Finally somebody makes a video on how to put a auto darkening lens in one of these, I can’t stand the fixed lens but couldn’t figure out how I would fit an auto lens into it
I was about to file it down but wasn't sure if I was missing something... so that helped. The standard head gear was a little messed up for me. No matter what notch I used the hood flipped down way to far. Moved it to where it felt good and glued it in place. Now it won't over rotate. I like the hood I got but I did have to tweak it to be happy with it.
I was a bit taken aback at first and couldn't read about it, nor was there a video. so i just gave it a try and figured maybe it could help others. glad you are happy with it now. some problems you have to fix yourself
i got the floral hood from outlaw leather and i didn’t like that the leather on it is so soft and thin, i would have liked for it to be stiff so it wouldn’t be folding and getting misshaped so easily, as a result i gotta be real careful with it because it will get super ugly really fast if i’m not careful with it which we know that out in the field that hard to do. i feel i was let down with it. the design is cool, just expected better quality/thicker leather that would retain its shape.
These might be OK, but delivered today was a chopped top pipeliner i ordered. It isnt made from a pipeliner, the shield is flexible. No good. Its shite.
I had that lense it's trash batteries go out every other month and was welding on cast iron pipe had to pre heat to 250 before you could weld on it the lense got to hot and blacked out
I've got the same question. I tried putting mine with that adapter but the side clips over stretch and the hood doesn't like flipping that far due to the top piece of leather. I've also noticed that the spring in the back doesn't like to stretch and is rather stiff. I have the same style hood as in the video along with a fibre metal hard hat so if anyone has some advice on the matter it would be greatly appreciated.
@@checkmateChannel oooof must’ve been a pretty penny after checkout! I’m considering purchasing this thanks for your upload it’s an amazing looking hood 👌
Gotta ask,why would you buy a modified pipeliner when you can just get the Tiger Hood. You get none of the benefits of a pipe liner ,when you buy it this way. Super good looking hood though
The "outlaw" modified hoods are lighter than a sugar scoop, and the leather keeps sparks off of you when you are welding out the bottom half of the pipe. It is a pretty specialized tool When you are laying on a mud board welding under a pipe, and your pipeliner won't let you get in position for a clear line of sight, the flexibility of the leather comes into its own. The tiger hood has great coverage, but it is heavy and bulky. On the ROW I use my pancake most, followed by my outlaw, and lastly my sugar scoop. For welding off of the ROW, I use an ESAB Sentinel
@@jacktheaviator4938 I'm referring more to the added weight of putting g a flip lens on a pipeliner. It makes them front heavy and defeats the point of a light weight hood. The leather makes the hood just as heavy as the original hood. Just my opinion ,though.
@@jeffs.5882 the tiger hood is bulkier than a pipeliner. And I use a carbon fiber outlaw, they use a carbon sugar scoop to chop for the outlaw, so it is actually lighter than my old sugar scoop. And I've tried a flip up lense on a pipeliner, it isn't my cup of tea, because I forget to use it, but it honestly didn't effect the balance, but I guess that's just my opinion. You get used to a weight shift pretty fast, especially a 1.5 oz weight change
@@EdgarGonzalez-on1wj order arc one hd lens cost like $100 auto lens for TIG and stick ,,, Lincoln lens ain’t no good all hype , arc one auto lens hd clear white view , worth every penny you spend on it. Save receipt for the warranty
@@reys_live7243 I’m just debating if I should get this helmet or the yes welder helmet , the 180 view I just using for school ! And for home things . But I love the leather on these helmets I’m doing tig and stick
@@EdgarGonzalez-on1wj to be honest in welding school I used two helmets sometimes 3 all different lens I get tired of one helmet on my head all week, and a yes welder , for stick ?? No because the dam plastic lens cover only last Maybe one week get burned up fast , I would get two different style of helmets , and extra clear lens cover for each hood , I used a fiber metal pipeliner for TIG and big view auto lens drako welding hood for stick big view , I say the Lincoln 3350 auto lens with the side button is a good helmet if you can get for $100 and not pay $300 Or go to harbor freight and get there most expensive welding hood they have there for about $160 I think green and black big view welding hood , it should have a good clear. View quality view at a good price , spend good money to protect your eyes
I might not have been a welder for more than 2-3 years but I feel like that looks pretty cheap besides the leather...looks rattly and kinda low quality, and the viewing window looks super tiny
