series, • Intercessor Easy Build... , covers some fundamentals and background that would be useful to review before watching this video.
I have previous discussed how to assemble GW Monopose models in depth in this video, • Building Simple Games ...
My primer on priming, • A Primer on Priming
The kit that appears in this video is available from your Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) or from Games Workshop directly online, www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/...
I have also done a review video on this kit, • New Age of Sigmar Mode...
The other kits I mentioned are these ones; Vindicators + Paints Set, www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/..., and Paint + Tools Set, www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/...

GW should hire you, these videos of yours are providing a much better out of the box tutorial as the official ones!

I'm 39 years old, Tried painting Warhammer miniatures once when I was around 16 - 17 and failed miserably. Picked up a starter set today and paints from my local Warhammer store and found this video, I cannot put into words how grateful I am from your easy to follow tutorial. I truly hope you know that this video helped me do something I have been wanting to do for 20+ years. Thank you!

Getting ready to paint models from the Dominion set this weekend with my son. I am a total noob, using just the stuff from the "paint and tools" set, a can of primer, and a few accessories. (Our first go at painting minis). This is the most helpful video I've come across. Thanks!

Great video. I tried warhammer a couple years ago and just picked up this and a warhammer 20k painting set. I am familiar with painting d&d figures and this video is really helpful.

Great video! Just wanna say, the shield dosn't have to be red (from the Grinnin' Blades) . In the lore, there are also yellow + black shields for the Big Yellers, and purplish black shields for the Skulbugz.

Great tutorial, thanks. Is it worth filling the join cracks in with plastic putty and sanding?

It really comes down to how much time you want to put in, I think it cleans up the look of models a lot, so is worth it. I tend to do it using plastic cement for small gaps and plastic putty for large ones. I have a couple videos discussing various ways to gap fill, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-04-nRFCNm30.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wqkSebgPWHQ.html I recall Vince Venturella's Hobby Cheating video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BH8xp0BJwQo.html being pretty good too

That color contrast seems really well done since most of those paints except for the Mephiston Red are a bit muted in how bright their colors are, which is understandable since it's an ork. The leather and the details on the shield, especially the rivets, look phenomenal after the Agrax Earthshade (I have to be careful not to say "Gloss" since that's what came with my Necrons + paints set) is applied. One thing I really like about this paint set is that unlike the "bad guy" paint set that v2.0 had (Nighthaunts), these Orruk models look more intuitive to put together, whereas my Glaivewraith Stalkers' bodies were so thin that you had to assemble them in left and right halves, which was a bit overwhelming when I was trying to coordinate wraiths' arm positions where they were dual-wielding their glaives while their bodies were bisected down the middle.

Red + Green with neutral elements like brown and silver is a really strong palette to work with, since you get such a nice contrast between the green and the red. There is a reason WHFB orcs favoured it The slightly muted colours and the dirtiness of the Agrax Earthshade really play well into grimy swamp orruk vibe they are going for with these sculpts. You can really imagine a scene of a Stormcast patrol going through a swamp and a bunch of these boyz pop out to ambush. I agree these models are easier to put together then the Nighthaunt ones. I have a partial painted NH army, and I love the look of the scuplts, but man, some of them are a pain to assemble and you always feel like they are going to snap on you. These models still had some issues with poor seam placement, but it is still better than the whole seam right through the pauldron nonsense the older Stormcast have.

Hey, thanks for your video. It's motivates me to paint. I have some questions: 1. Is it ok to prime with black color Orruk guys? In the shop there was only black color, so I bought it. 2. Do you prefer to brush hidden places? like legs from the bottom? Thanks for great content

Priming/undercoating black is a solid route to go since you get some natural shading built in the nooks and crannies. I only primed in grey for the video so my model would resemble unprimed plastic I generally paint in subassemblies/partially assembled, so all the areas are reachable, but when working with an assembled model, black is really nice for an undercoat, since if I cannot easily get my brush in to paint in an area, it is probably in shadow so leaving it black makes sense. Basically if I cannot easily see it when turning the model around, it probably doesn't matter for a gaming/tabletop quality paint job.

This video is a masterpiece, thank you! I have a question, if I can: the "Death Guard Green" spray paint can be used as a primer? (or, are primer colours different from other spray colours?) Thank you!

I legitmately don't know for sure. GW doesn't explicitly say they are a primers, but does list undercoating as one of their uses, which sounds like they are supposed to be used for priming. And GW doesn't really have any other products that are a true primer. I think a lot of people are using them for priming, but I generally don't use rattle cans, so I cannot say for sure. I hesistate from saying yes, because in my understanding of acrylic paints, primers are chemically different from standard acrylics. Specifically normal acrylics bond with other acrylics better than other plastics (like the polystyrene of the model), so will have a tendency to chip and flake off of the model if directly applied to it. A primer is normally a mix of acrylic and another chemical/paint that binds to the surface of the model well, but acrylic paint also binds to it well. Think of it as kinda a glue between the paint and the model. Because GW isn't explicitly saying that their sprays are primers, I am unsure if that means a) they are just straight acrylic and are just an easier method for base coating, or b) they are actually primer, but they don't want to distringuish between base paints and primers for some reason. tl;dr I am not sure, and I don't want you to be led astray by me saying that yup they are a primer and then have models that wear easily. I think people do use them as primer, but I don't know how well that actually works.
