Welcome to Sweet Triple, a Moto Vlog Channel dedicated to everything motorcycles. The theme of the Channel is loosely based around my Triumph Street Triple 675 R.
I film most of my rides and fill my time by talking to you guys as I ride! When I get the time to edit the footage I'll share my rides and adventures with you all.
Luckily, I have some great dealerships near me and they are occasionally mad enough to let me loose on their new machines. From this channel you can expect first impression videos of some of the latest machines.
The channel will also provide the occasional gear review of kit I’ve bought myself and have done the research on. I'm excited to share my thoughts on everything I do with motorcycles on my journey to find the best bikes, tyres, kit, peppered with some rambling commentary on my day to day life.
Whether you're an avid motorcyclist, new to the game, thinking about getting on a bike or just love watching Moto Vlogs I'm hoping you'll enjoy the ride!
I have the premium version, but I only get a map and directional arrows. Is there a setting I'm missing that allows the maps to have street names and the app to operate like a proper map app while navigating/riding? Cheers.
Oh strange, I'm looking at the app now and when planning a route I can see road names. Not sure about when navigating though. (Will test it next time I'm out and about) Best bet is to contact their customer service team (I am no expert just liked the app so made a video about it)
It’s awful. The kerbs are jagged tiles rather than smooth, the track was ruined by putting Edwina’s in to slow down the lake esses and the bus stop is a joke. EMRA is a joke for letting experienced ACU holders continue wearing novice bibs. Try Donington National instead.
Ah man, I hear a lot of people saying this. I guess I never experienced it the other way so wouldn’t know the difference. I understand your point about the kerbs. Went over the bus stop kerbs as you’d kind of expect to and almost spat me off the bike!
I'm concerned with volume levels. Is the Serket much louder than the OEM exhaust? I was going to get the Competition Werks but heard that it's too loud based on other people's experiences. Same thing with SC Project exhausts - too loud.
The Serket is noticeably louder than the stock exhaust, but I wouldn’t say it is too loud. The SC is apparently much louder than the Serket. I’m not too sure about Competition Werks but I’ve heard they are loud! The only time it’s been a bit droney is on very long rides that I do about once a year when I go on the annual tour but I wear ear plugs anyway and would recommend anyone riding a motorbike do the same (Auritech are my favourite and cheapish). General riding it just improves the exhaust note and turned it up a few notches in volume. Haven’t tried it with the baffle out yet mind.
Looked an amazing day! Did my first Road car track day at Mallory in the then brand new Focus 2nd Gen & Lotus 211, would love to spin my street triple up around Mallory! 😄
Glad your problem is solved! For future viewers having a similar issue I would like to comment my experience with hot start issues on my 2014 Street triple R, as ive had 2 different issues: - When your bike cranks fine when hot, but is not happy to start without applying throttle, it could be the reed valves of the SAI system. I deleted mine and the issue went away. - If your bike cranks rather slow or doesn’t crank at all (only a clicking relay), and you’re sure the battery and charging system are not faulty, the problem is most likely the starter motor. These Denso starters all seem to start to fail at around 30-35k miles. The issue is more well know on the Tiger 800 (same engine), as they make more miles usually. The starter will ask for more and more current as it wears and at a certain point it’s too much for the battery when starting hot. To add to this last point, changing the battery can mask the underlaying issue of a slowly failing starter because it can deliver more current. I changed the battery and the issue came back after 4 months. Hopefully it won’t be the same for you but at least you know where to look ;)
Thanks for watching and for some really useful nuggets of information there. I will defo keep an eye on the starter motor if the issue persists. I also wonder if our generation also suffer with the reg/rec issues of old. I’ve heard some say that triumph fixed this issue in the newer model 675s (2014-16) but also some saying that they are all the same!
@@sweet-triple-UK yeah the R/R was such a weakness on the earlier models. It was mounted towards the rear of the engine and the heat would eventually fry it. The unregulated current would cook the wiring and connectors and eventually killed the stator, a pretty costly affair. They changed the R/R and it’s bracket I believe in 2013 so that it’s facing towards the rear wheel, in a cooler spot. They very rarely go bad on the new design as far as I’m aware!
@@SanderG97 Ahhh that's great to know - you have a lot of knowledge on the STR 675 it seems. I'd benefit greatly from picking your brains in the future I'm sure!
Ugh, having same issue with a high mileage daytona (80kkm), new battery, valve check, throttle balance, tried couple different maps, adjusted ISCV, injector cleaner, tested CPS and RR. All seems good, but still won't start like it used to. I was hoping it wasn't the starter motor, but time to go look for one, thanks. Not as easy to get parts in canada haha.
@@simac13 Yeah, tbh my issue is creeping back after making this video, just like @SanderG97 said (thanks sander) I'm going to be fitting a new starter motor soon.
@@sweet-triple-UK ok cool thanks I’m not that far from London but never go there especially on my bike hopefully heading to the bike shed Saturday if the weather is half decent
They are quite unique, they have the torquey mid range of the twin and a little bit of the top end rush of the 4 cylinder too, so best of both worlds IMO or maybe a “compromise” of both? They also sound awesome, nothing hits the exhaust notes like a triple! I actually keep that electrical tape under the seat permanently, never know when it will come in handy. Thanks for watching mate, what do you ride?
