OVERLORD 2 (Zero Punctuation) 

While I respect Yahtzee's opinion, I have to say that I actually liked Overlord. He says that he can't get attached to certain minions, I've repeatedly found myself trying to keep the most well equipped minions alive since I have spent a lot of time gearing them up. And on the subject on the mistresses, however, I completely agree. ( Even so, my favorite is Dark Fay.)

I literally cried I was laughing so hard at how casually he said "and the invisible ones are probably some sort of delusion on your part."

The "going back to business school" remark made me picture a big company like Amazon using little imps like delivery drones and the big Sauron guy in a business suit and tie trying to have a meeting with a bunch of unruly imps. Made me chuckle.

Most people don't really care about their Minions. And to be honest why would you? But me, for whatever reason, actively go out of my way to make sure they don't die like scouting alone for anything dangerous or killing enemies alone because i value their lives more than my own! I even mourned for the death of a Brown Minion (His name was Frack) just because it had a funny hat (Gnome Champion) i really liked! XD

I actually liked this game, granted quite frustrating controls,but i still liked it. Anyone else like it? just me? Go sit in the corner? Ok.

While I liked Overlord 2, I feel the game's plot would have benefited from having genuinely good 'antagonists' rather than the evil roman guys we got. I mean, when you are conquering the empire, everyone is cheering you on. WTF!? If and when they make an overlord 3, I want to be the evil underdog conquering the perfect good guys. I want it to be abundantly clear that what I am doing is wrong. None of this 'lesser evil' bullshit. When I am invading a town to enslave a population I want them to fucking hate me for it, not love me for some reason. I am playing as the bad guy, let me feel evil.

Best way to think about it is a game about the Discworld (The story was written by Terry Pratchett's daughter) with some wall paper on it. The ressurect system was something put in after the last game where you would kit out a minion with some unique weapons and armour and have a drunk dwarf kill him.

Gonna throw it out there: FUCKING LOVE OVERLORD AND OVERLORD II.

i think this is the first zero punctuation review I've disagreed with thoroughly.

I don't understand why all of his reviews get so much hate. This is a review constructed by the personal opinion of one man. This one man is PAID to review MULTITUDES of games to post these videos on a regular basis. When you review games that often for a specific reason you really have no other choice but to look at what the game IS, not what you want it to be. Personally I have enjoyed multiple games that Yahtzee has reviewed (and essentially shit upon), Overlord 2 among them, yet I agree wholeheartedly with everything he has to say about it. But just because he has broken a game down so much that it's no more than a sobbing, beaten down wretch in the corner, afraid of human interaction, doesn't mean I'm never going to pick it up, brush it off and tell it that I still love it.

Oh, our dearest Yahtzee...of course you could have phrased that in a more nerdy way; such as discussing the comparative philosophical, nigh theoretical, differences between *Neutral* Evil and Chaotic Evil instead....

I found controlling the minions is easier with a controller, makes it relatively simple to walk control them and even cast spells all at the same time. Seems to me like a fair number of his dislikes can be chalked up to "picked wrong device to play on"

You don't have to be evil in this game, you can also be a good guy.

This is a great game, I understand the controls are weird on the pc, but I was looking for a game that I could become this leader of evil and rule over an empire, when I found this game, I instantly loved it. There are some weird parts of it, so thats why I went back to the first one. Still think the Overlord 2 game is awesome and deserves some praise.

I preferred the original Overlord and it's expansion. Is it corny? Yes! Is it stupid? Yes! Is it fun? In my opinion yes! The sequel was also fun but suffered greatly due to poor controls.

If you think the hold LMB+RMB to control the hoard is bad try it when your RMB is starting to die and considers holding as a suggestion. The mouse I had at the time liked to doubleclick randomly instead of holding taking this mechanic to a whole new level of frustrating. As to reviveing minions, they did level up a bit if you kept them alive and they'd managed to pick up decent equipment. Made them a bit tougher and able to swarm down larger baddies without losses while you'd need several waves of freshly summoned ones to do the same. That was the only good reason to pay to revive them. Pretty much agree with the overall review though. Was amusing at first to direct the little psychotic minions to wreck everything but as soon as the novelty ran out it all degenerated into MEH. Story was ok if you could stand the gameplay but nothing that would warent a second playthrough.

