This spell is useless against anyone above lvl 60. It kills everything below lvl 60 in an area of attack and uses the life essence of the targets to summon at least one "baby goat". The reason why it was rare to summon 2 or more is cause in the game it was rare to find a large group of monsters/players below lvl 60.
probably no use, since u can just buff cry of the banshee with the goal of all life is death and get better results, cuz its not a super tier spell and doesnt consume exp
That’s why he considered it not only a powerful spell but also the best one for that situation, many souls to sacrifice in a spot... ;) all hail Ainz Ooal Gown!
not just cry of the banshee it can boost more spell but because it's a aoe attack it's more useful using cry of the banshee and 12 sec cast is better than a super tier skill that take far more time to cast (except paid item) and made you a living target so...
Which is why ainz say he was not a meta player striving for a min max/best pvp build, but had more of a RP build. Just that his actually actual gamer skills made him a high tier pvp player.
Two quick things and a piece of lore. In lieu of having abilities, spells, MP and magic attack the dark young have all their points go towards other stats. In particular their HP and defensive stats are significantly higher than most players as even tank players will invest quite a bit in skills. As a spell it’s strength, if it goes off, is that the caster will gain an amazing tank or two. Their size and speed make it difficult to ignore them and their defense and health pool makes them difficult to go through. The second thing is they are much faster than depicted in the anime. Due to CGI they are depicted as essentially plodding along. In the novels they are actually described as frolicking like baby goats with an awkward, adorable gait due to their fifth leg. They are running and leaping around, much faster than depicted. Finally as lore. Shub-Niggurath has the dark young who are relatively weak but she also had twins who were among the greater ones. One of them, in turn, had a rather famous child named Cthulhu. That’s right, the grandma of the most famous Lovecraftian horror is on Ainz’s Rolodex. Of note she is also more powerful than Cthulhu, sometimes being listed among the unreachable Outer Gods in that lore.
So Dark Youngs are basically mindless giant eldrich beings that have crazy strength, endurance, and speed that will follow the commands of the summoner. Cool.
Oh on the contrary, each one of them has a human level of intelligence. They know exactly what they are doing and their main goal was to kill the army leaders and commanders.
since hes undead hes inmune to puking on the gore and blood of his actions, he is also inmune to pitty, most of his emotions are locked away, so its up to the reader to see if ainz is still human or just an undead
Ainz after killing a soldier while saving Enri with Grasp Heart in season 1: "I see. I feel nothing even after killing someone. I have both physically and mentally stopped being human." There is nothing about his humanity drifting away and such. He is still himself, even when describing how he feels he says literally the same thing he said back then. The only difference now is Demiurge's plan is flashy and grandiose while Ainz would lay low and gather information first, then act either sneakily or with really controlling how much can others see from the whole thing.
One cannot make an analysis of his own mind, it's more precise to actually make an analysis from observations. And from the episodes we can easily say that he has emotions, just look at how he reacts with Tuare or towards Clementine. The respect that he has for Stronoff and so on are proof that he feels empathy and also other emotions. Even if you argue that these emotions are due to a leak effect from his memory if you know the lore about the IRL world in Overlod you would know that we cannot judge his real personality by our own standards.
That line made me think that Ainz thought that morality was some kind of neurotoxin that would punish him for doing that action, though in later episodes he would be ashamed of riding hamuseke for the first time or hearing pandoras actor's monologues and somehow he felt disgust for shalltear pervert side when acting as his chair
Mistake number 2, a guarfian would have some trouble taking on 2 or more "baby goats", not cause the goats are strong, but cause they are durable. They were used as tanks/meatshilds by the players if they disnt have one in their party, or needed to distract their opponents to escape. Just one lvl 90 fire elemental took a lot of time for Aura to deal with in episode 1, and it was a damage dealer summon, now you can imagine how long it would take to kill 2 lvl 90 summons that specialise in deffence.. They are very hard to kill if you dont specialise in dealing damage, or using gimmick skills to instakill them.