If you go to 6:05 you will see that the bike is very lazy when starting and sounds like it doesn't want to start (sounds a bit rough on starting). This is because the battery is old and has a slightly low voltage. This only happens when the bike is hot for some reason, it started fine when the bike was cold! Let me know if you have any other questions man, thanks for watching!
Nice man, I imagine it’s likely because it’s the OG battery in there that’s never been changed and although I have an optimiser I have never bothered plugging it in. I’ll learn from that mistake 😂. How much lighter are the lithium batteries? Is it noticeable?
Ah nice man, I did consider lithium but was told they don’t last as long and are more finnecky to the cold. Did you ever do your track day? I’m doing Donnington on the 6th May if you fancy it?
@@calvinhall4878 ooh that sounds interesting. How do I book on to that? Might be a bit tricky as we’re expecting our first child in June! Will try and make it if I can.
I'm glad I got this long running issue sorted on my 675, let me know if you've experienced this issue, or if you enjoyed the video in the comments below.
I put a lithium battery in a 2014 street triple was in for 7 years until I sold the bike just started to lose its charge quicker . Got a lithium in my 2015 Daytona been on . I think the street up to 2013 had regular problems. The Daytona had a recall as the regular used to over heat in side the fairing not enough air flow .
Lithiums are decent, I did consider one but was told lead are good for longevity, unless your racing etc. Yeah they were recalled, and I think they still have gremlins in the newer “fixed” models. What bike do you have mate? Thanks for watching.
@@sweet-triple-UK I have a KTM Suoer duke it was MSN long termer so came with panniers etc . Used it for touring . Taken it on track once . Bought a Daytona to replace the street triple as started using the street in track . it’s very good but a better road bike missed the top end . The idea was to use the Daytona on road too but not a great road bike better on track . Then the ktm came up for sake with all the bells and whistles. So my back account took a hammer . One bike will have to go but can’t decide both good in different ways . How long you had your street triple , it’s the right balance for the road . 675 triple is one of the best engines ,
I’ve had the Street Triple for 4 years now, and it’s been a dream TBF, only had this issue with it, and apart from that it’s been tight as a drum. Done plenty of tours and track days on it. Got Donnington booked for the 6th May. KTM SDR - you lucky boy! Is there any option to keep both and just put it down to being a “collector”?
@@sweet-triple-UK to be honest it’s wasted untapped power on the roads .I didn’t read your question properly. Daytona has already started to become a collectible more so now mid sport bikes apart from like the cbr600 not made anymore But that’s more very low mileage examples.
Nice man, I wouldn’t be too bothered about putting miles on them. That’s what they are there for! Yeah I hear the SDR is a monster! Doing a test ride on one soon!
2 obvious issues with the 1200RS for me - if you're over 6 foot you look like you're on a Street Triple as the 1200 is tiny in real life! and they look pretty hedious without the front dash cowl. We have a couple of 1200RS videos coming on the channel soon, if anyone is interested in my thoughts 😁
Hey @Budget-Cars-And-Bikes, I think Mark will be fine on the Speed as he’s 5,9” on a good day 😂 I agree, not a lot of bikes look / feel big when your over 6ft. Everything looks and feels small to me (except GS etc) being 6ft2 and on a Street Triple does get cramped. On the looks front, I think they look great without the dash cowl I like the little plastic eyebrows they’ve added as standard, but I guess looks are subjective. Thanks for watching, will keep an eye on your channel for the Speed Video when it comes out!
i'll be 50 this year, started doing Lego around the height of the coronavirus thing, plus i had my own gremlin to deal with, still am in a way, its very therapeutic to build lego sets, except for my wallet....
Thanks for watching @markorollo you know I was really shocked at how expensive some of the Lego sets are, I thought they were toys for kids, some of the Star Wars stuff was like over £700 (The Imperial Walker)!!! Expensive hobby and so are motorbikes... I'm doomed! Hope your days have got a little bit brighter matey!
@@sweet-triple-UK yeah that and the millennium falcon set, plus bigger harry potter sets, i can only dream lol. thanks, getting better as a reason for said gremlin may have presented itself :)
I unfortunately live in an area where there are almost no twisty roads. The entire state is a grid. Unfortunately this means that when you ask Calimoto to plan a nice twisty route, all it does is to plot a route where I'm driving around blocks for 2 hours.
Haha good to meet you too Harvey! You know what, I don’t know why I said Tangfastics, it’s close but Starmix would actually be my favourite, was just in a tangy mood that day. Cheers mate, hopefully see you soon !
What an awesome day and thanks to Harvey and Guy for inviting me on the ride. Harvey hasn't yet revealed his face online hence why I've blurred him out. I believe there might be a face reveal to come in the near future, so keep an eye out on his channel and Instagram! If you have any questions or just fancy a chat, please drop a comment below!