Peter Molyneux is the exception to "Power Corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" He got popular, and then went completely batshit insane. (still a genius though)

I haven't played Overlord 2 but at least in Overlord 1 the whole "play as the villain" thing felt like a facade. In reality it seemed the game wanted you to play as the good guy, rescuing all the peasants and defeating the genuinely evil characters to save the day.. and they called this being evil.. somehow. You could just kill everything in sight and go for the corruption route, but it felt like the game was trying to steer you towards being a fairly benevolent "evil" overlord. Also if you kill everything in sight there's not really much left to be an "overlord" of other than the minions that already obeyed you. Also where the hell was the sprint button?!

0:36 Okay, let's get something straight here: cannibalism is not evil. No, I'm not saying that because I do it, I'm saying that because cannibalism being bad is a purely cultural thing. There are cultures in which burying a dead person would be a horrific insult and eating them is a sign of respect or something - I don't know, I'm not part of one of those cultures, but I know they exist. To them, burying dead people is seen the same way we see eating people, which is to say, horrific and wrong. One of us is not more right than the other, cultures rarely are. Furthermore, from an objective logical standpoint, it's not a bad thing at all. Killing people to eat them is bad, certainly, but if someone is already dead for completely unrelated reasons, you might as well eat the dead husk they left behind - it's not like you're eating a person at that point, it's just meat, the same stuff that makes up the various other animals we eat on a daily basis. Sticking it in a box means no other organic lifeform will be able to use the various nutrients that any animal needs to survive that any vessel of mortal flesh is made up of, and that's just wasteful. Evil is hurting other people in some way, shape, or form, for no other reason than because you find it amusing. Again, killing people in order to eat them is wrong - if not too much more wrong than the fact that we do that to various other animals that are just as alive as we are - and eating pieces of them while they're alive is definitely evil, but the meat itself is not a horrible thing to eat just because it was once used by a sapient being. It's only meat, like the flesh of any other mammal. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. >.>

I respect your opinion yatzee, but I do not share it, except for that one puzzle, anyone that enjoyed that was a sadist. I didn't have the issues with controlling the minions you mention, perhaps its because I played overlord 1 and have gotten used to them. For me though the joy of commanding my own little army and the humor, charm and style of the settings and writings made it enjoyable for me, perhaps its just the style of writing, rihana pratchett did a lot of work on it and it deffinently reminds me of some of her father's humor, well done, and often parodying or satyrical. Also I loved how everything looked. I do agree that I wished the mistresses could do or contribute more, even in the first game they did someing in a cut scene, here there Is ONE thing they do near the final battle and that's just giving you access to a type of mount via a gate like your minions, instead of having the appropriate monster just wondering around, but it feels more like a limitation because it only lets you take one type and normally you can just use any of the animals you run accross. And again it's mostly pointless because only one type is useful- the wolves, that add a charge attack, add a movement option, don't nullify the stealth advantage of one type of minions, and DON'T EXPLODE WHEN THEY INEVITABLY DIE. The red mounts were salamanders that roll for some reason and all they add is innifficient strafing mechanics to the reds and the addition of several bombs in teh middle of youf vulnerable army when they die, which they do easily. In short sorry you didn't like it, maybe try the others, but deffinitely not fellowship of evil

it's almost like I passed out in my energy drink riddled near comatose/excited puppy state, logged on to another account and posted exactly what just happened then promptly regained consciousness and forgot that had ever happened.

i'd like a non linear Overlord with lots and lots of customization, castle sieges, recruiting a dark army of not only the minions, but generals who can lead a number of minions (how much is up to you) to take over provinces and such.

I think the biggest let-down as far as Fable II's attempts to make you feel attached to it's dog companion enough so that it's death will bring you unease is the fact that they basically told everyone your dog is going to die before the game was released.

My friend actually reccomended this game to me once based soley on the fact it remeinded him of Pikmin, which I am a fan of. So when Yahtzee brought this up I had trouble breathing from laughing so hard.

