@@Dufjans If the miner is plugged into the electricity and you connect or disconnect the antenna. It can damage the miner itself. It's actually in the Bobcat's manual. Just simply unplug the power when connecting or working on your antenna.

@@AceGod7 I've got a miner up and running with a 4dbi, the most I've seen in the area in London is 118 helium after the halving, it won't be 10k/month unless you have a literal radio tower, but 1k/month isn't far off if you optimise your height and antenna.

Power over Ethernet. Used commonly with security cameras. So I think you would be using an ethernet cable from your router to the miner which would then be mounted closer to the antenna. You would have the stock short cable going to the antenna from there.

PoE? Am I misunderstanding your correction. The purpose of the LMR is to carry signal to antenna without housing an exterior enclosure to protect the miner with PoE at antenna location. Its. Practical IMO to do all the other stuff when a cable run is needed either way and the cost will be similar or more with enclosures...exposing to heat when you can put the miner in a climate control house or area

That might be true about plugging it in first bc this is not the first comment about that lol. To me it doesn’t make a difference but if you are setting yours up make sure everything is connected before turning on. Luckily our miner didn’t spontaneously combust. You are very welcome

I think I fell victim to my own ignorance on that topic. Everything is running well (Synced, 1.0, Online, Diagnostics good, all green), except since I changed antennas without unplugging, not had one witness. I am invisible-went from 49 witnesses to 0, ~1HNT/day to 0.01HNT/day. Running Blind Beacon... don’t forget to unplug!

Yeah the cord is 180 degrees so no need for a drip loop but yes that hole should prolly b covered.

That would be the ghetto way of doing it and you would pretty much have similar results but make sure you consult with a professional about that.

My buddy bought the LMR400 cable from eBay but the amazon one is the same cable just different brand but same connections.

The answer is simple, if your miner is transmitting 100mw out of the box, then the goal is to get as much of the 100mw as possible to the antenna. All coax is rated in db loss per 100 foot. The better the coax, the better insulated and shielded it is. LMR 400 is exactly what I would buy if I were doing the same operation. In the video he used "N" connectors, something I would also do to ensure as much of that 100mw made it's way to the antenna. As a side note, don't believe the BS about the "Umbrella" and this dbi antenna over another dbi rated antenna, because it's BS being pushed by people who have very little experience or knowledge in electronic principals, terrain analysis, etc. Buy the highest omnidirectional dbi antenna you can afford, as good of coax as you can afford, and some type of elevated thing to put the antenna on, such as a house, balcony, pole, or tower, etc. This is the exact same principle I apply in ham radio and talk all over the world every day on a piece of house wire as an antenna.

We wanted the miner inside the house and the antenna at the hight point of the house n this was the best way we found

You gotta get an outdoor antenna as high as you can. You can’t do nothing about the reward scale but it does chance for the better occasionally.

Thanks bro. So connected it to the grounding screw next to the circuit breaker. Or you can attach it to a copper rod that’s goes into the dirt or attach it to a copper pipe that goes into the dirt. Hope this helps

Sounds like the Poe way would make less of a loss of signal but then you need to have the miner outside.

Thank you. The electrical tape is not necessary but if we had some I would of definitely thrown some on there lol. I’ve worked with 3 different arrestors n the screw was the same for all 3. I’m also not an electrician but if a lightning bolt hits the antenna a little 1 millimeter screw is that sits on the arrestor is not gonna make a difference 😎.

@@CesarCinema you should back bond the arrestor to the jmount, then ground the wire to the j mount and to the ground source. That galvanized clamp won't provide much bonding as it's barely contacting the arrestor. Also, use slick washer on the nut you lost..the wind will cause the nut to back off or use another nut to double nut them. It'll become out of level in time. Black zip ties will resist UV breakdown..which is why cable as an exterior PVC jacket that is black in outdoor applications...thanks for the proof of work videos

Also. You can use bishop tape or mocap tape to weather proof the outdoor connections

Well direct TV company in San Diego doesn’t normally ground their dishes but you should check your local regulations. But if a lightning bolt ⚡️ hits it it can start a fire because the electricity has nowhere to go.

Just buy a 4 foot piece of copper grounding rod.. and take a sledge hammer pound it in as far as it will go with a little showing, and buy a grounding rod connector and just run the wire to the new rod.. happy mining.

I tried placing mine close to where is was supposed to go next to the screw.

Yes I bought separate but it is necessary because that’s how you mount it to the antenna pole.

@@CesarCinema bro all u need to find out earnings is the name the miner gave itself on setup. Anybody can search up the earnings on Helium Explorer if they know the miner name. Its free/public info.

Change the details as soon as you turn your miner back on. Go to your helium app under setting then go to “update settings”. If you bought an antenna from Amazon go to custom antenna and energy the details.

You can have it run over but try to keep it away from the elements/sun as much as you can so the cord can last longer.

It’s not that much loss from a 600 to 400. I have both setups. Now if it was a 100ft cord than you might be on to something but not with 23ft.

The bobcat itself doesn’t need to b visible but the antenna should be.

Lower number dbi would work best in your area.

yes, that's what I was thinking. There was a lug with the bolt on the arrestor to crimp the wire on to.

I’m sure you would earn less during a storm but I have seen other ppl setup in the northeast and they still earn pretty good HNT.

The plug that has a light switch that will automatically shut off incase a surge happens.

The bobcat stock miner is 4 dbi but it’s an indoor antenna. Don’t try to put this one outside

Just purchase what you need. I do have a kit listed with an LMR400 cord but it’s only 10ft n some ppl need a longer cord.
