Finally, I was able to test the Ozone Alpina 4 in Engelberg, Switzerland. I already placed my order for my next paraglider, the Ozone Alpina 4. I really did enjoy the Ozone Delta 4 which I already flew (see my video for that). Thermals were quite absent, from where we launched, so flight were short, but was good to test the wings handling in wing overs, pull some collapses and see if the big ears were really that unstable. Once I receive my wing, I intend to do a more in-depth review or first impressions of the wing, but without proper, active air, this did not feel appropriate to me.
Launching was super easy, with slight tail wind, reverse launching was easy, but you need to give the wing some time to catch up with you before accelerating.

Nice, I can't wait to unwrapp my A4. I have ordered it already in November and I am slowly getting impatient as a child:) Häpppieehh Lähndings.

Hi this is the setup I'm considering, I'm really interested in a comparison of the 2 harnesses with this wing, if you could tell me what you think. Or a comparison of the two harnesses would be great, thanks.

Hi Nick, in that video I tested the Lightness 3, normally I fly the Lightness 2. The L3 is more comfortable, rocks less and is calmer. It is more comfortable and certainly will appeal to more pilots. However, it lacks some agility which you notice in high wing overs as your weight shift input is much less pronounced (still works great though, as you can see!) and the feedback from the wing is more dampened. As the A4 is already much more dampened than the A3, all that dampening is becoming a bit too much for my taste. So, I am still looking for a new harness with great agility, lots of feedback and ideally more protection, but will need to make a lot of compromises when it comes to weight but haven't flown anything yet that really fits the niche I am looking at. The Impress might be an option, though...

Nein, ist die 7 Black in Superview und dann einfach versucht die Krümmung im Post zu korrigieren, was ja nicht wirklich gut geht, deshalb sind die Ecken gerne mal etwas verzerrt 🙄

Schöne Sache, wie lange fliegst du denn schon und wie sahen deine Schritte vom A bis zum C Schirm aus?

Ich fliege jetzt seit 8 Jahren. zwischen meinem Schulschirm Alpha 5 und dem Alpina 3, der mein erster C war, liegen zwei Saisons mit dem Advance Iota und jährlich über 100 Stunden in den Alpen und fast jährlich SiKus. Für jeden Piloten wir der Weg aber anders aussehen. Ich finde es wichtig, viel Zeit in anspruchsvollen Bedingungen zu verbringen und die Aneignung der technischen Fähigkeiten in Sicherheitstrainings. Dort lernst du dann nicht nur wie dein Schirm sich bei Störungen verhält, wie man ihn "rettet", sondern auch wie du dich in Stressituationen verhältst.

@@HendrikParagliding Interessant, bin auch mit dem Alpha6 vor vier Jahren gestartet - habe lange mit dem Epsilon so manche bockige Thermik im Engadin gemeistert (zuletzt auch mehr als 100 Flugstunden). Nun bin ich im Winter erst auf den Iota GLS hochgegangen. Du hast gleich den Sprung auf den Iota gemacht? Aber auf höherklassifiziert als den Alpina willst du nicht gehen?

Of course it's easy to start with, as are all new wings in this class. It wouldn't have been released otherwise

I know there is a lot of discussion around the launch behavior online. And yes, it can be launched easily, both in high and low winds, backwards and forwards. But it is significantly more challenging than with the A3 and requires a bit of an adjusted technique. For example, if you run into the wing too fast it will not catch up with you, so after the initial pull up, you need to slow down or pause until the wing is above you before you continue accelerating. Unfortunately I accidentally did not have my GoPro running during my forward launch, otherwise I would have uploaded a separate video. But might do that once I receive my own wing.
