Let's all be honest, Torbjorn is the best character in the lore, he took down a giant mech all by himself, he kindly took Bastion under his wing, he has like what 8 kids? Which means he bangs his wife on the daily, and he is responsible for the key phrase of the whole series "cheers love, the calvary's here". I just wish all this was reflected in game, where he gets no respect
I feel bad for genji, tubes in his arms, it looks kinda painful 3: Plus he's still being built, he still had rage about hanzo....he needs a hug(and healing)
iMawgan only things that don't suit Mercy's and Tracer's new outfits - those silly hats. Taking their abilities into account (flight and blink respectively) - they would lose them at first opportunity.
WOW. What a comic! TIMECODES are in the description to skip. What do you think of the story reveals, what's your favourite? Lots of speculation off the back of this now...and, how about those BLATANT skins - I think it's not when, but which, for a lot of those! :) Genji hype? Where does the Widow skin fit in, I wonder.....:) Do let me know your thoughts on the comic, in the comments! :D Hit up madefire or overwatch website for the comic! Hammeh
I think Japan complaining about Blackwatch might be because of Genji who is now confirmed to be part of Blackwatch dismantling the Shimada clan just a theory however
Except, nobody knows Genji was in Overwatch, nor he was part of a covert ops. Even if they knew what Blackwatch was, he couldn't be recognized because of his cyborg appearance.
It is, especially since you'd think the "bad" guy usually can't feel sympathy, I honestly think it's because he is no longer in command of overwatch and knows what it's like to get the shit end of the stick. What do you think?
The complaint from Japan could actually be a reference to the fall of the Shimada Clan. As we can see, Genji is a part of Blackwatch, and the Japanese government probably wouldn't be too keen on having Overwatch's sketchier side messing around with their internal affairs.
Little theory: What if Genji went on that mission and helped rescue all of the hostages as well as Mondata. And then Mondata realises Genjis cybernetics and that he is half omnic and human and kinda sees through Genjis feelings (can see genji is troubled) so mondata mentions/recommends the shembali (if thats how its spelled) so genji goes and travels to the monastery and takes a liking to zenyatta and trains under him. probably completely inaccurate. but it's just a thought
Big K a person's canon that they themselves believe. It's their own version of the story that is built off the canon blizzard creates with their own ideas.
Well I wouldn't say that could happen. Zenyatta is a nomad. He doesn't stay in Nepal. He wanted a more down to earth approach about spreading enlightenment and goes around just helping people. He disagrees with the preaching style of the other enlightened omnics. So it doesn't make sense for him to be staying at the monatery.
Hammeh! I don't know if you remember, but I pointed out a potential Genji Blackwatch affiliation on your Blackwatch video! I'm so happy the theory worked out lmao😩🙌🏼 perhaps the instance in Japan had to do with Genji. We know that Genji's mission was to take out the Shimada crime syndicate. We also know KNOW that Genji was affiliated with Blackwatch. Perhaps they got a little too...enthusiastic.
Just a theory, but what if the the whole Blackwatch in Japan thing is because Blackwatch was sent to assassinate the head of the Shimada clan, (Genji and Hanzo's father) I mean, it makes sense in my head.
Not quite, Blackwatch was sent just to dismantle the clan (or what was let of it), because, let us recall, the incident with Hanzo and Genji happened following their father's death which was 10 years ago.
I flipped when I saw Genji's Blackwatch logo and how scarred he was. I also noticed that the removal of clothing on the right breast is a tradition in the Shimada clan
I wish I had more in-game currency. I'll be able to get a few of what I want (depending on if they are Legendary items or not) I'll just have to be lucky when it comes to the boxes.
Here is my speculations 1. The skins here will be introduced in the coming event. 2. I think the Arcade game will be PvE with the Overwatch cast defending London COD Zombie-style, with waves and easter eggs. 3. Said eastereggs may require an action, but iwll ultimatelly give us more clues about the past.
I'm imagining that this even will last 28 days, one for each of the days of the uprising, the 28 day being after the one shown and the resolution to it. It just seems like a nice amount of time for an event to take place in.
I have kind of of a theory behind why blackwatch received a complaint from the Japanese government. Maybe because they took genji in and the Japanese gov wanted to arrest him for affiliation with the shimada clan. Even though genji seems to not do anything in the clan, the government might still want him to question him but overwatch dose not let them.
Mr.Gamer22 If the Japanese government publicly asked for Genjis arrest then that would mean that the shimada clan knew about Genji being alive and Hanzo could have seen that on any tv. I think that if anything Genji and Blackwatch took down the shimadas, however, because of their power they could have influenced the Japanese government to make public statements against overwatch as a retaliation.
