This scene is so sad, yet it's one of my favorite scenes. The emotion is played brilliantly. Moments btwn Regina and Cora always have such depth. Lana and Barbara are perfection, and play off each other so well.
I know its been 2 years seen you posted this but I have to say I agree. Their scenes together are the best. I would love to see them work together again one day
8 years since this scene and I still believe is one of the most sad I had seen on a tv show. The pain in not being able to forgive and move on. The pain in holding onto old beliefs
This scene is such sublime. From the acting to the dialogues. I love Cora's point, hurting yourself is not strength but Regina's plea at the end. Get the hell out of my life. Ouch, just perfect.
I realized that I was standing in the way of my own happiness after I saw this scene. After I decided to let myself be happy I met the love of my life, and now four years later we are married. I still feel sad sometimes but I do my best to turn thing around.
This thing that Cora Regina and Zelena all have in common is they can't except that they could to be happy their entire life it seems that happiness was not something that they could achieve and when they see that they have the chance to be happy they automatically think it's a lie and that is probably the saddest thing that could ever happen. They self destruct and truly get in the way of their happiness.
This will always be one of my favorite scenes. When Regina uses Cora’s words against her and shows Cora the extent of the way she pushed Regina. Just sucks that she never tried to find a way to reverse the effects. But at least she was able to adopt Henry
Cora was right in saying that Regina is the only person standing in the way of her own happiness. But I didn't like that Cora didn't admit what she did. What she did was wrong. Trying to persuade The sheriff to impregnate Regina.
Why was this never undone.... or talked about ever again. Regina was destined to become a mother when the right person came along in her life to wake her up with true love's kiss.
I think that deep down just by looking at the way the evil Queen looked at the glass with a sad look meant that deep down she never wanted to harm herself though she was evil Queen and I'm sure that Regina now regrets what she did to herself back when she was evil. I think that because Cora had such odd ways to help her daughter that when she actually wanted to help her Regina shut her out the same way Emma shut her mother out. Because to Regina her mother was the one that killed her first true love Daniel and I'm sure that she will never be able to let it go. But I do hope that Cora could be a better mother to Regina and I can't wait for Barbra to return to once again because she has such great chemistry with Lana parrilla that it's so dark and evil, I can't wait to see what Adam and Eddie have in store for there relationship
Sometimes, I don't really understand Cora. She claims she loves Regina & does want her daughter to be happy, but she has a funny way of showing it. Maybe her intentions were meant well, but having someone pretend to be her soulmate is misguiding & insulting to Regina's intelligence. I never thought I would agree with Cora, but she is right about getting in your own way of your own happiness. Regina did it to herself, now she can't have a biological baby. She was only hurting herself.
I can understand Cora, because my mother is a lot like her. My mother wants me and my sister to have the life she never got, and protect us from the mistakes she has made. And though I thank her for that, she's also hurting us, keeping us from living, feeling, and experiencing things. So Cora is literally a tough love mother, misguided and hardly satisfied, If only she didn't rip out her heart and let her mind cloud her judgment.
Well said! A very good observation. Cora came from a place of feeling "not enough" which is why she was so power hungry & wanted Regina to be Queen. Cora thought she could vicariously live through Regina to over-compensate for her inadequacies. She thought she was giving her daughter the world with…status, fancy ball gowns, a kingdom, etc. But, all she was really doing was making Regina become someone Cora wants her to be, not accepting Regina for who she really is. In the first season, Regina made it clear to Cora that she didn't care about status, but Cora didn't care to listen thinking she knew what was best for her daughter. The moral of the story is self-acceptance & self-love. If Cora accepted herself as she was & chose to love herself unconditionally, then she would have been a better mother to Regina. She wouldn't have pushed Regina so hard or pushed her away…she would know that true love doesn't see weaknesses, flaws & inadequacies…it only sees everything is in its beauty & perfection, nothing more or less. I think all Regina wanted was to be her true authentic self & to be loved for who she really is.

@@MasonPerry7but Cora doesn’t have her heart right I mean she kept it out of her body of the “love is weakness” so yeah everything she until when Regina put back her heart. She loved again?
I don't know guys, I feel like if I was Regina I would have done the same thing. Cora is the root for all her sadness and despair. She wouldn't be the evil queen if Cora hadn't killed Daniel. Her mother always had something up her sleeve and was far too dark for anyone to see when she's actually being a genuine mother. She's says she's done everything for Regina and it might have started out that way but she even killed her first love then faked the second one, come on. She's been a ruthless b*tch for power who knows what would have actually gone down even if Regina didn't drink that potion.
