Own a Street Triple Or Daytona? | To Save a Crash - Watch This! This Video could save you an embarrassing spill in front of the local bike meet or worse, a crash when out on the roads! I almost binned my Street Triple 675 R (at low speed) because of a bolt that had worked itself loose through vibration. This video is to raise awareness of this issue in the hope that nobody else has this happen to them.
I've posted this on the Triumph Street Triple 675 and 765 Fanatics Page (on Facebook) and plenty of others have had this same issue! One guy who had this same problem crashed on a hairpin when on the road because of this problem, one guy crashed on track, another dropped his bike at a petrol station . A few of the members checked their bolts and found them to be loose and ready cause the same issue for them. There are more stories on the thread if you join the page the post was dated 10th October.
Please do check your steering before every ride and check these bolts as soon as you can as the consequences could be pretty dyer!
Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe for more content!

Strange how the bolts backed out. These are notorious for having high strength lock tight that can only be broken loose with heat, they tend to shear if you don't. I was surprised at how easily you undid them! And as for tightening them the torque spec is 7nm, be careful as the aluminium thread in the frame could strip

Yeah man exactly what I thought, maybe the mechanic loosened them when doing my head bearing and valve service and didn’t thread lock them? Hope I didn’t over tighten them 😳

Nice heads up 👍 I owned a 2014 street triple R for 7 years same colours as yours noticed it was close but never came lose . I now have a 2015 Daytona mostly for track . will Check not as easy to see behind the fairing . I have a ktm Super duke mostly for road and touring . but still love the triple 675 or the new 765 more would sell the duke before the Daytona .

Another person to add to the list! Seems a bit of a faux pas from triumph designing them like this IMO, considering the potential consequences. Glad you kept the bike shiny side up. Same to you mate, ride safe! P.s Fair bit of street triple and other bike content coming up so please do subscribe if you haven’t already :)

So has anyone encountered this issue yet or just me? Watching this back I’ve been thinking thank god for the Bike and Silver car that forced me to slow down at that turn, recon I would have ended up launching the bike at the scenery otherwise! Haha. Happy (and safe) riding everyone!

Had a crash with a gen 1. I always tought i was surprised by the corner and panicked by braking hard and going straight. I faintly remember thinking "shed didn't want to turn". Now i'll never know if it was me or her...

@@sweet-triple-UK Like i said, i'll never know. It was months ago and went to a Triumph dealer for a full check up. He had to completely put the front fork straight after the crash. So if it was that, it probably was fixed by him without even noticing it. It was the only time i was surprised by her behavior but it might be me, not paying attention (group ride). I'm on GSX-S1000 now. I prefer the 4 inline but i miss her handling so much...

Better than the issue I have had with my 2024 Street Triple. My front left caliper burned up the rotor causing my brakes to completely fail on a ride. They refused the caliper replacement and said its fine. Now the new rotor is showing signs of warping and bending after 400 miles. Took way too much time to get this safety issue fixed. It just seems they have quality issues on some bikes and it sucks to have to deal with. Finally have a new caliper coming soon BUT my bike has been at the dealer for over 2 months soon to be 3 since purchasing in August of 2023.
@sweet-triple-UK
@sweet-triple-UK 7 месяцев назад
Ah man that sucks. It really baffles me when dealers don’t sort stuff like this pronto, especially when it’s a safety related component like breaks. I’d be going pretty mental at them if I were you, not gonna lie. You could ask for a full refund as bike isn’t fit for purpose?
@BlackCatChronicals
@BlackCatChronicals 7 месяцев назад
@@sweet-triple-UK I have been on them and I was finally able to make them push the caliper replacement through with Triumph. Unfortunately in the US I don't completely qualify for a Lemon law buyback. Even if you have a bad time with a bike here dealers will do everything to not swap a bike or help unless they're legally in the wrong it seems.

Thanks mate, appreciated I’ll drop you a sub back. Yeah was a pretty damn scary thing, I’ve heard from loads of other ST riders that this has happened to them too! Defo worth checking there’s not something similar going on other types of bikes too and doing general checks. What you riding buddy?

Red locktite needs 260°C heat to release. Fair play if you're never taking them off. I'd use blue and keep an eye on them. I wouldn't fancy hitting there with a blowtorch. Thats just me though. Good job. 👍
@sweet-triple-UK
@sweet-triple-UK 9 месяцев назад
Yeah, I realised that after doing it. Triumph use Red so thought I’d do the same. I’m planning on replacing all the bolts, so will have to buy new rubber clamp and try not to blast the cables…. Wish me luck!

Weird one had three different models of triple since the 2000 model 955 through to a 2012 triple never had that on any of them.! Good spot though 👍👍👍

Had the exact same thing happen on my 2014, got super lucky I noticed it as I was pulling into a parking lot. Got home and pulled all of them, added blue loctite and re-tightened.
@sweet-triple-UK
@sweet-triple-UK 7 месяцев назад
Yeah I think I may have made a mistake using red loctite to be honest, especially on the bent bolt. Going to try and remove them at some point and re install new bolts

I believe so, it was a recall a while ago, now they loctite them when servicing. But still bit of a bad design.

I think it tends to be after they have been loosened for maintenance and the mechanic hasn’t loctited them again.
