Our Finnish-Indian baby's first days with family - vaccinations, first Kerala meal and coming home!

Our Finnish Indian baby girl was born in an emergency C-section at Payyanur Co-operative hospital (Kerala) in February. C-section being a major surgery, it obviously left me, her mother, quite unable to take care of her on my own due to pain and heavy medication. So thankfully, I had not only my husband, but also his parents at the hospital with us, to help take care of both our daughter and me during the recovery, which is still a common tradition in India. After a few nights at the hospital, we were discharged and got Annika her first vaccinations at the nearby government hospital. We went for Annika's first Kerala veg meal and from there headed back home, for the very first time as a whole complete family!

I understand that a lot of people want to advise you out of the sweetness of their hearts as to what the parents should do and not but I feel we need to accept that nothing is perfect(there are many right ways) and am sure if anyone of us captured and shared these moments there will be people pointing out the same. Nevertheless, my intention and wish for the family is that all of you stay healthy and happy :)

It doesn’t matter that you had a c-section or couldn’t breastfeed right away. The most important thing is that your baby girl was born healthy and that you are feeding her. She’s soooooo cute!!!! I am so happy your mother-in-law and father-in-law was there to help you both. What a blessing.

Johanna, you radiate such warmth, love and positive energy, that lingers with me even after I finish viewing your video. One day when I was feeling rather homesick, missing my mom who resides in my hometown of Kannur, I came upon your video andI clicked on it . Ever since then I have been watching your many videos. Public Health Care system has seen a huge improvement in last 3-4 years. It's facilities are comparable with private hospitals.