I set off around 4.30pm from the Excel Centre in London, just as it started to get dark, the ride home through Oxford was dark, raining heavily and loads of standing water, I aquaplaned a couple of times 😳 I'm very glad that at the last minute I changed my tinted visor to clear, as I believe it would not have been possible to get home otherwise...... Lesson learned to ALWAYS consider if I'll be caught out and riding in the dark when selecting a visor for the day! @snappycattimesten, the food was incredible, all hot and the sausage, bacon and beans were the highlight for me, coffee was nice too. I would highly recommend a visit if you are ever passing the area. Crime gang haha I know we look badass 😂, but I sincerely hope not! I'm hoping we just looked like a bunch of dudes enjoying our bikes, and I think lots of friendly bikers frequent that area of London because of The Bike Shed so will be a familiar sight around there. I remember you saying in a previous video you are from Australia! Are there any decent biker cafes near to you? You are more than welcome, I'm always keen to share my experiences, thanks for stopping by, let me know what you want to see on the channel next!
Thanks Snappy! I’ve been thinking for a while that when I get to retirement age - a long way off, I’d like to open my own Biker Cafe, with a load of custom bikes on display. Gives me an excuse to buy a collection of bikes over the next 20-30 years!
Bike cleaning video ? You must be best mates with Bikerevs lol. He really is the king of misinformed ,pointless content. TBH Yours does seem better from what I’ve seen.
@@sweet-triple-UKthought your track day one was really good, done a few over my 44years of motorcycling. Keep your content interesting and relative and hopefully your channel will grow. 👍
It just means a short look at the bikes so yeah sorry this is it. I guess the title may be a little misleading not intentional though mate. I will be reviewing some of these bikes this year especially the new BMW GS and KTM within the next 3 months! Thanks for watching. P.s I’d recommend having a look at That Biker Simons video of the show if you want a bit more detail, his video is a little more comprehensive 👍
There is also reviews of the new street and speed triple on my channel along with the new Honda hornet if any of those are on your wish list! Out of interest, what bikes are you interested in, I could try and make a review especially for you bro?👊
Yep 100% that is why. You can also use a little arm bracket to get the angle right they look like 4 or 5 separate links and a GoPro mount, cheap as chips on eBay and probably the better option, but couldn’t find mine the other day when I filmed this.
I think the trip to bike shed was probably more interesting and definitely better value. The show looked very poor for the money. It was crap when I went years ago. London should be able to do much better!
Haha thanks for watching man, I totally agree, just couldn’t help myself and had to get eyes on some of the exciting bikes that have come out recently. I went to the MCN Motorcycle Live at the NEC Birmingham in 2022, much better show IMO!
Yeah I agree, it just shows how much the bike industry is in decline. It’s probably going to get worse moving closer to the ICE ban if it happens! The Allan Millyard stand was cool wasn’t it! I was there on the Saturday too, and it was like sardines, trying to get footage here and there. I felt sorry for some of the bikes too, some people clambering on them with so much disrespect! Especially the R1M. No matter whether it’s a show bike or not it try and get on carefully without dragging my shoes across paintwork and the seat.
Yea the Yam is quite something, 80s nostalgia, with the styling and Marlborough esque colour scheme! I did throw my leg over the Daytona. Felt a little bit like sitting on the CBR650R similar geometry.
I would’ve loved to go there but too much work on! 😅 Looked like you had a great day, especially with the Bike Shed visit! Not been there yet but definitely get over there this summer!
It was a great day at the motorcycle show London, let me know if you have any questions on the bikes and I'll do my best to answer them all. Thanks to @harveyridesbikes and @iamguymarkham for inviting me to ride with you!
Hi. Cheers for the content. Hope your channel grows at a decent rate. Do you have the premium subscription for calimoto? I'm curious if it shows any speed camera warnings or info
No problem mate. I’m really hoping the channel grows too, so please consider subscribing (if you haven’t already). Yes I have a premium subscription annually. However if you just want to dip in and out I believe you can buy a week at a time to make it cheaper. Following this video CaliMoto has introduced speed limit indicators on the app which is a great addition and yes speed camera warnings have always been a feature. However I don’t trust speed camera warnings as “foolhardy” and best to keep an eye out for signage as the vans can pop up anywhere in the UK. Thanks for watching!
after watching your vid, first time with jetwasher today, as so many differing opinions on them lol. i used clear water, then snow foam, then rinsed, and was surprised just how clean it came up (even the wheels) before using a microfibre glove to get the heavier stuff off, but there wasn't too much to worry about. imho as long as you dont pressurise the water too much and dont point it anywhere obviously silly it's no problem. I have a variable adjustment on my karcher nozzle so lowish pressure is good. TX
Mate totally agreed, there are so many purists that are like "that will wash the grease out of your bearings" 🥸but if you lower the pressure, and back off a bit of distance between the jetwash lance and the bike, it's no more powerful than a garden hose anyway. I just use a bit of common sense with it, as do you! Glad you enjoyed the video mate. Enjoy your nice clean bike, and don't forget to subscribe for more bike related content! Currently editing my Spain tour! Having some issues with Audio though 😩