right and wrong are a subjective thing based on the morals of your culture. Ainz is Undead he used to be human. it is not evil for a vampire to drink blood that is their natural food source. As an undead lord the propagation of his race and the tombs Inhabitants is by his cultural standards good and the short lived mortals are food or pets at best. they would view Leaders that sacrifice their populations for greed or political gain as evil. Humans do this all the time and call it good for the culture as a whole and have done so throughout our history.
i think episode 1-2 he was thinking about staying because he had no family or friends anyway. either way he had to survive and he knew not learning about that world was a bad idea. he started everything for taking over the world with the comment of it being a nice idea to obtain this treasure box to demi
To the Inhabitants of the of Nazeric a Quick death is the greatest mercy they can give their opponent. the first 70k probably felt no pain. making it a benevolent action in war versus a weaker opponent. the rest of it is shock and awe.
Einz isn't evil as far as the morals of the world in which he lives is concerned. Evil can only exist if there is an absolute authority that passes down a law. In this case Einz is that absolute authority and as far as we know there isn't one above him who really cares to pass down a law thus judging him as good or evil. Humans from their perspective would view him as evil because they view themselves as valuable, that isn't necessarily so though.
I watched only up to 1:21 of your video yet I already have to correct you on something. Ainz doesnt view the few ppl he values in the new world as pets, he view them as ether actual ppl who erned his trust (Enris younger sister, mostly, cause she is pure), or as useful tools, "company" workers (he was an office worker before new world). The ppl he doesnt care about he views as ether nothing (if he cant gain anything from them), or as a stepping stone (if he can use them for something), or ememies (we all know their fate). Anyway, Ainz is cruel and ruthleas cause he cant feel the same empathy we feel for each other, not cause he just isnt human, but cause his non-human/undead "status" (as a status in the game/gaming terms) doesnt let him feel that enpathy by default. The only reason why he can view someone as a friend is the human memories he has, any other undead would just kill anything living aa fast as it can 95% of the tume, not even gonna talk with you about "why".
Aniz decided to put Enri little sister on his protection list only after she complicated the great Tomb but, what type of "Human" decides to protect a child who has done no harm because they flatter you? Tell me which humans in the new world does Aniz view as his friends? His Race is undead and the undead have no empathy so that means he is no longer human right? His memories allow him to cling onto the ideals he had when he was a human but, that is all. Their has been another undead who has no connection to Aniz who knew how to live with humans without mindlessly killing but, Sebas blew his fooken head off with a punch though.
He does have empathy however it is heavily suppressed he can come to care about people but only ones who are loyal to him or have earned his respect if you aren’t willing to work for nazarick or if you don’t impress him he isn’t going to develop any sense of moral obligation towards you
@@WulfLotus 1 he has feelings, but they are suppresed by his undead overlord character body. 2 remember the party that he was going on the first quest in the new world with? He liked them, and almost considered them as friends (in the novel), that is one of the reasons why he killed Clemantine in such a cruel way. That girl/maid that Sebas took under his wing? He took her cause she is the sister of the magician girl from that party. Do you think he would let any other human be in his tomb? 3 the undead that you mentioned was cooperating with the humans, sure, but it cooperated with a criminal organisation that kills other humans on a daily basis, and full of capable fighters. Do you think that a "No-Life King" would work with meatbags completely willingly? Also, most things in YGGDRASIL are based on D&D, and a D&D Lich is usually hostile to everything alive and has some grand plan that can take ages to complete. Also also, it was the only example of a new world undead working with any human organisation in Momongas time period in the novel. 4 as an undead Momonga no longer has that human to human empathy that we all have, but if you do something he likes he will like you in return.
