I think a good nerf for widow would be to display a red laser when she's scoped in and an audio cue as she's charging up. Exactly like the sniper from the blackwatch PvE mission.

Mccrees magnetic grenade is the worst thing ever added to the game I’d rather get flashed. The ability is so incredibly lame. The amount of times I’ve died to a nade that literally chased me from North Korea to Taiwan to China to Japan to the US, somehow stuck on too me, and then I took 1 shot from literally any character and instantly died, it’s insane. And there’s many cases where a flash would be useless but magnetic grenade WILL attach to you for whatever reason. Either make it not magnetic and it’s a skill shot you have to actually land, or bring back flash.

Soj just needs a small re work at this point. Just make railgun only get headshot damage when she ults or give her a different ability and make railgun only be her ult.

Inbetween ranked games, I love playing mystery heroes. No one knows what they are doing. No one cares. The main goals are praying you get a character you’re decent at and trying to survive long enough to pop ult. It’s a ton of fun.

I'm actually kinda hoping that with widow, they do a sojourn and remove the one shot but still have a headshot take like 3/4 of the characters' health. She's still viable that way, but now it's not insta death, and you've got a chance to get away or behind cover. Lowering her health isn't doing shit

Rework hanzo and widow to mid range champs that require skill instead of luck (obviously there are incredibly skilled widow/hanzo mains). Snipers make no sense for overwatch in general, never mind a one shot. IN MY OPINION. Also "counter picking is not a replacement for skill" tell that to every zen player that perma discord orbs only one problematic person on the enemy team for 15 minutes.

im gold so im not exactly the highest of ranks but since the 1 shot nerf i havent seen a lot of hog but widow is nearly every game i play. Then its a 50/50 if my widow is better or not, i think its really repettive i see a good amount of orisas but i dont think its as bad.

Reminder that Sojourn now gets 5 railgun charge per shot hit, it's not based on damage anymore. So she's even better at charging her railgun off of targets that have high damage resist. (I assume this video was made pre-patch, since Flats is still talking about Hog-Sojurn meta)

He kinda skimmed over it, but the reason why Widows base damage got nerfed while increasing her headshot multiplying when OW came out is because a mercy boosted Widowmaker was able to one shot BODY SHOT 200hp characters. That was broken AF because it greatly reduced the skill required to be good with her.

Soujourns charge doesn’t build more or less based off of the damage anymore, it only charges less when shooting shields and deployables

my idea for a Cass change is this; he does NOT need a stun, but he ALSO doesn't need a heat seeking missile that most people forget they even have. Replace the grenade entirely, it's never going to be a fun item, it's either useless to the Cass, or a complete nightmare for the enemy. Instead of a heat seeker I think it needs to just be a regular ass grenade, it would suit the deadlock origin, match up with Ash a bit, and be much more useful as a utility rather than a clean up tool.

I've been saying this for a little while but ranked is 100x more fun if you play as a duo. I don't really have a lot of fun playing OW solo, but every single time i've played it with my friend, it's always a relatively good experience, some games are frustrating but usually the negative feelings disappear quickly because conversations in comms take your mind away from the shit that is OW2

I dont care about the meta, i hate playing against mei, and the happiest time of my life was when mei was out of the game. It just feels like her entire kit is tailored to cause pain and anger.

I HIGHLY disagree with you about Brig. Changing the cool down by just .5 seconds and giving her another repair pack would make her perfect. I can't tell you how many countless times I've tried my best to heal the team with her, but ran out of healing... Sure, there is another healer, but they can't be everywhere at once, and have their own cool downs to worry about. If it comes down to the cool downs punishing you, rather than skill, then the cool down is the problem. Like if you go into total mayhem and you're still bad with a character, then you obviously have a skill issue with them. Because you should just be even better with said character, unless you're being countered.

I'm gonna throw out a proposed Sojourn mini-rework, lemme know what y'all think. For the rapid-fire, I would revert the spread nerf from a few patches ago. It feels clunky to use and doesn't really matter since most of the time Sojourn can just feed off of tanks to build railgun, so the spread nerf doesn't even really change much. For the railgun, the base body-shot damage is now directly correlated to the number of charge. At 100 charge, you do 100 damage. At 72 charge, you do 72 damage. The headshot multiplier is still 1.5x, so a max power railgun crit will do at most 150 damage. Still great for finishing people off, but not as oppressive as before, especially if she has a Mercy pocket. I'll leave slide unchanged for now. It's strong but considering the other changes I don't think it's necessary to touch here. The disruptor shot feels pointless without the slow. I would halve the damage and add a 20-30% slow back to it. For her ultimate, while I'd rather her get an entirely new one since I think Overclock is extremely boring, that would take a lot of work on the devs part so I'll just tweak her current one. Since Railgun was nerfed to 150 max damage, during Overclock the railgun can now charge up to 150%, allowing her to deal 150 damage on bodyshots and 225 on headshots during her ultimate. The charge rate would stay the same, however, so it'd have a decent delay between each time she's able to 1-tap squishes. I also think this makes more sense tbh, it's called Overclock, her weapon should be going beyond 100% power in that scenario. If she still proves to be really strong after all this, I think the next step would be to nerf her health to 175.

