That Kiriko's skin should've been a epic skin.

While I'm not going to be harsh on blizzard for their first collab I can't fully agree with flats. Giving Kirko sleeves and more of dress doesn't make anyone unaware of who she is. Also I don't think he is aware they took the gun from a battle pass soldier to skin and put it on a crossover. The fact it's a crossover should basically cut out the idea of reusing assets imo since it's supposed to be really special. I also think crossover skins should be their own rarity but that isn't that big. Either way I think this is one time Flats is being overly protective of blizzard but I understand cause if we are to harsh they may never do it again. Doesn't mean we can't critique though and the fact he isn't aware there are NO special voicelines attached to the skins or sound effects with kiriko only having the change of her fox being more turquoise (like imagine a bit of music playing when doom ulted or did a fully empowered punch or genji having robotic engine sounds when reloading or when dashing). Edit: and now flats acts like because the main skin of the collab is fully unique we can't criticize the rest. That guy wasn't getting flamed by flats cause his points were as effective as splashing water on a raging forest fire.

Regarding the 2nd clip that was talking about the laziness of the One Punch Man event, I think he's referring more towards how the skins he referenced have actually unique models and details, while the Kiriko and Soldier skins are just previous skins with like three details being changed at most. I know I personally was very disappointed with the Soldier skin (mostly the gun) being a carbon copy of Bug Hero. A primary example of this would be the Mime skin for Moira, to help provide an idea as to what I (and ultimately the Tik Tok creator) are talking about. On a side note, I do agree that it was wrong of the creator to try and weaponize his opinion like Flats points out when reading the comments.

OW's silhouettes are pretty unique to mistake for someone else, especially tanks, like theres only one mfer in this game with a massive hammer/hammer-esque weapon in full armor charging at me. I dont see him in a spacesuit and start freaking out questioning who he is

Missed the point about the skins, you ended up proving OP's point. He was making the argument that Blizzard *do* changes that are drastic and still maintain the hero identity, so the excuse of "Kiriko's skin is only a recolor so we can maintain the silhouette" goes out the window when you realize other skins with major modifications exist. What I like to bring up in this argument is that, Kiriko has a skin that literally gets rid of her skirt. (Athleisure) So the idea that we can't have a kiriko skin that doesnt have the same skirt shape is just not true. They could've changed the skirt shape, they could've given her a new dress instead of a recolor, and still maintained the hero identity.

Flats over here basically agreeing with the skins TikTok, but doesn't know it. They could have easily given Kiriko a MUCH closer looking skin to Tatsumaki, but as it stands, they gave her legs, some black paint, and wig. That shit would be an Epic in OW1, but they called it a Legendary. Blizz could have given her a proper dress, and some sleeves, and no one would be confused.

That guy was completely right about the Kiriko and Soldier skins. The Soldier had a ton of reused assets, but that was free so who cares. The Kiriko skin however does not deserve the legendary tag and has no right being the same price as something like Cupid Hanzo.

Feel like Flats completely missed the point of the skin argument. Dude wasn't saying that any of those skins were confusing, he was saying that they weren't confusing even though they were much bigger departures from the main look of the character than the new OPM skins, which means Blizz's entire argument of worrying about going over the line and ruining character identity was just bs to cover the fact that they put as little effort into a cashgrab as they could get away with. You don't identify characters based on fashion sense anyway, you identify them with things like character model size, running animation, sound and look of primary fire, footstep noise. Its information like that that's important not to change, kiriko and soldier did not NEED to have assets from basically entire skins reused just to maintain character identity, but Blizz did that anyway because why put effort into something when people will clearly pay the money regardless?

I'll give them Kiriko for not having as much effort but there wasn't too much they could do. However for Soldier Mumen Rider Skin it makes sense to reuse assets. The big skin is based on Kamen Rider a Japanese character. Mumen Rider is based on Kamen Rider. Therefore it was going to look like the bug Soldier skin regardless. It made more sense to use the bug assets than to not to.

the Kiriko skin should have had at least a bit of a custom sculpt, I understand wanting to retain the design attributes of the hero but charging $19 for what is essentially a fancy recolor is horrible. Soldier is a recolor but it’s not super obvious and works well with the design of Mumen Rider, i have 0 issue with that skin but i can never get over how Kiriko’s skin looks

Not Flats and Chat completely missing the point that skin criticizer was making...Like fundamentally misunderstanding the purpose of bringing up the other skins in the game The entire point is that those other skins are FINE, yet change the hero appearance MORE than the collab skins he mentioned (Soldier and Kiriko) The reason to bring that up is that the excuse of "the heroes are dressing up as the characters not becoming them" is not enough - because other skins change the heroes more and that is OK