One theme Overlord keeps hitting frequently is that Ainz treats everyone around him as if the Game were still going on. The NPC's remind him of his guildmates and his casual indifference to the terrible consequences of his actions stems from the fact that everything is still kind of a game. Listen to how he talks about his duel with Gazaf. To him it's a PvP match in which Gazaf, or more accurately his teammates, gets to keep their loot. HOW NOT TO SUMMON A DEMON LORD has touched on similar themes elevating it beyond being a bythenumbers ecchi comedy with ridiculous amounts of fan service. Ainz isn't evil because he's cruel or selfish exactly, Ainz is ultimately evil because he "plays" the NewWorld like he played YGGDRASIL
i could see this more as a spell you cast to clear out trash mobs and then sick it on something stronger to wear it down, if you can turn a mob of garbage enemies that are just going to waste you time and resources to fight, into a limited time monster you can then throw at something stronger and weaken it and do damage, then this seems like a useful spell to use against mobs, which it probably its intended use.
Looking at stills of the show it appears that the dark young are actually close to that 10m height if you don't count the tentacle-like protrusions (which are also around 10m in length). This (combined with several low angle shots) make them appear massive, which to be fair they are as their bodies are as big as three story buildings.
Any summoned creature from corpses tend to stay after summoning and the fate of the dark young wasn’t stated in the light novel, but Ains thought that they will expire and decided to use them to further show his power and not to waste them regretting it instantly, but going through it because he thought that they are soldiers in war and would have died either way.
Actually the dark young are level 90+ so its more like their 93 or 95 however that does not mean that they are eqwall to a level 90 player or N.P.C as a player of that level would have various items and abilities as well as skills and spells that the dark young simply lack however the dark youngs raw sats are qwall to a level 90+ players and N.P.C not their abilities, skills e.t.c also the dark young cant summon other monsters unlike a level 90 player would and neither do they have the nessasary intelligence to be as big of a threat.
70k in an instant but about 240k in total. Right and wrong is irrelevant for Ainz. What is right for him matters hence why he is neutral. Not good, not evil but neutral. He is more that capable of doing good things and evil things like every human. What you and many other people refer to as "humanity" is just part of the human nature.. It is simply referring to the good nature of humans while completely ignoring the evil side and this is without mentioning that people are often more complicated than simple good or evil. This spell is nothing special even normal for D&D standards. The fact is if AINZ was evil you woudl see carnage and genocide like nothing that had even happened in our world. As a rule the undead hate the living and want to destroy it. It is a core part of their nature regardless of how good you used to be when you were alive. This is why people in the new world respect Ainz to do the absolute worst and kill everyone that is alive. However Ainz keeps showing that he is not like that. People that interact with him on a personal level and see the true him start feeling admiration for him, because in the end he is not worse that any other ruler or king even from our own history. He protects those that are under him and he does not care who you are and what is your social status. Show him kindness he will treat you with kindness. Sure his motives are not altruistic but he is far from being evil or in human. In fact all this makes him so human that it is fascinating to observe and hilarious at times. Overall for an undead Ainz is a bloody saint.
The instant death effect was 70K while the total casualties on the kingdoms side were 180K. The total amount of soldiers on the kingdoms side were 260K. _“Of the 260,000 people who took part in that war, 180,000 of them lost their lives. I’ve also heard that there are survivors who were mentally scarred and can’t live a normal life any more. Some of the orphans had fathers who ended up like that.”_ -Volume 10, Chapter 2.
Yaa your right, I find it fascinating in many aspects because 1 he was a simple office worker. 2 he does retain his human memories which keep him acquired to his ideals even if he feels no real emotional obligation to follow them. When he did cast that spell I believe in the novel he did say he was looking forward to the outcome of the spell. I do believe war itself is a evil and good thing depending on what side you are on but, did Ainz know many of the solders he killed where simple farmers or villagers drafted to fight? He showed no emotion when killing them. He seemed like a game to him which isn’t something that I’m complaining about. Just the fact that they dared challenge him would in fact entice action being required but, is he slowly losing more of his ties to humanity?