No Rumple made the evil queen. Regina was going to walk away from all of it and go back home but Rumple stopped her and convinced her to return to being a queen in a loveless marriage. He then trapped her by telling her she was irredeemable and that she had no choice to follow the course HE set for her; allowing her rage, resentment and hopelessness roil.
@@soixsantes She was supposed to marry Leopold until Eva ruined it. Had that happened Zelena would have been the next in line. But I doubt very seriously that their lives would have been any better. Cora would still have killed Leopold and took the kingdom for herself.
@@creativewriter3887 I don't think she would have, she genuinely liked perhaps loved Leopold, she wasn't at this point, she didn't have magic and hadn't met anyone with it.
Prince Leopold would have known Zelena wasn't his... but then again maybe not. And there's no way of knowing that Zelena's father OR someone else wouldn't have tried to blackmail Cora. I don't know if Cora would have chosen to learn magic.. Rumple would have no doubt corrupted Zelena and who knows what would have happened to Regina. Somehow, though, given Rumple's machinations, he may still have gotten rid of Cora and have his Evil Queen Zelena.. and his "insurance policy" .. Regina. OR worse.. Regina marries and she becomes the "snow white" of the story and her child is the product of true love. it could go in about a dozen different ways.. :)
@ least until season 2 revealed Cora brought some of spring back in enchanted forest after its drying (Who needs that siren anyway, lake notes was meant to be shared, but have siren board all water for herself)
If regina had a kid cora would've corrupted it. Regina doesn't want to put her child through the pain she had , and possibly regina would never be around her own kid. , because of cora always taking the kid away or something
Part of me still thinks that Cora was goading Regina to do this. With Regina out of the running, she can break her and then take the kingdom. However, let's call it out.. Cora and Regina were simply pawns in Rumple's plan to drive Regina to cast his curse.
@Superadambonanni yes there is! but not a posion ... water from lake nostos where you can get back what was once lost. ... remember when snow drank the same posion as regina... well she cured it by drinking the water from lake nostos.
hope so that way Regina can have robins child. she would be a good step mother to Roland and zelina's child but i think she still wants a biological child of her own because henery may be her son but he is emma's as well
+superadam bonanni There's the water of Lake Nostos. What She used in Season two to get the ashes of the Enchanted tree to create a portal to Storybrooke. It's waters have Regenerative Properties. that potion basically sterilized her womb. If regina wanted to be able to conceive ever again, and undo that potion, She would need to Drink from the Well of Wonders. Every Magical realm has one According to ONCE: in Wonderland. Storybrooke has one.
I realized that Cora didn’t have her heart ever since she met rumple. So I guess everything she does without her heart and until that moment when Regina put back her heart inside her. Cora smile and her last words was heartbreaking
I really thought Cora was gonna do one good thing for Regina,by making her and her soulmate meet each other!to at least earn Regina's forgiveness but no!again manipulating her with the wrong guy, again for her own benefits! no wonder Regina never wanted to trust her again during S2,Cora truly disappointed me in this episode!
Its very clear in this scene despite all the hurt and suffering Cora has put Regina though, She really does love Regina. But there has just been to much hurt between them that Regina refuses to see Cora is actually trying to make up for her mistakes.
@@soixsantes At the end of the day Cora is still evil. She would of killed him. But Cora is just like Rumple who loves his power and loves Belle at the same time.Cora would still use any means to become more powerful and make sure Regina was as well. But this scene shows, that once there Cora wanted Regina to be happy. So she did care in her own twisted way.
Snow was tricked into taking the same potion and it was reversed by her drinking from a magical river. But I think it's dried up. I'm sure there's some other way though.
Regina may have indirectly saved Snow here. Had Regina had children, I have no doubt Cora would have had Snow die in an “accident”, so Regina’s children would be on the throne.
Cora can't get her own life? She NEVER wanted to be Queen Killing her first love was one thing but this wasn't helping this was trying to Controlling her again
What I don't like about this scene is that Cora admits she was wrong about "Love is weakness." But if you looks back at season 2 up to her death she still holds on to that claim.
I don’t think Cora really believed that here. That seemed like a desperate attempt to stop Regina from drinking the potion. After all, the measure of how well you raised your child can often be found in how they treat themselves, so I honestly think this is the first time Cora realized just how badly she had screwed up Regina.
@@soixsantes she feared he would turn out to be just like Zelena's biological father and that Regina would be a woman reliant on Daniel instead of self sufficient, which for her, is only achievable if a person craves for endless power. And besides, it's very likely she saw Regina more like the begining of a dinasty rather than a daughter.
