Do you still do repairs on Oster A5 clippers? I have one that wasn't heavily used but I can't seem to get the blades attached properly. My tiny mind can't figure out what I did wrong.
The hinge of the clipper is bad or the socket on the blade is bent. I have blade videos helping with that I'm just not sure what one. Sorry for the late reply, i missed this somehow. Thank you for watching!
It's not always easy to tell. I would make sure that all of the corresponding screws are hand-tight and not loose. After that, it could be an issue with the blade or clipper itself. Not always easy to tell without seeing them in person.
I have a problem with the blade that doesn't hold I don't know if the part that holds the blade breaks because in the part that I thought was your video it gave me distortion can you tell me if I need to change the whole set of this piece of the part that holds the blade? thanks
Hello. If the blade does not lock onto the clipper correctly it could be many a problems. It could be the blade socket is bent or the hinge is worn out or the latch is broken or the latch is not on the hinge correctly. Or the housing of the clipper is broken in the inserts are coming out of the clipper. It's really hard to diagnose something without me looking at it. I hope I helped
@@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 thanks, the lock is pretty loose, i can't find it to work as a button, it's not locking the blade, the problem i live in brazil and i can't find the part, but thanks for your time!
do you know why Oster did not put that oil port on the side of the case to allow periodic oiling of the front bearing? Have you noticed any increase in bearing failures because of the lack of this oil port? Thanks.
Hi probably bc the oil never made it to the bushing. You really need to take it apart to put beneficial oil around it or bc no one uselly ever uses it or maybe even to save cost. Sorry I really don't know why but I've only seen a few go bad and seized up
@@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 Thank you for your response and insight. I agree with you that the BEST thing to do is periodic re-lubing of both the front/rear bearing areas, though HOW OFTEN to do that could be an issue. I know the recommendations for the GREASE in the area of the link/worm gear is every 6 months, but as far as taking the entire thing apart to get at these bearings, I suppose it would be related to hours of use (100 hours? 500 hours?). But your saying you've actually seen seized bearings would indicate that yes, these areas need some type of periodic lubing. Thanks again for your help.
@@drcoolit if you use it everyday for 6 hours for example. I recommend getting it service every 6 months to oil the bushing. The inside of the motor uses oil only bc lube is thicker and it Wil heat up faster. Lube only the gear and lever and link. The ones I seen seized up though usually sit in a barn or have been used for years without service. But I recommend every 6 months just to keep you safe
Ok, I decided to return the A5 clippers to Amazon. Never used. I have old Oster clippers 1 body 4 heads old blades. My mother was a groomer so I learned. However, she didn't take care of the clippers so I have st least 25 blades only 2 of which are cutting. Do you sharpen blades as well? If so, I could ship all to you. Please advise as to time it may takes and a ball park price. OR should I toss all and buy 2 new clippers? I JUST groomed my toy poodle so I have a month to one 1/2 months until next grooming. She's a rescue with a lame hind leg, difficult to find a groomer to take her for under $100. Thank you very much.
Hello. I do sharpen clipper blades. I offer 48-hour turnaround Monday through Friday. $7 each Clipper blade and return shipping cost. Please watch my shipping video on my website if you need help shipping safely so none of the blades get broken at www.Cloudsdiamondsharpening.com
@@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 okay, I want to send my clippers to you as well for refurbishing. IF you find they are beyond repair please notify me and do nothing because I only have that model. Please suggest a replacement for clippers....easy to use. Also, I'm thinking that the blades will only work with that model? Please advise. I can send the info on model If you wish. Thank you for your quick response. Bonnie
Well that's kind of hard to say. If you ran it 6 hours a day, maybe 3-6 month. Depending how the tensions set on your clipper blades and if you use oil on them. The less the clipper has to work to drive that blade, the brushes will last longer
@cloudsdiamondsharpening3973 the 2 screws in the clipper head where the latch is that the blades slide down on. Mine are getting loose from the vibration.
I have a pr of Oster hair clippers that my dad at least75 yrs maybe longer they r hand clippers he used these to cut men's hair witkModel # 105. He gave $2,25 for them they r still in their original box
I want to have you service my new clippers. I have a 7 lb. Toy poodle will groom her once a month. How do I send them to you? I asked earlier if they come pre-oiled/greased if not I don't want to go through the hassle of taking them apart. 😒
Hello. I can make them run a little better but when they are new they don't really need to be serviced but if you really want to some people request me to service them out of the box. Just mail them to me with contact information inside the box with email address.
You have good info, but have you every watched this? You're hands are moving too fast and in front of the item I'm trying to fix. Half of the time your hands are off screen and then flip back so fast. For instance I was trying to put the head back together and the clip that holds the blade. You can't see what you're doing. Whew. I'm cross-eyed from watching this. Good content, bad filming.
I have several videos that would be considered more of the " How-to" variety. Unfortunately, this video is more of a demonstration of me servicing one of my customers clippers and the steps I took with this particular clipper as opposed to a "How-to" video. Thanks for watching!