@@WulfLotusHard to say if he is really losing it because he shows it still by the end of volume 13. If it was me I would spare the soldiers and hire the workers that raided the tomb or at least Archie and her group. I agree war is a messy thing depending on ones reasons for fighting. Have you noticed that thanis to him the vast majority of the Imperial Knights survived? Yet instead of being called a hero by them they fear him. Truth to be told Ainz cares only for his subjects and he does not view life as equal. Also which is sad he goes along with the ideas of Demiurge and Albedo and both of them are evil and do not see any worth in human life besides being catle. Personally I would love characters like Evil eye actually joining him for the sole reason of being a moral compas and an oposition to Demiurge.
If spell based on H.P. Lovecraft exist then surely there will be a spell like "Tribute to the blind idiot, AZATHOTH" which will bring forth cataclysm like how the world end/judgement day.
So my assumption; basing it upon the sheer amount of D&D is implemented mechanically in the game and the effect is this: >The spell is the equivalent of a Epic Level spell: Something from the 2-4th edition eras of D&D that could only be acquired by LV 21+ casters (Lv cap 30) by meeting certain requirements. They didn't use Spellslot or MP but could only be cast once per day; sometimes with other restrictions. >The first effect is a much wider but much weaker Version of Wail of the Banshee which kills a number of Creatures in the Area of effect bellow a certain number of hit dice (HP) or serverly damages them. The second effect summons a number of lv90 "Baby Goats/Dark young" equal to the total hit dice reduced to zero by the effect. > But just like with Wail of the Banshee the effect of the spell is only good versus mobs of lower level then the caster meaning that versus target of equal or near equal level its a massive waste of time and effort because the total dice would remain near zero. > Most of the army however are likely in the 1-5 range tops; which means they made the perfect target for the Spell summoning collecting a massive number of hit dice in the process.
Still waiting for Ainz to have children... I still think he have a bit of human in him when he’s stress and need to make his point but that flow thing whenever he gets. I think it’s to bring him back to reality keep his human mind at bay and not overtake him
Now they probably didn't make them exactly like they are in the lovecraft stories, but normally the outer gods and the subordinates like the dark young are all way beyond the comprehension of anyone on earth, and only very few extremely strong minded people would not just become immediately insane after simply laying eyes on them. So if they were to be accurate neither the guardians nor ains should be able to best an army of Dark young
If I am remember it correctly, they actually lowered the number he killed with the spell. The anime says 70k. But if I'm remembering the LN it was 180k.
I wonder where you got that idea as I can't remember it being mentioned anywhere in the Light Novels. Being a dedicated tank has nothing to do with resistances and weaknesses. In YGGDRASIL, every weakness was also an advantage (i.e. having a certain job class which would lower the attacks of monsters in evil alignments while boosting those of good alignments, or having racial resistance to ice but weakness to fire). If a dedicated tank didn't favor any resistance over any other, they would come up as having no weaknesses. If a warrior who didn't favor any resistance over any other, they would also come up as having no weaknesses. You can be anything, but as long as you don't favor any resistance over others, you will come up as not having a weakness.
Most player where already LVL 100 by the time you could cast this spell. I mean, it is an overtier magic spell, or at least a tier 10 spell. Which means you can only cast it at around LVL 100. Most player would be at least LVL 70. So this thing is rarely used as an offensive spell. Mainly to summon one or two meat shields. As the dark young are tanky as they get. All the matk, ability and mana stats are redistributed to other stats. Specially defense, resistance and health. So a LVL 90 dark young surpasses the health, defense and resistance of most LVL 90 characters.
