Thank you for the new episode. Good to see you getting out there. I've been layed up this week with an injury probably because I over did it with my exercising I think. Because I didn't get out there I became a bit depressed so I spent a lot of my time this weekend watching your vlogs to help me feel better. I'm now feeling like getting out there tomorrow. Thanks again very much. Regards
Thank you so much, Howard Lee! 🙏 I haven't been able to run or jog outside because of the pain on my leg. Probably I did too much workout too. 😅 Let's take easy on us for a while and recover as soon as possible! Thanks again for your comment! Have an amazing day! 😊
That's right! High 1 has a lot of terrain open in January and February that wasn't open on the opening day. We will make another video about it when it's all open hopefully by the beginning of January or a bit later to show what it has. It's definitely the best place we've been to in Korea though (still haven't been to Muju yet so maybe that's better, we'll find out this year!)
May I know when was the trip? I am planning for a trip to Korea coming early Dec... if possible, I want to plan a ski trip but not sure which ski resort will be opened in early Dec.
Hi Ronald this video was on December 3rd which was the opening day, and these were the opening dates in 2021: blog.trazy.com/korea-ski-resort-opening-dates/ These dates will probably change a bit this year (they won't announce until a few days before opening unfortunately). Personally I'd recommend Yongpyong or High 1 for a trip in early December, but just so you know there will only be 1-3 runs open at the most, so I'd only recommend a ski trip in early December if it's something you can't do in your home country easily.
Cheers for the info. I'm planning on a trip in February, but I'm struggling to find information about accommodation options near High1 (as the accommodation at the resort seem to be sold out). Is it viable/possible to stay at Jeongseon Intoraon Hotel, and to head up to the slopes every day for a week?
Hi there! There is a shuttle bus that goes in between High1 Resort and Sabuk Station so it won't be a problem: www.high1.com/www/contents.do?key=1822 (In Korean so translate on Google Chrome). It looks like it leaves at 06:20 09:13 10:17 11:17 in the mornings (www.high1.com/www/busSchedule.do?key=2075), but double check the time in February, as it might change then.
Thanks! I plan on going there in a few weeks. Where do you recommend a foreigner stay while near high1? You said the condo system wasn't great for foreigners, right?
The condo system is okay for foreigners! It's just if you live in Korea and reserve under Yanolja it forces you to reserve with your Korean alphabet name, and then the condo forces you to check in with the English alphabet if you are a foreigner so you have to go to the front desk to explain that to them. If you don't live in Korea and can't use Yanolja then you can reserve in English from a website like Expedia or Booking and you can check in electronically most likely (although I haven't tried). The best places I would recommend are: 1) Mountain Condo - This will get you right on the mountain so you can just walk out and ski. Definitely the best experience overall. 2) High 1 Grand Hotel - This is the more "luxurious" experience and there is a casino and restaurants right inside the hotel. You will have to take a shuttle bus to ski/snowboard. 3) May Hills Resort Gohan - This is the budget option, and it's not right on the resort, but there is a free shuttle that leaves every 15 minutes or so to the hill and it's right beside Gohan which has some more traditional Korean restaurants and a nice walking path.
Thanks a lot Fourkids! 😊 The snow is hard pack for sure since it's all manmade. I don't think High 1 offers lessons in English, but Yongpyong resort offers them! I don't think there are packages for multiple days though. www.yongpyong.co.kr/eng/skiNboard/utilizationFee/lessonCharge.do
The handprint is how you prove your identification at ski resorts. You need to register it when you buy a season's pass, and then every time you go to the ski hill you have to authenticate with your hand to ride the lifts. Pretty futuristic system! Haha
@anastasiav.206 Foreigners can get discounts at any of the third party rental shops in Gohan. If you take the shuttle bus to High 1, you can walk from the bus stop down the stairs to Gohan, and there are a lot of ski shops there.
