We moved to Mexico about 6 months ago even though we have been visiting for quite a while. Currently we are in Morelia Michoacan but we will be moving soon. Mexico in general has amazing people, fantastic food, excellent weather and so much more! most of the people are very kind, loving and welcoming.

I have to mention that I said in the video in York City we were paying around 2k USD for 1500 sqft... I meant to say 800 sqft. 1500 sqft for 2k in NYC would be a dream lol. I also wanted to mention that if we didn't get this place furnished then we would have only been spending about $250 USD a month.

I relocated to Morelia almost three years ago. My wife is a Mexican citizen and I'm from Reno, Nevada. The people, culture, architecture, food, and cost of living are ALL amazing! We rent a beautiful, nearly 4000 sq ft home, 3 bdrm/3 ba, in a very nice neighborhood for 8000 pesos ($400 USD) per month. We've never been approached or victimized by ANY crime in the city either. The only issue I've had is the water system. Compared to the US, it's a little strange, but assimilation is key. One of the best things, is not needing to heat or cool the house, eliminating the high bills we used to get. It's proven to be the best move I've ever made...

Thank you for the tour. That’s a nice big place with modern furniture/decore. We’re here in Baja and have a fairly similar water setup except ours flows directly from the Cisterna to the house. What are the temperatures like there? Love that solar system too. 7:11. BTW, we have a 10k L tank and it costs approximately 1200 pesos.

You’re very welcome! The weather was one of our biggest reasons for coming here. It’s like 70’s and 80’s it depends on the season. Right now it is the rainy season so it low 50’s and high about 80. That’s awesome about your water tank! We love BCS and we especially love La Paz, however it’s a bit too hot for me over there

Wellhowdy! Welcome to Morelia, I was living there for 20 years, where I can recommend it the southside is the most peaceful zone in the city, I could recommend you to go to "La Troje" Restaurant or to the "Emilio's' Restaurant, the are both expensive but fantastic places where you can enjoy the traditional food from the city and also you can visit a lot of traditional mexican restaurants there.

It was a great apartment! Plenty of room! I think that there are not as many furnished rentals in Morelia (off Airbnb) as compared to some other places in Mexico such as the Lake Chapala area. They do definitely exist it just may be a bit harder to find. I suggest you join a Facebook group for Morelia rentals.

I’m a biracial (African American/Caucasian😵‍💫) woman. How would I fair here? People say that I would not be welcomed. I am also limited in Spanish, but would assimilate and I’m eager to learn the language. I consider myself humble and I’m looking to adjust and learn and grow with the natives and their culture. @@chasingtheAmericanDream AN UNUSUALLY LONG RESPONSE: 😃 Hello & thank you so much for reading & responding. That’s awesome. It’s great to hear that you’re going do a piece on helping those of us that wish to follow, to a greater frontier or new beginnings! I do still reside in the US. * In your opinion, what is the lowest monthly income in US $ needed for one person to live very modest to modestly? By modest I mean simple comfortability and safety? Say a “clean”, yet small place, in a good neighborhood. * What is the minimum you would unofficially recommend to get one’s feet on the ground? * What areas would you recommend for others like myself to look at for relocating? * Is it possible to connect with a local, who is trustworthy who for a fee would be willing to help? * Also what’s your experience with cost for medical? From your perspective & those you’ve met since living there? Say, there Vs here in the US? * Any other information you think is good to know, that maybe people don’t realize until they’re already there. Because this in a response to a comment, I doubt many will see this. So, I’ll speak more on a personal level. I have a few medical issues two being a bullet lodged in my back next to spine & ptsd. With the “war on opioids” being waged against honest pain patients like myself, those fighting cancer like my mother, MA, all dealing with pain from things we never wanted. We’re being taken off all such medications. Quality of life already hard, made so much worse. And with every violent crime on the news, every night, comes the memories of my own. I want to get away from all of the craziness. Coupled with a lack of affordable housing, the lacking things like dental, vision, and any meaningful medical. I truly feel like a move like this would be so beneficial for my health, for my life, on so many levels. You taking the time to read and respond is great. I really appreciate it. To do an episode on this topic is…really cool of you. Like laying the groundwork or a rough road map to “how to make this happen”. I’ll be waiting & watching! Thank you and Be well…Ian Thank you for the 🙏…means allot to me.

Is it because you can speak Spanish well for that you can live in a local community? while many other expats live in expats community mainly because they don’t speak Spanish well, then expats can’t speak Spanish and the locals don’t speak English, it’s hard to communicate and even a simple task to call someone to re-fill water tank would be a very daunting task!

Oh brother where to start... What do you mean Mexicans don't use ovens? And no. We do not only have stove tops😂🤔 people that live in the rural areas I would say about 60% don't have stove ovens but they'll have some other type of oven. The cisterna in the garage is only used to store water for when there's no "agua de la calle". Not a lot of houses in Mexico have cisternas but they are very common
@chasingtheAmericanDream
@chasingtheAmericanDream 26 дней назад
I never said that Mexican people don't use ovens. I said that they don't typically use ovens. By your own admitted statistics I am correct. Also, This information was given to us by our Mexican family (of which we have a lot) over here in mexico. We've also traveled a great deal throughout Mexico and this was one of the only places that actually had an oven. The cistern in the garage gets filled with water from the well and then it gets sucked to the roof to be held in the tinaco. We know this because we have to periodically fill the cistern because the well doesn't provide enough water.

Actually, if you watch our videos, you will see that is not the case. We show both the GOOD and BAD. We show Mexico for how it really is not for how people may want to see it as or how people perceive it from watching the news. In this particular video, we were sharing where we personally lived in Morelia. Not everything in Mexico is cheaper, I actually did a video explaining what things are more expensive in Mexico and vise versa.
