They are so calm and respectful of each other. Basis of a good marriage. Erin is a great home maker. Not to mention Chad, jack of all trades, and good at all of them. I really enjoy watching them.

I’ve always struggled with being able to put on paper what’s thought in my mind. The best way I can describe you two as is a fairytale. I know nobodies perfect but I do believe god creates humans like you two to show us is not as hard to strive to be god like. The talents you two share between y’all are amazing. Chad was put here to build a community of all sorts of phenomenal things while Erin nurtures the entire community to flourish.

I loved this! We are the same with arguing/fighting...I don't even say it often because it seems too good to be true. Haha! But really, I think we've had two or three arguments in our 13 years of marriage. We disagree sometimes, but we talk it out, or give each other some space, and there's no raised voices. We respect and love each other, and don't expect the other to always agree!

One thing I wonder is, how do you raise your kiddos to live in the love and gentleness and kindness of Christ so beautifully and homeschool? What are your parenting methods? I've been a nanny/babysitter for several years and I've seen so many families where the kids are just constantly doing negative things for negative attention. My husband and I hope to start a family be it God's will in the spring, and I am eager to hear about all the ways you can set your kids up for love and gentleness and the fruit of the Spirit to overflow in the home.

Late question: How do you maintain a close relationship with your younger siblings when you have a family of your own?

My husband and I were married for 32 years but together for 35 years and never really fought. Not until he got dementia. Then I felt bad but raised my voice quite a few times. What helped us was we both pretty much liked the same things. I love watching your videos. You are a beautiful couple.

I love the idea of No TV. I wish I would've never gotten one. I also love mowing lol

my husband was a great cook and did all the cooking. i did the yard work. it worked for us so it was fine regardless of what anyone else thought. if the garbage needed taken out, the dishes or clothes washed, they got done by us together or saw that it needed to be done and did it. there was never any 'his' or 'her' jobs so we could teach the children to be independent (my husband grew up in an orphanage and was taught to do the things that mothers normally would do because they had to do it for themselves)

We raised our kids without TV and I don’t know how we would’ve had time to watch. Later I was able to watch you all from the UP Faith and Family app. I see so many people let the screen be their babysitters and that’s all my nephew knows. It breaks my heart. He’s 12 and still can’t ride a bike. You all are awesome parents! I enjoy your show and I’m glad that you have this channel on You Tube!! God bless you all!!

We have been married nearly 16 years and never a fight. Of course we have disagreements, like you said we are 2 different people. We both know that our Faith will see us through the storms.

Erin, on Bringing Up Bates I thought that I saw a TV in your house. I think it was used to play VCR tapes though? Is that true? I think your mom or dad mentioned that the TV was only turned on for things like educational programming or movie nights. In any case, it is a good idea to not have TVs or limit the use of televisions in homes. I grew up as a young child in the 1970s and mostly put puzzles together, read, did coloring books, & just played outside. We had a TV, but it was only used if my mom saw a movie that was going to air that the family could watch together.

We don’t have a TV either, and honestly it’s great for a family because it means you do more talking instead of watching.

I love your answer to if you have set responsibilities. It should DEFINITELY be a tag team. I don't like that notion that the woman has to do all the cooking & cleaning. Men need food & a clean space just as much as women.

people never believe me either when i say my husband and i dont argue. 16 years and we've had 1 fight persay. but it was more a little yelling because we hadnt had any sleep and just stressed out... We are both laid back and think things just are not that serious we try to find the humor and love in every moment. and just give each other space when we need it

Ha ha --I mow too and all yard work as well, hubby does the dishes. We both cook together. I love doing laundry, he folds hangs his own si ce hes retired now. It works and thats all that matters! 42 yrs and a wonderful process, team work here.

My family have little farm. I am glad you don’t have a tv. The shows on the tv are not the best. Waste of cable/ money. The only benefit of a tv is watching your current shows on. Like family TLC or watching the Bates Up TV. Now can get shows on different apps. There no point in have large screen. Not going to use much. Definitely easy be expose to the screen and be addicted. Good that you limit it.
