Didn't even know this came out on PC. Apparently its been discontinued though, which is a crying shame. This is one of those few instances where Sega brought back an old IP, and did an awesome job.

Since you can't buy it anymore, companies can't make money out of it so it counts as abandonware, you can get it in abandonware sites for free. It's still under copyright but the owner can't track it. It's a weird grey area.

You can still buy the CD/DVD of the pc version for a kinda high price Or just download it from websites

I'm impressed with the PS2 version. The 8 bit palettized textures or P8/4 come across impressive on the small screen. With better anti-aliasing, reflections, and filtering the PC version comes out on top. With that said I really don't think you could go wrong with either version. I had it on Xbox back in the day.

But there's no Sun or rays of the Sun on the PC, at least not at the start of the track. No Sun, no win.

Actually you’re both wrong, the bloom effect (rays) were in the pc version, but on installation were put in the wrong location, mr thunderwing has a detailed explanation

The gameplay recorded is top notch. For the most part player replicstes his own moves perfectly. Keep in mind that the traffic is random 👍

Los efectos de luz del sol también están en la versión de PC, solo tienes que ir a la carpeta del juego, entrar en la carpeta "Media", copiar el archivo "lens_flare_offset.bin", pegarlo en la carpeta "Common" y listo

On PC it's need to copy lens_flare_offset.bin from Media folder to Common folder, to fix sun and lens flare. PS2 version has too much bloom and surexposed, but it's nice sometimes. The best is Outrun 2 SP SDX :)

The first exclusive Xbox version is the very best. But its an impressive Ps2 port,I was playing it through component cables on hdtv,really shines through that at 480p.

The bloom effect on the pc version can be fixed with a tweak to the configuration file, it was never turned on which I believe was a mistake in the port. The shadows under the cars can also be patched to be more pronounced, a couple of tweaks which can make a bit of a difference.

Gotta go with PC, I had it on it and the replayability is amazing. All the unlockables, music, cars, the stages. I hope they bring it back or just release on Android like everyone else for great games, like Kotor.

Sega lost the rights. This game is the only reason why I won't ever part with my Xbox 360, because I have Outrun Online and it's awesome. No way to ever get it again, didn't have a physical release.

La versión de pc tiene mejor reflejo en el auto y por ahí un poco más de detalle que la de ps2, pero me gusta mas la versión de ps2 por lo más colorido que se ve todo el juego.

The PC version has more dense shadows. Also at 5:33 you can see the clouds are much more pronounced than on PS2. The reflections on the car are also more intense and they update much more quickly. Beyond that they seem to be on the same level, the lighting seems to be a bit too intense in a few places on the PS2 like at 6:25 where you can barely see the lines on the road anymore.

The version with best graphics is Online Arcade on PS3/360. It's a bliss on RPCS3 at 4K/60 fps. Too bad they only released a small part of the game due to licensing issue and Xbox Live Arcade size limitation.

Wow you do a good job of keeping it all in sync! PC is shinier but it's a console game at heart to me, I wonder how the spec on the PC weighed in at the time.

The PC lighting looks really plasticine and inconsistent. It also removes the bloom and specular highlights on the road in the console versions. The distortion effect on the car's windshield (Also used in the transmission select background in Coast 2 Coast mode) is only there on the Chihiro and Xbox versions

The PC version has sharper textures, and what appears to be higher resolution. The PS2 has darker shading. And the ultra-reflective lighting on the car in the PC version just looks awful, so much so that I think I'd rather play the PS2 version. I can't stand when fake lighting is so overdone in racing games.

Obviously, any decent PC nowadays can do a much better job than the PS2. Any game like Star Wars Battlefront 2 or Need For Speed Underground 2 would look better on PC. But back then, you needed quite a powerful computer and the PS2 (or any other console that had the game you wanted) was the way to go and those were pretty good versions with mostly solid framerates and good-looking graphics.

Nope. Bought this game at launch, and it ran perfectly on a cheap laptop. Keep in mind that Outrun C2C was released in 2006, the x360 was out by then.

Noo you didn't need powerfull PCs to outshine cheap looking Playstation games of any era. Medicore PCs can do the job. So stop reaching!

@@anss321 I've got a midrange laptop from 2009 that doesn't run it anywhere near 60fps at a res higher than the ps2 when you enable bloom etc. That's the difference back in the day, you knew your ps2 would run it as the programmer intended out of the box.

Esse game é lindo até no PSP. Além de ser muito divertido. No comparativo, a versão do PC ganha. Melhor efeito de specular highlingting e um AA melhor tb. Ps2 com serrilhados.

Pc sutilmente leva a melhor... Mas gosto do contraste maior no PS2 onde a Ferrari perece ter um vermelho mais escuro... Mas realmente não dá para ver diferenças muito significativas

@vcdecide por favor, faça uma nova versão do vídeo usando uma versão para PC que esteja correta. A versão demonstrada no vídeo infelizmente não corresponde a versão real do PC, vários efeitos estão desativados, como o SOL e certos shaders, fazendo está comparação completamente errada e injusta.

Eu nem acho tão ruim, tá certo que é um ps2, mas tipo, na sega model 2 até era uma marca registrada da época. A M2 tinha serrilhado, mas não tinha gráficos tremidos como no ps1 e saturn, por ter subpixel precision e ainda tinha texture filtering.