The question is, do people even know Genji survived and was taken in by Overwatch? Also, even if Blackwatch came into scrutinity, I don't think how the government managed to get any information of its members, Genji included, because it was a secret division after all. Hanzo could have known the clan was dismantled but not that Genji participated in that, remember he didn't know he was alive until their encounter in Hanamura.
Just cause reyes is a bit sarcastic and laid back doesnt mean hes not serious. You can be funny or have a few sarcastic remarks but you have to remember HES the one who is deaing with the problem first. He already has mcree in the field while morrison doesnt do anything til the end of the chapter.
Hammeh! Thank you so much for doing these videos. There's no one else doing anything like this and it really helps the Overwatch world feel alive :) Also, it seems weird that Mercy would be the one to encourage Morrison to violate national sovereignty- she became central to it's downfall by reporting it's malfeasances to an international body (iirc). No one's perfect but it's arguably an arbitrary line to draw to violate a nation's borders on the basis of what she personally perceives to be "Good" or "Evil" actions. We don't know what Blackwatch did (and I know I'm stretching this), but if they could kill someone potentially responsible for the deaths of millions of people shouldn't they do something? Isn't evil also in the eye of the beholder? Her doing that actually really made me question her judgement... They should have waited :/ (also, def. a Matrix reference)
Great video as always! Just some little points/speculation I picked up on: - The murdered Overwatch Official might be Gerad Lacroix, widowmakers husband, I think the eygpt news story is seperate form the murdered official - The Instance in Japan with Blackwatch might be extracting Genji maybe? The skin makes it look like he still is recovering despite his combat proficiency Also in terms of the event itself: - I think the event will be a standard Kings Row map but with a few changes. One of the main changes will be the map where there will be a lot more destruction in the streets. The heroes will start out in the church or at the church having being dropped off by their ship, and have to take out the anti air gun from the streets. During this an omnic horde will be happening. The bomb/payload (The one torb loaded in the comic) will then be dropped by the ship and the heroes will have to escort it to the power plant against the omnic hordes. Edit: Also Reinhardt skin xD
I would love if the event, instead of being a horde mode, is more like a PVE style match, were you fight off the Omnics that McCree is getting attacked by, and then delivering the bomb on a cart instead of on the plane, since the AA gun emplacement. I feel like this would be better than a horde mode.
I think that the Overwatch official that was murdered was Widowmaker"s husband because in the comic, under the headline where it says "Overwatch Official Murdered", there was some pictures of what seemed to be Overwatch gameplay. In three of the pictures it looks like Widowmaker gameplay when she is looking in her scope.
My Speculations/Theory from reading and analysing this comic: Reyes and Morrison's feud starts soon after this, theyre still in containment mode for Blackwatch under their supervision now since Cairo/Japan events happened. And its now official the scrutiny placed in Japan by Blackwatch was Reyes secretly using Genji as the ultimate weapon to eradicate Shimada Clan, an Assassin Guild located in Japan (You can call em Yakuza). And it was well presented that Genji was under Mercy's care while Lena was under Winston's, which ideally seem awesome how these characters connected from bioscience and physics fields. And toward the question "When did this happen pre-OW fall?" Well? I guess three or four years before it happend within the timeline. Genji is still on Blackwatch, and having context of him being with Winston and Tracer on missions, suggest that they formed the Third Generation of Agents for OW. Another factor would be Reinhardt's acceptance of retirement, he retired plausibly shortly after this. Another interval to think about is probably McCree being there in Switzerland HQ and his arm came from its destruction and placed as a reminder on how the "truth" behind its cause.
I feel like your videos are much more comprihensive than many other youtubers like Stylosa for example and i personally enjoy your style of videomaking to his! So keep up keepin' on!
That's very kind of you! Stylosa makes great videos, and does many things I can't :) I do enjoy focusing on the story and covering everything possible in detail to do with that though :)
Mercy, Torby Reinhardt and Tracer in a team :')) So good :)) Its all i could ever of dreamed in an overwatch comic :') If only bastion was there, but its still perfect :p
To be honest it definitely makes sense that Genji was a Blackwatch agent. He was the son of an infamous crime lord. Even if he didn't share the views of the Shimada clan there is no way Overwatch could have him as a face of their organisation especially given the scrutiny they were already under from the media and officials. So it would be logical to say he'd be shelved into the shadowy more private Blackwatch
I think it was always suggested that Reyes becomes the Reaper we know and love AFTER his clash with Morrison, which clearly hasn't happened just yet in this comic.
i have slight suspicion. we know that the team is away to kings row. Jack isnt coming with them so does Gabriel. as you said in the video that Gabriel kinda hiding something from the team. what if during the Team's mission, Jack finds out Gabriel true plan and that cause both of them to fight and cause the destruction of the Swiss base, hence the fall of Overwatch. imagine during kings row mission you found out your swiss HQ got destroyed.