As a Widow player, my only problem with this "remove one shots" discussion is that it's literally Widow's entire identity in the game. She IS the one shot character. You can't just play her and get one shots either like Sojourn, you have to commit and learn how to play her properly. Take away Widow's one shot and she's just a worse Ashe because Ashe is already a very strong pick with Dynamite and Bob. Widow only has poison trap, easiest thing to see and 12 seconds of walls, which is still very strong but not nearly as impactful as BOB on point is. I understand why one shots are a problem now in 5v5, I get it. But when people complain and say the Widow is making the game unplayable for them so we should take away her identity and make her an unplayable hero; it's not a surprise to me that everyone complains about game balance because no one knows how to do it. Players always make it seem like they know what's best for the game and "its so easy to balance the game" and then their solution is "remove X character and buff X character so that the game is fun for me, a junkrat player who only wants to spam nades down an enclosed hallway".

Look,if you wanna buff soujorn then there's only 1 thing they need to do. Completely axe her beam from critting. That character will be INFINITELY less infuriating to deal with since her railgun won't be one shotting you anymore. (No,capping the headshot damage to 195 or whatever is not a nerf,that's just awful design. Literally 1 tiny shot and a beam and you're dead regardless.)

I think Widow is oppressive not but she’s busted or OP but because her mere presence forces you and your team to play differently. I was playing Widow and completely sucked but their DPS was on me constantly switched to widow themselves. I’m not sure how to make her less oppressive while also retaining her fun value and in game value.

Hanzo is absolutely miserable to play against. Wall climbing, wall hacking, rapid firerate, extremely quiet, small hitbox, and projectile arrows you spam down a chokepoint to delete supports or whoever the universe decides walks into it. I may only be plat but I fail to see why hanzo is in the game.

Thinking back on it, the only classes that can one-shot in TF2 with default loadouts are Sniper and Spy. Not even the grenade launcher or rocket launcher Demoman and Soldier can destroy anyone instantly.

This seems to be from an older stream but I'll just say it again: There are no based "remove hero" takes. Blizzard won't be removing any hero because the people who spent the last up to 7 years unlocking or buying cosmetics for the character and getting good at them would straight-up lynch Aaron Keller and his team. You've seen how outraged people get over even just minor nerfs to their main so just imagine how it would look like if they actually removed a character. People would demand nothing short of being compensated for every single cosmetic they owned for that hero and then some and Blizz would either lose a fortune caving in to the demands or experience the kind of PR desaster that could actually kill the game. Who cares if the top 500 actually think not having that hero anymore is healthy for the game if there's 500000 players on the lower ranks quitting because they've lost trust in the devs. "Delete xyz" is just not a productive suggestion, it's straight-up trolling. People should just stop with that nonsense and instead think about actually viable overhauls that could serve to address the issue.

Brig and ball both are the kinds of characters that are best when they have a low pick rate high win rate. It's okay to have characters that need specialists to perform well. Not everyone needs to play every character

The thing about one shot counters is so true. I play Hanzo since day 1(of ow1) cuz I just love how he feels and so many people go Winston and just dive and 5 storm arrows to the dome of a Winston that doesn't know how to properly play around bubble does some crazy stuff. Same thing for dps that aren't good with genji or tracer but try to counterpick with them. I can outplay you if you aren't good with the character. One shot heroes are some of the easiest to one-trick because at the end of the day no matter how hard they counter you, all you have to do is land your shots and it dont matter.

Flats definately popularized the "supports are having to play Dead by Daylight in the backline." He's the first one I heard use it, and he started using it so much that tons of players started using it.

I think for a cass change, they could bring stun back in the form of "pocket sand". For it to work you have to aim for the enemy's head, and even while stunned the enemy can still move around and interact, they'll just be temporarily blinded. Give the ability a windup animation so there's some interplay and chances to avoid the stun

Widowmaker is also a precession character so unless your good at fast flicks and good aim she sucks and one shots don’t matter. Also she’s one of theweakest hero’s in overwatch taking away her one shot would ruin her. And no one would play her

Imma have to (slightly) disagree with Flats on not vocalizing your anger towards teammates. About 2 days ago, I was playing Mercy on Shambali (started on defend). At first we were getting rolled because Junk had flanked us, resulting in losing both DPS with me just barely surviving. I see both our Rein and Lucio were still alive with Rein at half hp, so I GA'd behind his shield and healed to max. We lost first point (no biggie, right?) and while me, Lucio and our dps were fighting for our lives, our Rein was BACKING AWAY FROM THE FIGHT AT FULL HP AND SHIELD. ET capped second, and were rounding the corner towards third, and this is when our Rein turns on his mic and starts blaming us for "not pocketing him" and how he needs more than a Lucio because he loves playing Rein and doesn't wanna switch (he didn't switch at all). And keep in mind, he hasn't died yet throughout the entire 1st round After thoroughly flaming and reminding him of how he left us to fend for ourselves, did he start engaging in the game (even tho his still only shielded for himself), and you wanna know what happened? We damn near blitz through to 3 points with minimal losses and crushed ET so hard that when we were back on defend, their tank, a dps and a support rq'd. I'm not saying you should rage at your team when you lose. Just sayin', our entire team only chewed him out cuz he opened his mouth to blame us, despite him not doing anything at the beginning

