on the topic of the support issue stitch, I was playing mercy with a moira and brand new player playing sigma, I was being targeted by the enemy reaper so moira came to help me when I asked and nobody else came to help me, I pulled out the glock and got the killing blow, sigma saw this and the kill feed then decided to throw by not doing anything except punch me, he then later complained I wasn't healing when we lost the first round, I had stopped healing him because he was throwing. in summary its the new players who watch other new players on tiktok for advice on how to play that make us support hate playing our main role

When flats said the best thing you could do when tilted is shut your mouth. This is such good advice. You can tell how many hours somebody has in the game by their temper, people with thousands of hours realize its not worth yelling over, 1 game means nothing. but people with 100 hours will scream at their supports because losing 1 game means a lot more to them. When the one dude said to tell him that bastion and sojourn need damage amps I felt myself get dumber. As mercy you don’t damage amp a character because they don’t do enough damage alone, you damage amp a character because they already do a bunch of are performing better and doing so only helps them end fights quicker.

yeah I feel like not enough people realize that supports get constantly screamed at by people. even when we're winning I get flamed like every other game for using speed boost (the point of lucio's kit). like literally had a roadhog scream at me at the top of his lungs for speed boosting him. he said, and I quote, "If you're going to play lucio, stay on healing."

9:20 As a Sombra main I can safely say that Sombra is "countered" by Moira. As usual, if you have good aim you can kill her, even without the hack, but that's with all heroes against Moira. The reason Moira counters Sombra is NOT because she can fade out of the hack, but because her lock-on dmg can cancel the hack animation AND she can fade out of the hack once it's done to clear the effects. I still find it fun to cancel Moira ults, they're really easy to cancel from high ground.

Another reason why it sucks playing support is that you get hard focused every fight cuz the game works like this: kill healers = win fight one time i litterly played against a ramantra that would litterly keep walking trough all of my team to punch me to death. But when you do do a good job and youre successfully keeping youre team alive it does give an amazing feeling

That second tiktok is showing an EXTREMELY common fallacy that pops up in gaming discussion a lot. People want to patch up what's lacking in their stats/team/etc rather than double down on their strengths which is always just more optimal. So in this case they want to increase their tank's damage because in their mind, their dps already has higher damage, so it's the tank that benefits more from the boost.

People should never be toxic period. If you’re toxic to your team, it’s more likely they will play bad to spite you. If you’re toxic to the enemy, it’s more likely they will play good to spite you. So I agree, you should just keep your mouth shut.

The support take also has an understanding gap, you can physically see people who understand the support team while many many more have 0 clue what a support does. for example there are people that will actively kite enemies following their moira healing orb showing they understand mechanically how to maximize the efforts of their supports. some other common negative examples are people leaving the safety of batista lamp or a dps peaking for damage despite having been discorded by a zen, it's like common buddy you doubling my healing efforts at healing or just insta dying when you can wait it out. inadvertently the result of their failures in knowledge of supports often just turns into hate against supports doing double duty playing babysitter for poor game sense.

I’m really glad support players are starting to call out how it feels to play support. It’s actually really annoying in low ranks usually get smashed and blamed for “not keeping the team alive” even though I am usually the support with the most impact in the game

The only reason Mercy should ever heal or boost the tank is if the other support is dead or struggling because the tank is taking a lot of agro. Other than that if she's on the tank she's stealing the other supports ult charge and not doing her job

As a support main I used to believe in the whole “protect me and I’ll protect you” but I’ve realized if I do that it further solidifies for others that I’m just a healer and not support. I can defend myself while healing my team otherwise what would be the point of support having their weapons to protect themselves. One time a Dva aggressively targeted me into a corner of a building that I couldn’t get away from, and that wasn’t my team’s fault. Just like it’s not my fault when a teammate is trying to 1v5 the enemy and gets sent back to respawn.

on the support discussion I honestly feel similarly found limiting my communication with my team and not playing a group is a better experience for me personally and I did perform a lot better than trying to communicate and defend myself of being blamed mid match. I haven't played long enough to say I am good at Overwatch since I've picked it up when overwatch 2 was released. I like being the support as it makes me feel useful and that I have enough tool to protect myself and my team. Overwatch is a team game and if people start playing for themselves then they eventually fall apart no matter your communication with them.

