Great info brother, Thanks. Muhammad Al-Fatih was a great man. قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: لتفتحن القسطنطينية فلنعم الأمير أميرها ولنعم الجيش ذلك الجيش.
Yes apparently the only thing going for it was it's size and the devestation it caused "when it worked". Due to its unreliability and huge size, it could only be fired three times a day and would need to be doused in olive oil to stop the cracks inside it enlarging due to the heat. It also killed many of its operators. In the end the thing destroyed itself but it did manage to do serious damage on Constantinople's ramparts. Though this was supplemented by the many smaller accompanying cannons. As you mentioned the Ottoman versions were far more reliable. The one in this video was in use for over 300 years which is insane!
Brother Adnan, I was in the UK and wanted to see the cannon but it was too far out of the way and couldn’t see it. Thank you for going there to sharing this history with us…
Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan was a very hard-working Muslim, he would first work hard and then ask Allah for success. Today's Muslims sit and pray and wait for victory. They have misunderstood the religion of Islam.
Let's put that too. Design and calculations are not made by Urban. He manufactured just one shahi cannon. Few of the guns called shahi has been made for the siege.
True Story: The plan of this Shahi cannon was personally drawn and calculated by Fatih Sultan Mehmet. He was a very talented engineer. Hungarian Orban and an Ottoman foundryman cast this cannon together.

Shahi cannon on display at the Ford Nelson Museum in Portsmouth, England, bears the date Rajab 868 (March 1464). It was cast by a master named Münir Ali. It is 63 cm in diameter, 5.25 meters tall, weighs 8 tons and can fire 300 kg stone cannonballs. The birthplace of this 'lily-patterned' cannon, which is in two pieces connected by screws for ease of transportation and casting, is Istanbul Tophane-i Amire. This is the 'Dardanel' cannon that sank six ships of the navy under the command of John Ducks Worth, who tried to cross the Dardanelles in 1807, with shots fired from the Kilitbahir castle built by Fatih. 1856 General J.H. Lefroy, who came to Çanakkale for the Crimean War, admired this cannon. He gave 1200 pounds sterling to the castle commander and received the answer 'No'. After repeated offers, including the intervention of the embassy, it was taken in exchange for two new experimental Armstrong cannons to be presented to Queen Quenn Victoria in 1868 during Sultan Abdülaziz's visit to England. Münir Ali's cannon was one of the 42 cannons sent by Fatih in 1464 for the defense of the Dardanelles. As a result, 6 of the cannons that served for centuries remain today: The largest of these, the Şahi, is in England, another is in Turin, Italy, and the smaller ones are in the garden of the military museum in Harbiye. Assalamualaikum Ustad. My name is Huzaifa, I'm from India. I've just done my Bachelor of Commerce, but I am interested in History. How should I study the true Islamic History in India. I will wait for your response. Jazakumullahu khayran Ustad.
Did you happen to meet Jonathan Ferguson, Keeper of Firearms and Artillery at the Royal Armouries Museum in the UK, which houses a collection of thousands of iconic weapons from throughout history? Yes, that is his full name 😋
Another fact about istanbul is that if you go to aya sophia you can find an imprint of a small hand also the circles with the names of abu bakr, umar, ali, uthman ra were too big too remove beacuse ataturk wanted them out as he wanted no sign of religion when converting it into a mueseum so yeah any questions you have feel free to ask.
This is the improved version of Urban's design. As powerful as it was, Urban's gun was unreliable and impractical. Infact he himself died when one of his cannons exploded.
This cannon in the video was not used in the siege of Istanbul. It was built after the siege. The cannons used in the siege of Istanbul were too large to be moved. Weighing 60 tons and nine meters long, these cannons were melted down for smaller cannons immediately after the conquest. The largest cannons made by the Turks have not survived to the present day. The largest cannons made by the Turks were made in the mobile cannon foundry near the walls of Istanbul.
There was an ox in the sky, her name was Pervin; And there was an ox under the earth. You are really between two oxen Look at the fight of these donkeys!

Sir if u want to tell urban ustad then u must tell right history why he agreed to came in edirne to sultan Muhammad.Because Urban was betrayed by the mother of Emperor of Constantinople.
This is not Sahi top like the monstrous canon that blew the walls of Constantinople those were 1 to 3 and they were twice as bigger than those and the biggest ones were refined to smaller cannons after conquering Istanbul because there was no need for them and the transport of those cannons were hard and difficult This canon in UK is just a reminder what we could achieve and we can do it better in this time so watch your steps this is why it was send to British empire it was just a reminder :)
You can tell stories very well. But is it sure that the story is true? Europeans like to tell fairy tales when it comes to Muslims :) Anyway, I read a different version in Turkish sources: It is not certain whether it was Orban and he was a simple engineer, but he had a big idea, that's true. The Byzantines rejected it because they didn't want to pay so much. Then he went to the Ottomans. Their engineers were understandably very experienced and had also built several large cannons, but Fatih Sultan Mehmet wanted something new and commissioned this man. But his cannon has broken during use in Istanbul, so the others were used. The engineers were called Saruca and Muslihiddin. Maybe you can find that in Ottoman sources.
As a Muslim Turk i think it is bad move to gift it to enemies of Islam its our history but people can see at UK instead of they can see in Türkiye. Last Sultans seperated from muslims and be friend and tried to ally with non muslim britain most powerful empire at that time and thats why Ottomans collapsed and deserved to be destroyed. We can be better than Ottomans in the future as an Ummah. If we dont afraid from the death and improve ourselves. Allahualem @@sharetruth9010
