I'm interested to see how it turns out. I have a 5.3Ls and 4L80e for my 81 Vette. Engine is from a 04 Tahoe and transmission from a 05 2500. I haven't started the build yet still need a lot of stuff but I will most likely post videos on youtube. I also have the Holley terminator x max harness to power my stuff.

O cool man. I'll definitely keep an eye out for your stuff! It will be interesting to see how it fits in. At least I know my exhaust won't be in the way lol! I'll hopefully get going on it pretty soon. The Temps are starting to rise up here finally!

What kind of exhaust are you running? I'm going to make the videos we I get everything. I didn't have luck at the junkyards for the trans I paid $1100 hopefully I get it tomorrow. Your further ahead than I am. Check out brphotrods.com

We have a video where we made a custom set of stainless sidepipe headers. Then I did a walk through video installing really nice 4" insert mufflers with 3" cores from classic chambered exhaust. Hes a nice guy. They really sounds great!

Is there a way where you can keep the old bell housing from the old transmission and but it on the new rebuild one

They all bolt up the same plus or minus 1 bolt. All the other bolts are the same. Unfortunately on these chevy transmissions the bellhousings are part of the transmission case. There are some racing bell housings that have you cut the case then bolt it on through the front pump bolts. They are fairly pricey and you had better cut it just right or its all junk. There have been so many of these transmissions made its just easier to get another one. Junk yards are loaded with them and chevy only really used 1 bolt pattern for most of their v8 stuff.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 4l80e to replace my TH350. Does the 4l80e fit in the trans tunnel without any fabrication? I have a 383 stroker that produces around 460tq and 450hp. I'd like to have a strong transmission that will not need to be rebuilt every couple years.

It's going to be interesting to find that out lol. I sure hope so. I bought a transmission crossmember that's supposed to help it all work, but from what I have found in this business nothing fits well lol. The parts just increase in price and decrease in quality and fitment. As soon as I get to put it in, this spring, I will put out a video or multiple videos showing how it goes!

Did you install the 4L80E yet? I was curious I may be converting my 1970 to an auto trans. Will be putting in a built 454.

Yes I did get it in and on the road. There's a few more things I have to do to it to get it perfect, but she's going well. If people are interested I can get a video together going over some of the details

Thanks for the update. How much work did you have to do to the tunnel? What about the shifter area, and what shifter did you put in it?

The tunnel doesn't need much if any on the fiberglass floor cars. Just need to get the lines threaded in before you go up all the way. I used the factory floor shifter with an overdrive conversion kit so it had the right gate. I like the factory look