A couple things to think about Hammeh: the murdered overwatch official that the news is reporting may well in fact be Gerad LaCroix. Due to this being before Ana's duel with Widowmaker, which would have to be sooner rather than later in the timeline. Also I think Blackwatch's activity in Japan might be them taking out the Shimada Clan. Perhaps during the battle, Blackwatch got exposed to the public? Maybe it was Reyes who recruited Genji to OW/BW similar to how he recruited McCree?
I'm glad to get more personality for mercy because let's be honest, the personality of "perfect pacifist angel" is pretty boring. Here she is much more forceful and I love it! I much prefer a mercy that is so driven to provide care for others that she will go to (perhaps any) lengths to do so. This gives her more oomph to her character and puts up some interesting moral and plot conflicts to explore!
At the time of Genji and Tracer training, Trevor Worenstein, or Quintessence which he would be called later on is having a conversation with his sister Emily. Quintessence is a character I'm working on. He was responsible for every bit of armor Tracer has on besides the Chronal Accelerator. He has a knack for modifying armor. Trevor was the one who asked Morrison personally if him and Winston could help her. He has worked with Mercy and McCree with their gear. Torbjorn considers him one of his star pupils.
Tbh i cant get mad at Reyes for being hostile with Morrison. I'd get pissed too if i lead a team for years only to get pushed down to 3rd place by some outside party and have my former partner take command😂
All of these incoming skins are really cool looking, but one bit that you kinda skipped over was the fact that this actually proved that Night Op 76 is canon is Morrison's flashback panel
Maybe the trouble with Blackwatch in Japan has to do with Genji. I mean we know that Overwatch/Blackwatch was helping him take down his families criminal empire. And given the Shimada families influence I doubt that would be a thing that would go unnoticed.
I think mayhaps the newest Cinematic will be the mission? That'd be great! I think it would've been nicely planned if that's the case, as the slower more dialog heavy bit is done here, and the more action bit could be done with the short. Here's hoping!
We definitely need a comic about Genji and Mercy!!! The comic can easily show more of their back stories as well as how the two seem to share such a close relationship with each other. It'd also be cool to see a comic showing Genji's training with Zenyatta and how he achieved inner-peace with himself.
IMO, I reckon that Jack Morrison felt guilty of being commander of Overwatch, since during the omnic crisis Reyes was the commander. That's y Jack is giving Reyes and Blackwatch a lot of levy here. I believe that was how Blackwatch was started, Jack feeling he's taking what Reyes obviously wants ( during that time of course) and so created a division where Reyes is in command and try to keep him in the loop with the rest of the overwatch original crew.
This comic brought back some questions I've always had about Genji's injury. Whatever wound(s) Hanzo dealt in their duel it was severe enough for Hanzo to think he killed him, but not bad enough to immediately finish him. It's also clear that the two fought in the main building in Hanamura, but Genji clearly got brought to some medical facility where Mercy/Overwatch found him and healed him, something Hanzo wasn't aware of. This comic shows that most of the damage he suffered was to the right side of his torso (perhaps his arm was severed) and maybe his face as well as he's covering here despite showing it to Hanzo in "Dragons" indicating that he might not need it as a breathing apparatus, his legs seem replaced/enhanced as well. This gives alittle more detail on what happened to him but still doesn't answer my other question, how did he get medical care? My best hypothesis is that after dealing the final blow Hanzo left immediately, unable to stomach what he'd done, and that whoever was left to remove Genji's body must've been one of his friends in the organization who realized he was alive and took him to a hospital.
In one of the early cinematics and at 5:14, it shows a bunch of cities that correspond with existing maps but it also shows Seattle, Washington in the U.S., Paris, France, and more. That could be potential for future maps.
McCrees shooting with the wrong hand. He used to shoot with his left hand before losing it. Also it gives a little history about Liao. He might have left before it fell. I was hoping that this comic would have shown him or tease him.
I think it's very interesting that Ana and Morrison are showing white and gray hair, but Reyes isn't. I think that might be a significant indicator of something. Genji having the Blackwatch logo and having the background of going after the Shimada clan with Overwatch makes me think the Japanese officials are complaining about that.