The thing is I don’t mind the soldier skin using preexisting assets, but they should have used Kiriko’s Witch Skin instead of her basic design bc its closer to Tastumaki. And the “bundle” is only fairly priced if you ignore that the Kiriko and Genji skins aren’t epic like they should be (maybe not the Genji one but still, $40 for 3 skins? Are we officially in an age now where thats considered normal for only 3 skins?)

silhouettes in games are VERY IMPORTANT, I come from league and some champions there have problems where their skins CANNOT change much about them because their silhouettes are based on weapons or ornaments

Thanks for watching my video brother, I def think you missed the points i was making a tad bit but it's fine, all love at the end of the day. was just saying they've done things better before without ruining "a figure" and for their first Collab the "not wanting to change a character to much" doesn't really apply or is something they can use an excuse for cutting corners or holding themselves back. when previous skins have done much more to the characters and still retained the heroes identity, giving kiriko a proper dress isn't going to ruin anything the same way giving her a witch hat didn't ruin anything. as for the brig skin, I only mentioned it because it was a skin that had special sounds and stuff thats tied to it, as an example that blizzard should be providing more of that type of stuff for their crossover skins to help make them special. (NOT the twitch controversy surrounding it) for their first collab ever i wanted and expected more, and they took 2 skins put a new coat of paint on it and a wig/helmet, and is saying it's equivelant in terms of value as the valentine hanzo skin, when there's clearly more time and attention to detail spent on hanzos. its insane and super deflating. just gotta hope they do better and don't hide behind this fear or idea of "not wanting to change characters to much" for why the skins didn't go all out.

When it comes down to it it's all about the price. People are upset about collab skin cause of the high price despite lack of changes compared to same priced legendary skin etc. I feel like there would be lot less complaint in general if current prices just got cut in half all around.

I know half the comments are already this but it was bizzare seeing Flats just fucking LOSE IT in the middle of the video. The first clip was arguably where it really started. Bro is too mechanically trained to respond to these TikToks in a debate/flamewar way, like whether it was 7 v 7 doesn't matter to his overall >personal< method of framework that he was explaining.

5:15 "they don't want to ruin the figure of the character, that's a poor excuse" when he said that I immediately knew he had no idea wtf he was talking about. Messing with a character silhouette can be one of the most game ruining things in designing cosmetics for a character. I tend to compare overwatch to tf2, as they are generally comparable in a lot of ways, and tf2 shows what happens when you take cosmetics and alter that silhouette in extreme cases (lazypurple actually brings this up at one point in "how it feels to play sniper"). While I don't love all the skins the OW team has put out, they deserve praise for making some straight up fantastic skins that maintain the original silhouette of their characters. One of my personal favorites is the pharah ghost armor.

I will say towards all of this guys arguments at 7:00 is the same way I feel about league skins that they are completely original skins so what you see should be attributed to that character since there isn't anything else present that looks like that in common pop culture. It becomes less obvious when you use a commonly known character if you start changing more and more about what that hero wears, uses, or moves like.

It seems a lot of people don't understand this (I know that's does since he went to school for business) is that a colab involves two parties. Both parties get paid. So if they went all out on the Doomfist skin and done simpler changes to Soldier and Kiri, they are still going to charge those premiums due to this being a colab. That's most likely the reason for the bundle since that is a better perceived value and both can share in the profit since it is a colab.

For the first one Jayne used to do something similar, counting values, +1 on kills, -1 on deaths, but some cds are also counted for value, not only kills and deaths So you boop away a Rez; you provided value to your team equivalent to a +1 You failed the Rez; equivalent to a -1 Stunned the ulting rein out of a 5 man shatter; +5 kinda If I understood him correctly it was less about knowing when to push advantage and more for grading impact of plays to analyze player performance and look for mistakes to coach away or strengths to boost or rely more on, that kinda thing Saw him analyzing a pro Lucio play that didn't look flashy AT ALL, but he provided value for his team for about a +7, he practically carried the team fight, but I (plat brain at the time) would have never got how nor acknowledge his contribution without the value explanation

I thought it was a re post then remembered I was in the stream. They say they reused the bug hero skin for soldier's one punch skin but mumyn rider is based off of Kamen rider, his belt is even a Kamen rider belt, the design is exactly the same as the anime and manga.

Tbh the first time I saw the Nova skin, I thought it was for Mercy. Then 2 seconds later I learned the truth when I found myself back in spawn.
