Since they would have to pick one meaning otherwise, and they would lose the second meaning. The first translation of 'Oshi no Ko' means "supporting your favorite idol." The second translates as "the children of the idol you support". Kinda neat as both translations seem to encapsulate the show.

And you will be moved by it. There is also an official English version. The remarkable aspect of this seemingly unnatural English translation is that it not only matches the sounds of the Japanese language but also aligns with the meaning of the story. In many cases, it matches the sound of the beginning and the end of the lyrics. Moreover, after listening to the Japanese version several times, when you listen to the English version, there are parts where it sounds like Japanese despite being in English. Japanese notes, part 2: Ai’s family name, “Hoshino” is used as a pun in various ways: first of all, “hoshi” 星 means “star,” like the stars in her eyes. The title “Oshi no ko” though most obviously can be translated as “Child of my Favorite Idol,” it can be said also as using the pun “Hoshi no ko,” meaning that Aqua (and Ruby) are both children of stars as well as being Ai’s children.
