Anxiety isn't just about feeling, nervous, anxious, or panicky. It can make it hard to get out of bed, do work or even face the day. As past-anxiety sufferers, we all know how hard it is to deal with sadness alone, but luckily there are people out there who have had similar experiences and want to help others get through their struggles too. In this video, Kaylee and Shaan discuss the Let-down effect experienced by those going through their recovery journey.

I feel like we have had anxiety for so long that once it starts to dissipate (and we hopefully start recovering), a sadness or emptiness appears naturally because we are letting go of a chronic habit and lifestyle which was keeping us occupied 24/7 ..all of us, let's just say to ourselves that a life without chronic anxiety is possible and this sadness will naturally fade away as we settle to a new way of life ! Its life changing so being sad only appears natural to let go of a whole lifestyle and get a new one :) good luck to all of us in this difficult journey 💝

Today i spoke to 2 of my clients who are going through this phase ...First thing i made them realise that how lucky they are as they are now in the stage where they dont have intrusive thoughts and weird emotions...just the sadness and fatigue due to let down....i would like to add one thing here ..Dont let this let down effect let you down..wakeup .. move hit the ground and do it anyhow ..consider it just a emotion like any other emotion.. remember it's a emotion not a state

When the nervous system is dysregulated it can stay stuck in fight or flight response as well in freeze or it can switch between the states. Fight or flight response causes all of the anxious feelings and symptoms and when we're in freeze it can cause depression. That's why anxiety and depression very often go hand by hand, because they are the two sides of a dysregulated system. Irene Lyon has a bunch of good information on the topic.

It’s so funny that u have a video for everything. I’m nearly fully recovered. But since like 3 days ago I feel really sad all of a sudden even though I’m doing things which actually should bring me a lot of joy. I do things with friends like I would normally do before anxiety which brought me a lot of laugh and fun and even without experiencing anxiety. However, yesterday was such a beautiful day without any anxiety at all, sun shining, but I still felt very sad during the day, which led me being really confused and scared. I was thinking to myself, what if I’ve developed a depression now, which then gave me some anxiety haha. So stoked to stumbled a cross this video. Thanks a lot Shaan

Ok, I only heard about the "let down effect" very recently, but this seems to exactly describe my pattern of crashing and burning on the weekend. Over the years it seems like it has gotten worse because at various times I had studying or homework on the weekend I could use to at least partially keep myself busy. Now after putting in my time at work for the week... It at least feels like there is nothing. I can only suspect this is made worse by being ADHD. My brain constantly needs stimulation, but getting this stimulation can be impaired by inadequate executive functioning. And of course we are still dealing with COVID... Outside of work I don't have a lot of outlets for stimulation. And my brain can be very particular about what it likes and the longevity of an interest can be very long or very fleeting.

Hey, am looking for a long term recovery from anxiety but this recovery journey is so confusing. For me, the major problem is the intrusive thoughts. Ik I have to accept but when I do, I don't want to sometimes fully because ik am afraid of uncertainty. I don't wanna live in the unknown but I am learning to let go of control as I can't control everything. Whenever I see light, my mind reminds me of my anxiety and there is like a mental block which I can't exactly pin point but it doesn't let me because my mind tells me no matter what, I won't recover it is like I move but then I willingly step back as I remind myself. I accepted my thoughts and I don't engage in it but idk how to not focus on the thought. No one quite explains this to me like how do I not feed it? Isn't it like resisting? Should I distract myself by watching something while still focusing a little on the thought, like again and again until it burns off. Is it okay to think, I will let the thought be there and will think about it tommorow and figure it as I can't figure all it once? Is it right to do so? I wanna take right steps for full recovery

Intrusive thoughts are really anything that comes to mind that does not have your best interests in mind or conflicts with your physical and mental wellbeing. The key is to not give them power, you must recognize that they are fuelled by pain, fear, anger, doubt and hopelessness. The way to see passed them is by challenging them with trust, unconditional love for yourself, faith, and hope you need to refuse to believe the thoughts ignore them and intentionally focus on things that bring you joy, family, hobbies, ect also I reccomend you take cold showers everyday and do wim Hoff breathing exercises you can find them on RU-vid for free. @@melissaquintero7201 it was not so much that you recover from the letdown effect. This happens naturally during recovery. The key take away is to realize that it will be part of the recovery journey. It is an up and down path or journey. You really have to embrace the suck, and know that it is just another obstacle that you need to get past. There is no switch or magic pill to fully recover. Once you start living your life alongside anxiety, regardless of how you feel. Incrementally, you will get better and better, until you realize that you have fully recovered, and anxiety is no longer something that limits your life.

@@melissaquintero7201 Yes, you live alongside, now that you know it wont hurt your or isn't very serious. Once the fear starts to go away, and you don't care, that is when the symptoms start to fade away, little by little. The same holds true for intrusive thoughts. Notice them, acknowledge them as an intrusive thought, and move on with your day. Handle it the same way you would if you stubbed your toe. Acknowledge that it hurts, but keep walking. Over time, the pain goes away. Anxiety just takes a bit longer. LOL

Hey guys, has anyone of you suffred from those health worries about developing a much more serious conditions like bipolar, major or boderline like because of some unusual mood swings which ain't severe enough, u know. I've been already told that it's just anxiety but I can't get those intrusive what if thoughts under control. Freaking scared right now.

Any tips on how you got over this yet? I’m feeling the let down effect and I’m scared that this is what bipolar is ?

@@juniorlozano8415 It's simple: if you should really be suffering from a MOOD disorder (be It major depression or bipolar) than the first who is going to take notice of it will be your environment as you are mostly not aware of your super mania state and regarding depression you would not be able to get out of the hole on your own [if you can It's not what you suspect].
