Notes/Corrections: *You don't actually start with 1 RDP each battle round, so subtract 1 from all my estimations for the lists. *Necropolis Stalkers can only use 1 Dread Falchion per 3 models in the unit, though Precision Aspect applies to all their weapon types, meaning they still rip and tear! *New GHB2020 came out with FAQs and changes - so check those out! Most notably petrifex no longer gives +1 to saves, and so it is now the offensive choice (due to rend), while mortis praetorians is the defensive sub-faction choice.
Absolutely love your videos. Currently looking at commissioning two AOS armies. Definitely enjoy this one a lot, especially your Nagash list. Which other army would you recommend to alongside it?
I’m motivated to go collect those bones!!! I’ve really wanted to start an OBR army but all the negative complaints about them not being fun to play against has delayed my army building. This was a great video and it looks like there are plenty of ways to build this army. I’m ordering some now!!! Can’t wait! Thanks for the great video!
Great content with these overall presentation + list pairs. Looking forward for the rest of them as well, though I realise it is a gargantuan task to record so much since AoS has a lot of armies now.
hey man, just wanted to say that I fucking love the content! criminally underrated lol. I don't even play, just collect but I've been looking into it and yours is easily one of if not the most informative aos channels. Good shit, hope it continues
On your 3rd list, only 1 per 3 stalkers can have the Dread Falchions, so the other 4 would need the spirit blades. Also I am fairly certain Godbone armor negates mortal wounds. In the core rules at the end of the mortal wound description it states: "After they [mortal wounds] have been allocated, a mortal wound is treated in the same manner as any other wound for all rules purposes." Thus, it would be a wound to be negated. Just my thoughts on it.
After doing mountains of my own research and watching your videos on repeat I've decided to go for ossiarchs as my first attempt at an AoS army in earnest (not STD as I'd previously suggested in another video). I was just wondering if you could put something in perspective for me? I've read a lot about how swords are better than spears on both Deathriders and Mortek Guard (especially on smaller units). Thing is I think spears look much much better. I'm hoping to use spears anyway. Is the difference in effectiveness significant enough that this is a really bad idea, or would it just make the units a little less than optimal? I'm not a highly competitive player so I don't mind taking subpar choices, but I don't want to cripple myself to the extent that it makes playing a unit less fun. Thanks for your help. PS - I absolutely adore the style of these videos. There's no pomp or self indulgence. Just information presented precisely yet warmly with charm. I ret hope you so eventually make a few more of these
Comparing MSU units the swords have rend so you'll get like 14% more failed saves ish, depending (or none if the unit has two bonuses to save in which case swords and spears are the same). If you can attack in back ranks from the added reach of spears then spears are better. TLDR: swords are usually better, but situationally worse or even, sometimes.
Could you explain where the first RDP in the lists comes from? I was not under the impression that each list got an auto + 1 RDP. Awesome content, keep it up!
I can see the appeal that this game offers, however with the high model costs it feel its rather hard to play with more then 1 faction from the get go. So that makes choosing your 1st army all the more harder doesnt it. Building a 2k army will easily cost 400-500 euros, thats not something you will spend on several different armies just so you can switch armies and playstyle when you feel like. Some help in this regard woul dbe nice if you could make a vid about that?
Yep, that's what this whole video series is about. Doing 1 or 2 armies per week until people can watch all of them and have a better idea about which one to pick
Can you bring arch-kavalos zantos in other sub factions like petrifex or stalkiarch? I thought he had to be in praetorian because of the key word? Brand new to AoS, so could you clarify?
If a unit has a particular sub-faction keyword on its warscroll, like Zandtos, they can't benefit from specifically the, say, petrifex (if that's your army) allegiance abilities like +1 armor or the command ability, but you can play him in the army just fine.
Do you actually start with 1 rdp command point style, because I can't find that anywhere else, all I see is the 1 for a battalion, 3 for kros', 1 for a hero and 1 for a liege keyword and rolling on 6's for every unit, if it's a core book thing then cool, we'll take all we can get but, I don't see that anywhere and I don't wanna get it wrong on the table
The problem with Immolation is the enemy has to be within 3" of the slain model, but you want to take casualties from the back of the unit near your Harvester :( Still, it would be fun to try and make an "I know Crematorians sucks but it's cool so shut up" List.