You know, this spell got me wondering. Ainz used this spell in a world of real magic. Now its a powerful spell and all but in Ainz case I would be very careful about using it. As said is calls upon Shub-Niggurath. An Outer God. For you not to familiar with the mythos, Cthulhu is a Great Old One, mostly confined to earth. The Outer Gods play in a different ballpark altogether. They are not just dangerous, they are "Everyone out of the Universe" Dangerous. Beings like Azeroth are known to devastate whole star systems. Thats the kind of power this spell plays with. And in a world like that you cannot be sure that they do not exist.
no... it was all according to ainz plan... he said it... demiurge said it... guardians said it... ainz can see everything and can plan 10,000 years ahead... that's how amazing he is... sasuga aiiiiiiiiinzzzzzzzzzzzz-sama...
Only about 110 000(+/-5 000) corpses could be used for making undead as Iä Shub-Niggurath absorbed the corpses which the first phase of the spell killed in order to summon the Dark Young. _It was full of something that spread out from the point of impact. It was something like asphalt. It absorbed the light, like a wave of hungry darkness, and it was sticky and fluid and it swallowed the corpses of the dead Kingdom soldiers._ -The Magic Caster of Destroy, Chapter 4: Massacre _“Of the 260,000 people who took part in that war, 180,000 of them lost their lives. I’ve also heard that there are survivors who were mentally scarred and can’t live a normal life anymore. Some of the orphans had fathers who ended up like that.”_ -The Ruler of Conspiracy, Chapter 2: The Re-Estize Kingdom
He doesn't really act like a villain though he acts more like a player who just doesn't care about strange NPCs he doesn't know plus he's aware that the game became real and its not that big a deal to him if he kills people in it.
At first, Momonga thought that he might be in YGGDRASIL 2, and considered the options if the New World was a game or not. The New World being a game posed far too many problems when compared to it being real.
ainz save the kingdom without knowing killing a lot of selfish Noble who only has only care about themselves a reduce theainz the mouth needed to be feed :what coincidence :O
My problem with episode was them use death knight so there given as hope alone kill them all I whach anime with once side fight and more blood and guts but I get it show that human are invents from where ainz is stand in full force as character that get there humanity are better than humanity that still have because humanity is just are of trying to justify so will know is bad
According to ainz even though he killed 70k soldiers he sould have been able to summon more dark young but for some reason it stopped at 5 he belives that 5 is the maximum cap.
What would really be great is if they combine how not to summon a demon lord with this anime. And have them duke it out but I think this anime will win because the main character in how not to summon a demon lord his support is very week they would be no challenge but the main character might stand a little but now that I think about it he always use to much mp when in this anime he doesn't seem to have to worry as much about it
Yeah, I was thinking mostly a typical human char, who's been playing the game since open beta. So he's maxed in half a dozen classes, has multiple world items, etc. Walks up to any of the floor guardians and smacks them around like a typical NPC char.
@IchhinX Even if there are other players in the new world, chances are they are still not gonna pose any threat to Ainz. His guild is the top guild in Yggdrasil meaning he and his guild mates are OP even amongst the players, even a max level player would have trouble dealing with him due to the amount of Cash Shop Items and World Class Items that the guild possesses.
Daleap Nhep Yup, but his guild isnt with him anymore, is it? Just coz a guild is the "strongest" on a server, doesnt mean they're not equally strong players.
Never understood the npcs all being so weak. Never played an rpg where the likes of royals are below player lvl cap and hnm are always well above the player lvl cap. In fact most npcs in mmorpg don't even have a given lvl.
You shouldn't assume that they are NPCs. It's very unlikely that the New World is a game due to the many problems the idea has. However, the New World being a separate world which isn't a game but an actual world doesn't have any of those problems. Some of the problems with the "It's just a game" view are: -Reaction times are too slow for everyone -It's illegal to force people to use Dive technology (Fines or even jail) -High processing power to keep the world loaded with all superintelligent AI's and game engines -Someone had to copy all NPCs and create their own personality which matched flavor text WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF THE GAME SHUTTING DOWN -The question of why only about 20 players have appeared in total in the past 600 years -Lack of nano-bots force quit dive experiences -Ainz's body would have died due to starvation -Who is funding it and why