I know a game that has a good moral choice system, one that doesn't affect the story, just the gameplay: Red Dead Redemption. Although, in my case, I've found that Red Dead Redemption makes it really hard to be a bad person; John Marston is a good man, not a jerk, so I find it hard to do bad things as him. Sure, I'll gladly kill innocent people in GTA IV, but Niko Bellic is different than John.

That last statement is 110% fuckin true yahtzee! In fps games us players like to break the rules in any acceptable form (not getting banned) that we can. Say on a game like mw2 we try to get outside the map because the game forces you to stay in the map but in games that have no boundaries, getting outside the map is the same as walking to the other side of the street on an existing map in mw2 there's no reward. I loved how you phrased it

It really is what moral choice games need, a well done "Good/Evil-Lawful/Chaotic" system.

I loved overlord 2 but that may be because I didn't play the pc version

I'd love a game that constantly tries to frame you as the villian in the game's narrative, but gives you the freedom to be the world's most upstanding gentleman. Like a game where you're suppose to murder the population of an entire city, but gives you the opportunity to help grannies cross the street or help small children find a lost dog.

I almost had a stroke laughing, because I eat candy while watching these.

Fable 1 and 2 are guilty pleasures of mine. I enjoy playing games with noticeably unfulfilled potential and pause the game for a couple hours just to ponder what might have been.

Where you bought them shouldn't really make a difference, as they are all made in the same place to tolerate the same temperatures. Did the problems arise during summer? (I'm assuming that it reaches over 95 degrees quite often where you live) Also, how did you store them? In your car, in a bag, etc. It seems to me like they were just overheating. Apple's website does say that it is really only designed to operate up to 95 degrees, and is lists the nonoperating temperature to be 113 degrees.

Keep in mind, Overlod 2 lets you *revive* your imps down in the basement--for a cost.

The other fellow is wrong, Thomas Ruff is the photographer, that guy is some random bloke that Ruff photographed for some project where he didn't want people to show emotion.

I quite enjoyed the game, I was even disappointed it was so short with nonexistent post-game content. That being said, I did jump to it straight after the first game which had way worse problems. And I really did enjoy being evil when that was the objective since I usually play the good hero in "hero simulators". I also played with a gamepad so the controls were better. And finally something that portrays Elves correctly. The game had issues but I had a lot of fun with it.

Is it weird that this review made me really want the game?

Played it on pc and loved it. For me it wasn't anything near as boring to what Yahtzee described. Quite fun actually and i didn't find the 2 mouse button direct control hard at all. Only yes the part where you have to do work and spend money in order to make your mistress happy is a bit dull.

@Ackalan i was thinking more in lines of a action game with army commanding, but that would be pretty awesome to see actually. I'd play it. and we got the factions already. Empire, Overlord, Halflings, Dwarves, Elves, and others.

I wanted to hold down both mouse buttons but I was at work

I had a lot of Apple products when I was younger, the first IMac (the big box-ish one), the first dual-core macbook (2nd gen) iPod nano, eMac, and I've gone through 3 iPod touches because the iPods kept malfunctioning. Most of these have unfortunately regular problems, the iPods keep freezing and there's nothing I can do about the problem, and the computers were just kind of slow and unhelpful (even for their time).

what about the rainbow wheel? and how it freezes up CONSTANTLY. i had a LOT of problems with mac, not as much as PC as far as Crashing is concerned

I'd actually like to see what Yahtzee would say about the Pikmin series. Probably he'd point out it's essentially an awkward RTS in which you control an army of flowers to collect pieces of junk from giant insects.

I played it on the Xbox 360 and the controls were actually pretty nice.

They are warm to the touch a lot, but I use them in the same climates they are bought in, which would be Arizona in my case. If I bought one in, say, Seattle and then brought it here, I can see some issues arising, but I would think it would be fine. My very first one I dropped, eventually it stopped working altogether, I had to get a nw one.

I've completed Overlord 2 with 100% of the collectables and I can honestly say...it was easier than Overlord: Raising Hell.
