Me too, although there doesn’t seem like a massive improvement on hardware but the software looks more refined. Hopefully I’ll have hands on next month.

I'm still waiting for an AI box that doesn't take a minute to boot into CP. Once someone invents an AI box with the boot speed of 15 sec or less, I'll buy it. I've already tried 2 others (not from Otto) and they're too slow and unstable to use. OttoUltra looks like a smart purchase if I didn't already have a wireless CP solution. Also, I noticed you said the Ultra has a 14 second "re-connect" speed. How long does it take for it to present the CP interface from car/accessory power off?

It’s the same hardware as the Air Pro, and it is similar with 8-11s to menu and around 14-16s into CarPlay interface. This is on my vw system and iOS 17 beta.

Bit of a delay on the p3 video. But I can tell you, don’t get your hopes up. It doesn’t bench as well as the p2.

I read that this one has to long press to switch between android auto and apple carplay. What would you recommend if we use both regularly (I use Android auto, wife uses Apple Carplay)?

Would be good that the new Picasou 3 uses native Android Auto protocol to connect it. I have problems when use Apple CarPlay protocol in my car (Seat Leon) to connect my Android Mobile. I have noticed with a Carlinkit device that when I use Android Auto protocol these problems do not appear.

Both companies sit in different software camps. Each doing their own thing in terms of how they communicate with the car system. I’d say CarlinKit is a little more advanced with that side of things.

Hi Antony, do you know any ai box has both wireless and wired carplay protocol? I want to use one device both with my bmw(which only has wireless carplay connection) and with my audi(which has wired carplay connection)..

Hi. I don’t think such adapter exists. Because of how BMW works I think they have make them to work specifically for the BMW system and they won’t work on anything else.

Is there any solution for a 2011 Toyota Sequoia with the JBL system? It has nav, touch screen, back up, Bluetooth, and a usb port. I just want to keep the head unit.

They all need CarPlay to work so you’ll need to retrofit a newer system, aftermarket or use a CarPlay portable display.

Do any of these offer adjusting the delay sync? On my Honda, it's delay is terrible. Voice is out of sync with video.

My P3 just shipped today. Hopefully I don't gotta wait to long. I haven't seen any reviews yet unfortunately. But I'm optimistic about this one. My MMB Max I have to many issues with it. Just gonna sell it on Facebook cheap. Lol

@CarPlayLife I'm def gonna enjoy it. I loved the P2 with only one issue. The delay on phone calls was ridiculous with it being up to 5 to 10 second delay so I returned it. MMB Max was on point but constantly crashed and many issues with Android auto kicking me out. If the P3 has delays I just gonna deal with it.

Only if it has CarPlay. These 3 need CarPlay to work. If AAuto can’t function it won’t work with AAuto adapters either.

You didn’t get it from this video? 🤦🏻‍♂️ Pro has HDMI IN (as well as OUT) and it uses USB instead of SD for media. Otherwise it’s the same. If that makes the pro better, then go pro. If you don’t need these the stick with non pro

Here's hoping to P3 will be worth it over the P2 and P2 Pro. Gonna wait for that before getting something else. I currently have MMB Max and honestly have nothing but issues. Constantly freezes, doesn't boot up sometimes making me unplug, apps crash frequently, and the address book is hot trash. Can't sort it or anything. It's sorted all out of order and end up using my phone itself to make the call. Only thing good about it is when it ACTUALLY works i don't get that weird 3 to 5 second delay in phone calls.

The P2 and P2 Pro are similarly spec’d so experience is the same. Just different CP/AA app, BT controller support on the CarlinKit , but I find the P2 and P2 pro has a nicer UI, but CarlinKit can look dated it is probably more robust

No it’s the same as the U2-Air Pro just in a different casing. Even the model number on the back is the same 😞

Ah a massive pity. I used ottocast u2x pro and loved it, but switched to the less stable carlinkit 5.0 as I find GPS passthrough important especially when driving through tunnels. The u2x-pro was faster, more stable and more responsive than Carlinkit 4 or 5. I would happily switch back and pay abit of premium if ottocast have an offering with gps passthrough.

They both do software differently since CarlinKit stopped sharing their codebase and did their own thing. Any other brand is just borrowing the old shared way of doing things that I feel they are more focused on parching it with extra compatibility than bringing new features or improving performance.

It was 6GB on the information they gave me at the time. But looking on site it say 8GB, which is great news.

No I haven’t but I’ll try and see if I can. I don’t know if it’s specs I have three new aI box reviews coming to the channel within the next two months. New one from Auroralink, Ottocast P3 and CarlinKit TBox Ambient.

For wireless CarPlay the 5.0 from CarlinKit for gps passthough. Otherwise the u2 air pro would be my go to for its speed.

@@CarPlayLife please what exactly does gps passthrough? I know that it's about using car's gps antenna instead of phone's one. That's why I'm choosing between Ottocast U2Air Pro and Carlinkit 5.0 - what is your use case that you need passthrough? Car drives on main roads, no tunnels, plain road, highways(Peugeot 2008, Slovakia). Thank you

It isn't important really, but knowing you have the best signal connection from the car can overshadow the other adapter. If you have the phone in a pocket or bag, away from the dashboard, then having pass through will offer a better GPS signal and position you more accurately on the map.