Plat moira main, won't claim to be an expert, but my opinion on the counter bit (assuming these are solo contexts & not considering any other things going on in a match or whatever) Ana - not really, anti-nade can be cleansed with fade, which is more important than dodging sleep since you can reliably insta-fade out of her sleep combo, without those, you can pretty reliably elim Ana, either orb works in this context, but prioritise heal orb if she pulls the sleep combo. I suppose in the larger team context, a fat nade "counters" moira by denying her team healing, but that's about it I think. Echo - cooldown-dependent, you can fade out of the stickies & your heal orb & lifesteal can keep you pretty safe from her focusing beam, then you just grasp her the full time. No competent Moira wouldn't fade in that context in the tic tac. Genji - you're pretty safe unless he bursts & swift strikes you directly in your face, fade for distance/survivability, if he uses deflect you literally just sit there with your grasp, if you go for dmg orbs throw it off to the side to see if he tunnel visions deflecting it. Reaper - you're only in danger if he's right next to you, so fade for distance if/after he gets close, with distance your self-sustain outperforms his self-sustain. Pharah - it's a bit mixed, Moira's pretty decent at locking onto and bullying a Pharah if you're able to get below her, it depends on the Pharah's aim and your self-sustain, heal orb is more important than dmg orb (that's true in most contexts but esp here since you'll just throw it at the skybox) if the Pharah has a Mercy pocket it's an uphill battle, try and prioritise the Mercy. Hog - definitely, it was an uphill struggle in ow1, now he has 100 more hp and 50(?) more self-healing, you cannot realistically solo him if the player has more than 3 braincells, maybe use him to recharge healing in a team context if there's no one else to target. Sombra - not really, maybe her dmg bonus if she does successfully hack helps her in this matchup now, but she doesn't really threaten you outside of cancelling your ult. Be aware your grasp & dmg orb will not lock onto her while she's *fully* cloaked, but that means any time she is visible you can bully her out of hack & stealth.

Mercy guy never took pre-algebra. Giving a charecter with low damage output a 1.3 modifier is worse than giving it to a charecter with high damage.

I think the Widow is legit and I am the first person to call someone a cheater if they do an insane shot, he did nothing impossible and missed in between (very close shots). If he is cheating then it's not one of those very obvious looking aimbots because the aim looks legit. That widow is dumb lol. Bad positioning is ALWAYS bad positioning no matter how much you're fragging out. Hypothetically, let's say he wasn't cheating. If he wasn't so dumb and tried to kill the Sigma, he could've kept a good position to kill 1-3 more again rather than dying trying to challenge the whole team. Cool, you got 3 picks, reset yourself and stop being greedy so you can set yourself up to do it again. That creates window for opportunity and reinforces consistency, which is what that Widow 100% lacks and why it's hard to believe they're not cheating. Consistency is also arguably much better and preferable than being able to pop off every now and then. How can you have the mechanics of a top 500 God but the mentality and positioning of a bronze (prob rankless) player? Bad positioning is rarely justified, and even this clip doesn't justify playing Widow in the front line.

I'm not saying I'm cracked at the game but I have clips while playing widow that my flicks are on point just like this and I go the fuck off but in the same day I could be bad and hit body shots. Looking at a 30 second clip alone you can't tell this guy is cheating unless the cursor was following enemies through objects which it wasn't and people can have great aim in FPS without ever playing Overwatch so his positioning is clearly a sign of that.

I went from dps to support. One of the kwy things support players need to know is your dps is paying 0 attention to you and are mostly focused on their own gameplay. No they're not ignoring you, they genuinely dont hear the "come to me for healing". You need to tell your dps whats going on so they can adjust. "Pharah is targeting me" - now your dps are going to be more aggro towards pharah to prevent her from focusing you freely. To my other support. I AM MORE IMPORTANT THAN DPS. If im getting dove, or focused IT'S YOUR JOB to peel for me. Not the dps, not the tank.