1 shots are fun only if they take skill to execute. Which every single 1 shot in the history of overwatch HAS TAKEN SKILL. ITS THE NO SKILL BABYS CRYING ABOUT THEM BECAUSE THEY CANT BE GOOD AT THE GAME

I mean, whether you believe one shots should be removed or not is one thing, but the dude didn't make any points about the nerfs to one shots. "It's almost like Junkrat got nerfed multiple times" could still one shot the entire time.. "It's almost like Hanzo has undergone tons of changes" could still one shot.. "Widow got less ammo and shorter grapple range" could still one shot.. "Hog nerfed" Could still one shot.. Soldier, Sojourn, Zen, Reaper, Rein all have (or had until recently) potential to kill in one shot or a one shot combo. Add in any cc that can knock enemies off the map (which I get is situational) then you have Doom, Rein, Brig, Dva, Orisa, Sigma, Monkey, Ball, Lucio, Hog (again), Ashe, Ana (land those sleeps on flying characters), Pharah, Sombra (hacking flying characters off map), and Zarya. It's fine to feel like one shots should be removed, but to argue that one shot characters were nerfed so that they could no longer one shot, is just wrong. Maybe made their kits in general nerfed, but could still perform one shot kills. Half the characters have been able to one shot (one shot combo) most of the time, despite nerfs and if you add in being able to knock enemies off the map, that's like every character except JQ, Ramattra, Tracer, Torb, Symm, Mei, Echo, Moira, Bap, Kiriko and Mercy. Pretty much only a couple from each role can't. What.. 11 out of 36 characters can't one shot or knock enemies off map.

Hot Take: Widow isn't fun to fight because the game doesn't fit her. It is possible to balance one shots, it can be made fun and nice and everything. But the game widow exists in, makes her either completely terrible, or absolutely broken.

I was super surprised sym wasn’t picked as an Orisa counter. She’s been one of the only characters I can reliably melt her with. Her primary burns her even through her cooldowns and once it’s ramped up it really shreds!

What if mercy had damage boost removed and instead blue beam was a damage reduction. Like 10%-15% damage reduction. It'd still make sense to pocket dps since it'd give them an inherent advantage in dps duels even outside healing, it'd make more sense lorewise for mercy not wanting to harm, etc. It'd be annoying to kill whoever the mercy is pocketing (which is still already the case), but at least we're removing more damage from the game and mercy still retains her usefulness, maybe even more so since now damage boost isn't reliant on people actually hitting their shots.

As someone who loves sniper characters in any fps, I started off as Widow and eventually became a Cass and Ashe main because Widow is just so god dam boring to play into and as. Most fights are click heads and you barely use cooldowns. I would love for her to get some kind of rework to make her actually more than just aim training. I don't mind the idea of 1 shots in the game, but I think if a character is gonna have that potential, they shouldn't have it from like 50m across the map

I wish so bad I could just chill in ranked. Not only do I get really bad anxiety but the bronze DPS constantly blaming everyone else but themselves makes it even worse. It's hard to control anxiety. I should just shut off comms or something but then I don't feel like a team player. I also get a sort of imposter syndrome for not learning maps and strats. It makes me feel like I am the weakest link in the team.

I’m a low-elo support character, and Cassidy is kinda cheeks rn, to play with and against. The players are either terrible, (which are ngl kinda funny to roll as mercy), or they’re an all-star flanker.

Here’s my take on people giving examples for a hero example like the bastion vs zarya one I like where he’s going with it but during the examples can we add a mercy and Kiri pocket

It's so funny how people talk about some heroes needing buffs and nerfs when Reaper does almost nothing in High Elos cuz he's practically just a waste of HP and space there cuz he has to get up close and beat the shit out of the tank considering his gameplay, and in a well communicative game Reaper can't attack anyone, what's also funny is that he doesn't even one shot considering the massive risk he goes through to actually get a tiny amount of Value. He should be able to One shot and at least be more survivable in case he does a mistake so he can at least escape like other charavters instead of inevitably get burned down by the whole team. Yes Mistakes are punishable but at least make them lenient for some heroes so repeating that mistake will actually be punishable by being destroyed.

I definitely think they should nerf sojourn but I also feel like Cree needs a new ult it’s cold school and I think the game is to fast and to burst orientation and I also think people have gotten better and everyone here’s “HiGh NoOn” scream in their ears and they either focus the shit outta you or hide yes you can cancel it quickly to get a quick reload but come on you do all that work for an ult to just reload cancel with it like it needs to be changed PLEASE

hot take: i think widow headshots full charge should one hit, bc snipers are supposed to go from distance and you literally made her shoot a nerf gun at this point. to balance it, anything not full charge can't kill one hit. right now she is essentially a worse ashe, and it sucks to play her. especially when healers have less damage fall off than her

But in low elos after a zarya second bubbles supports just spam heal her till she has second and the second you turn on them they just ult because they got enough charge from healbottin lmao