So, it's a 4-man PVE Event again, right? I'm looking forward to it because I still hadn't bought the game back when Junkenstein happened. On the bit where Reyes walks off after saying "I'm not the one with the statue": For me, someone who believes "nothing is pure evil", I feel that Reyes said that just to be satire. At this point, I can still feel his good side and bond with Overwatch. The part where Ana asks about McCree and he responds "Vacation?" is hilarious too. To me, he is definitely a man of humor and heroism that was misunderstood and misguided after the destruction of the OW HQ. The tone of his voice in this comic very much has the "anti-hero" vibe. One theory I read in a fanfic is that Reyes was caught and brainwashed by Talon to become Reaper, just like how Amelie was. And I want to believe in that theory. He is one that is waiting to be rescued. I believe in the humanity side of things and just kinda thinks that an evil character who laughs ha-ha while appearing from vape is not what Blizzard ONLY came up with after years of developing XD What do you think, Hammeh?
Oh dear, is it possible that Genji was caught in the explosion at Overwatch headquarters only to survive by becoming even more of a cyborg? Also, could it be that the Blackwatch activity in Japan was Genji taking down the Shimada clan?
"He did this to me ana" - gabriel refering of soldier 76 "they left me to become this thing" - blackwatch / the rest of overwatch left gabriel to die, but due to the soldier enhance programm, he didn't died, instead he turned into a powerful deformed shadow, that explains ana's reaction of seeing gabriel's face but hey, that's just a theory A GAME THEORY THANKS FOR READING MY COMMENT kill me
Based on his Blackwatch skin, it seems Hanzo eviscerated him diagonally from the right shoulder down to his left flank while Genji had his back towards him, which ties it nicely to the diagonal cut on the banner in Hanamura.
another important thing for me is that this comic is set before the ana introduction comic, the one with widoemaker. this means that that comic was even closer to overwatch dismantlement
It is good to see Reyes as the good guy again. His attitude seems... heroic, more so than Morrison's. I think it is the burden of responsibility that really weighs down Jack, while Gabriel being head of the Blackwatch gave him more opportunities to actually do something, without politics blocking the way. Ooh, I really want to see what really happened in Switzerland that fateful day. (copypasta of my own comment, kek)
"Cheers, love! Easter is here! And I'll be spending an unhealthy amount of hours trying to get that Genji skin!" All the other's look cool as well. Liking Torbjörn's Overwatch cap.
4 characters in the leaving dropship, 4 roles filled: healer, defense, attack, and tank, there were 4 heroes for junkensteins. if this doesnt guarentee a PvE event I dont know what will.
tracer, an offense character. torb, a defense character. rein, a tank. mercy, support character...... all of them going on a mission.... maybe a game mode kind of like junkinstein...?
I. literally. loved. EVERYTHING. It's the first time we see everyone working in the organization and still, when I read it, I was like 'Damn. Good old times.' even though I never saw how it was before ! This is just amazing, I love the designs of their battle suit and the grumpy Torb is just perfect ! :D
This comic actually makes me rethink what the payload is currently on King's Row. I had assumed it was an EMP because of the pulse it emits at the end (and because of Junkrat's voice line), but it bears a striking resemblance to the bomb loaded onto the drop ship in the comic. Morrison nor Torb strike me as indiscriminate mass murderers so it may just be a good old fashion bomb and it actually is intended to blow open the ceiling/floor/door in the power plant, where the enormous blue glow upon successful delivery is just the bomb going through activation before it detonates. If it's going off through an electromagnetic activator that glow may just be a dramatized visual of the electromagnetic field turning the bomb on as opposed to the usual concussive shock from a blasting cap or similar device which wouldn't be visible. That may just be idealistic thought but I guess we'll know more once the event is out.
What if the fight between Morrison and Raes was because Raes started bringing up Ana saying things like you left her to die or you could of saved her and then the major fight broke out
That'd be an amazing plot-point. Reyes tries to manipulate Jack to do what he wants him to do, and plays with his emotions at grieving for the loss of Ana, which in turn sparks a firestorm that eventually erupts into a massive fight at the HQ and then the collapse.
I wonder if we are getting an Amelia skin for WidowMaker...her gun could be her husband's rifle, and she can have special voice lines relating to his death..."Just like Gérard" or "Gérard didn't see it coming...and neither did you" when she gets a headshot
The incident in Japan is probably genji destroying the shimada Clan, which probably had influence in the Japanese gov. because they were such a large Clan.
While he should have opted to intervene by himself the comic made me feel bad for Morrison. He seems like someone defeated by too many very challenging trials in life but who wishes it was another way. Probably why he was so influenced by Tracer, reminds him of his younger self.
Hey Hammeh, I realized there's one possible skin you forgot to mention that people have been wanting forever: Blackwatch McCree. He's not the super edgy, all red and black, that everyone originally thought, but I really like it, especially the cape.
