During horizontal movement, the chain can bind or misalign within the hoist, leading to inefficiency, potential damage, and even lift failure. • Load Sway and Instability: When a load is lifted horizontally with a chain hoist, it's prone to swaying and instability. This can be dangerous for personnel and equipment in the vicinity. The hoist's structure and braking system may not be designed to handle the additional lateral stress of a swinging load. • Safety Regulations: Many safety regulations and industry best practices discourage using chain hoists for horizontal lifting.
