I actually did a Lurrus companion draft last night. It went rather well. Especially when the opponent didn't have any removal for it, and I kept bringing back deathtouch and lifelinkers every turn.

Ikoria limited is really unfortunate for lists without 3 or 4 'destroy a fatty.' Did y'all see the 3/4 with Opposition stapled to it??

Cycling deck was correct here. Honestly the cycling deck is so busted and there are do many cyclers and the common payoffs are so powerful and plentiful it’s kind of sucking the fun out of the format. Also imo it’s really obnoxious to me watch a “professional” mtg player repeatedly say “I have no idea what’s going on or what any of these cards do!”

Man, the people in chat really overvalue the companions. Not all of them are that good, only one or two of them are -okay-. Definitely not deserving of snap-picking them just because they have the ability to be a “free card” outside of your deck.

they also totally ignored the fact he had a second marmoset. I could be convinced cutting the extra gremlins for the companion is decent but the marmoset is just straight up a better card the majority of the time

I had some good use out of the 5/5 dude for 5. Only had to cut 1-2 double mana cards from list to fit a free 5/5 for 5. Although the Companion button on modo is auto-minimized; don't forget you have it. Having to reveal your companion seems poor, gives away a lot of combo tricks unavailable.

But that free card is a huge boost: not only a free +1, but a guaranteed filled slot curve. That can be very interesting to build around. You also don't have to stick to them: if you find great cards that you go with the restriction, you can play them as part of your deck, and they all are fine cards.

The second marmoset could easily be cut because he would always know he had a 3 drop. The multiples should’ve been dropped for Lutri, it really is that good to start with an 8 card hand. The goblins were no where near worth keeping in.

Usually I am a big fan of your videos. Not today. You came across way to casual. I know this game is supposed to be fun and it is. You just came of as completely lackadaisical.
