A run through the pedals and amps we used on our most recent live shows
Life too short for long videos? ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ info below.
Welcome! As we wind down for summer, we're taking a look at our current personal rigs. We’ve just finished a short run of dates with the incredible Andy Timmons and thusly received a ton of questions about our guitars, pedals and amps.
We went through Andy’s rig a couple of weeks ago - video here • Andy Timmons Visits TP...
It's time to run what we brung.
Enjoy the show!

That's a good one. But, I really do understand, a bit, why they had to change up . I too, was getting a bit burned out with the same old as I had watched D&M since the first show. It was perfect timing for me, it was time that the show delved into other parts of the rig. I loved it all, cheers!

@@danolivier4899 to be honest, the pedalboard thing scares me way more than it should. I know that building an effective pedalboard is really about creating an effective rig. I think I have it, but then the next, " it" pedal hits the arena and I'm tone hunting again. I need to get to a point of NoMore Gear Whore before I'm ready!

Everyone is rightfully freaking out about this episode, and it is truly a culmination of everything we have all learned since the show’s introduction. However, what brings me so much joy is that you’re both driven to this amazing gear by the joy of gigging (after a very long time of no live playing), i.e., the basis of all our time spent on this channel. You guys remind me the simple joy of being a gigging guitarist (and a loud one at that) every week. Cheers

Wow. What a way to go out on hiatus. This was the pinnacle of the TPS journey so far. Each of you built a rig that played to his strengths and tastes, covered immense ground and provided every type of sound the gig needed. All the concepts that have been discussed over the last few years - applied to perfection (and in a very different, personal way for each of you) to get you where you need to be. From now on, if I have to explain TPS to a friend and why so many people love it so much, all I have to do is point to this episode. Enjoy the time off, we’ll be here replaying this in the mean time. Upfront: D&M - Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge and time (editing videos, research, planning, executing all stuff TPS store, shop, experience days, guests, vLogs, etc. and so on). It mean so much to me (and IMHO guitarists everywhere) that you are choosing to give in this way. Dan I love your musical musings; always impressed by the depth of your knowledge and the thoughfullness that goes in to your sonic approach. Mick I am following you down the amp rabbit hole ... Mesa Boogie California Tweed; 2Rock CRS (mine is 50 watt .. i love this amp .. wowsie!); working on a stereo power (likely fayetteville) amp with Kingsley preamps loving the Juggler ... keeping my 55 fender tweed deluxe 😄. Cheers!

Harmonic trem, heavy overdrive, octave fuzz... on a 12-string. That's just complete madness. And totally glorious. Amazing episode! Thank you!

Nice! I love having my tensor on my board even though I’m not using it all of the time. I find some really cool ideas with it when I mess around.

Multiple follow up thoughts after this one: - Paul Davids has done a great video on the ‘Message in a Bottle’ harmony of anyone wants to learn it - Mick, your gainy tones on that strat are insane - That massive 12 string gains are giving my wallet palpitations. Not sure i’d ever get opportunity to make those noises in my context but wow! - HRM is now on the need to buy list - Dan’s soundscaping is majestic - Need to revisit my chorus options, I think I’m being too heavy handed with it - I need a gold top! Not sure if humbuggies, P90s or even Filtertrons but I need a mahogany single cut in gold! Having watched the EV episode recently, I have a level of intrigue as to how one would sound in my Laney, or even how could an emulation Two Notes have one for my silent rig Killer show gents, thank you both

Guys.... This was simply brilliant.. Brilliant. :) It's like.. the summit of what your mission with this channel is supposed to be, i reckon. I learned so much. Both sides of my brain_ theory/gear AND audio/tone knowledge. So thank you so much. I am a multi-instrument guy, preparing a live-looping Project...and guitara are so precious to me. I really love this channel, and all your 'signature shenanigans'.. Massive thank you, from Portugal

Hello Boys, I just had to say that you don’t know how happy it makes me to hear the amplifier humming and making noise in the beginning of this video. Usually, I don’t notice it in RU-vid videos and then when I turn my own amp on, I am disappointment. You have excellent equipment and your Amp still hums. God bless it.

I think it’s also true to say that there is a whole lot of genius in the folks that made these songs in the first place when you consider the work that has to go in to get in the ball park.

Love this show been watching for years now! Here's an idea: Replicate viewers pedal boards in your studio using the exact same pedals and review them and make suggestions what they can do to make them better...please start with mine, just let me know where to send the picture! 😁

Hey Dan & Mick, just wanted to say that back in 2015 I decided to switch instruments from a high level piano background to electric guitar. I literally had no idea how to use amps, pedals, or gear of any kind. Admittedly, it was a little overwhelming. At some point though, I found your show and after watching a few episodes it taught me how to actually be a guitarist, dial in usable sounds, eq amplifiers and many other things, not to mention an overall sense and passion for what playing and hearing electric guitar is all about. Thanks!!
