The studio version is very good, BUT, sitting in an arena and hearing Steve belt this out is priceless. I know, been there, done that and had the T-shirt. July 1983.

This song inspired Prince’s Purple Rain. He told Journey about it- they said, “ No problem” . He replied, “ I already recorded it!” Steve’s vocal idol is the great Sam Cooke. Listen to Sam’s “ Cupid”- you can’t unhear it. They even share a birthday!

Jonathan Cain the Keyboardist wrote this song for his then wife Tane'. This video was taken from Journey's documentary 'Frontiers And Beyond'. Which you should react to. It's about life on the road, not only for Journey but for the road crew as well. It's very cool watching the crew put the stage together and then tear it down!

Pure talent no auto tune needed

Neal Schon is the guitarist and founder of the band. Neal started with Santana when he was 17, early 70’s. Left to start in 1974-5. Started Journey , got a manager Herbie. Needed a singer he, Herbie, was sent a tape of Steve’s band that was going to sign with Columbia records on a Monday. The bass player and did vocals with Steve, was killed 2 days in a traffic accident. Herbie got a hold of Steve and the rest is great 👍 music

Love Steve Perry and journey, but with him. Amazing singer, super soulful! One of the best singers in popular music history. I saw them live in Oakland in 1979 when I was 14. Shocking. He sounded better live than on the records. Much love from California.

Find the video of Journey doing this song in concert in Japan, I think 1983. Steve was sick but wouldn't cancel the concert. Even sick, he sounds better live than the recording studio (that's what you're listening to here). It's an incredible performance! Find that video! You'll be blown away!

Neal Schon was a guitarist for Santana. He and Greg Rolie quit Santana. They founded Journey. Santana, Journey and I were born in San Francisco. I grew up listening to both bands. 40 years.🎂 Faithfully was released in 1983. Written by Jonathan Cain. He is on piano and synth. Steve Perry was the lead singer. The lead singer now is Arnel Pineda. Neal Schon discovered AP on the Internet! The late Prince called Jonathan Cain to have him listen to Purple Rain because he thought it sounded like Faithfully and didn’t want to step on any toes. JC said Purple Rain was inspired by Faithfully but not copied. JC gave a big thumbs up! 👍 RIP Prince. Drums by Steve Smith. 🥁 Same year, 1983. Faithfully song sounds like Heaven. Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. BA needed a drummer to record Heaven. His drummer Mickey Curry was not available because he was required by a prior contract to play with another musician. Those that say it's ok he left because Journey found others who sound just like him are the ones that drink off brand cola and call it coke. He was irreplaceable.

Steves voice hit me in the face like a brick. First person that did that was Robert Plant. Neal Shon's guitar on par with Jimmy Page. Steve Smith on drums not unlike John Bonham. Johnathon Cain keyboard and guitar talent a match to John Paul Jones. Journey is the American Led Zeppelin. 4 platinum albums. All tours sold out arenas. Now with Arnel Pineda selling out concerts again. It took forever to get in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame but the Journey was worth it.
