what do you know about the LA Hooker. My favorite people in drag racing. Gene Beaver, Richard Beaver, David Condit, Steven Condit. I went to school with the Condits, even lived at their house for awhile. Went to the races with them every chance I had. Back then there were three fuel races a weekend. Lions on Friday night, Irwindale on Saturday and OCIR on Sunday.

You do realise these are cars from the 70’s and 80’s with less power and less nitro in the fuel than modern nitro funny cars ?

It changes from mph to kph it was a 6.3 at 316 basically it’s a high top speed for a 6.3

dylan winwood There are no alcohol and especially nitro funnycars driven on roads buddy. Aside from the fact nitro engines do less than 1000 rotations before a rebuild they have no cooling, 1 forward gear, can hardly steer, rear brakes only, they are towed to and from the strip. They cant do anything except idle for a burnout, idle for a bit and 6 seconds of full throttle... its just not possible. Some people unsucsessfully run modified pro mods, thats the closest thing you'd get to a funny car.

Jack Torrance I THINK you've misunderstood what i ment sport. You don't need to explain such elementary concepts to me, I've been a qualified mechanic in Australia for about 15 years. Maybe you should do a bit of research as to who Larry Larson is. My point WAS that it was impressive that Larry's S10 would run times so close to what the funny cars were running. In case you've lived under a rock for the past 10 years, there's this comp in the States called Drag Week, yeah. Larry won it 5 times in a row in his Nova. Last year he arrived to Drag Week with a wild S10 that he had hadn't run yet, but by the end of the week his street rego'd S10 had run as quick as 6.19 or something around there. The week after Drag Week had finished, Larry ran 5.9-something in Las Vagas in the same trim it competed at Drag Week in. That was what I was talking about. I was suggesting that cars like Larry's should be able to get some kind of limited rego in Aust, not that Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars should be street rego'd. Next time if you don't understand what someone is talking about and they refference something as an example- maybe do a little research into the reference before making such silly comments cause it just makes you look foolish. Nitro Funny Cars being rego'd would be pretty stupid. And the comment about people's lack of success using promods on the street isn't all that true these days. Most of the contenders from the unlimited class in Drag Week are basically Promod. Tom Bailey's 'Project Sick Seconds' won Drag Week in 2013, it's a Promod that's been street rego'd. So it seems his car works pretty well on the street it'd be fair to say. He completed almost 1600 k's during the week to get to all 5 tracks that they were competing at during the week long comp AND completed a string of high 6 second passes all week long. I think he was the first to average in the 6's, his car worked very well. This year Tom's building a rego'd Promod he's hoping will run mid 5's all week and survive the torturous drive thro dodgy back roads that they are required to take to really test the car's road going capabilities. #Larry'stheKing
