I stopped installing customer supplies parts a long time ago. Then somehow I got roped into doing it again and I regretted it BIGTIME!! I really won’t do that anymore. There are way too many people, “RU-vid mechanics” that don’t know wtf is going on. Good video

Got your back on that one…You are truly a good mechanic in my opinion. Truthful, Honest, and knowledgeable….Been a mechanic for years, had a large clientele. Now just hate doing the tuff jobs…Thanks for the video…

I’ve been having this very same issue for about a year and it came suddenly with my 2015 Kia Forte EX which has a 2.0 engine. Now my car only has 64k miles on it. Kia had my vehicle for months and said it was an oil issue and that I needed to get the engine replaced. I gave them all of the records for my oil changes so that didn’t make sense to me. Then they said it wasn’t covered under warranty because I am the second owner of the vehicle and I would have to pay out of pocket almost $10,000. I tried going through Kia corporate to see if they would good will it and they denied me 3 times. Sad part is I’m still making payments on this vehicle and I can’t even use it.
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 4 года назад
Thats a common scenario... Stuck in payments! Try finding an engine off line, like rockauto.com or a local part store, so you'll get a 3yr manufacture warrenty. I quoted my customer around $6-7k for parts and labor, and I hear my prices are high here 😆. Im sure you can find a reputable shop to take care of you cheaper than dealer.

customhonda yea I’ve been quoted the same where I’m located as well but I wouldn’t know if that’s expensive or not lol.

Kia and Ford are horrible and they make unreliable vehicles. Most of the stearlerships are incompetent and unethical. Toyota is much better.

I read a few forums stating this gdi engine has a recall due to many of these engines having this exact issue with excessive metal debris caused from an assembly error.
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 2 года назад
Allegedly... Ive been trying to get some customers to have their oil pan cleaned well before this happens. I been trying capture a visual before the engine fails but, customers never go through preventable measure and when they call me, it's too late. Simply put, on a working engine, is their metal in the pan? And can that be cleaned out. You'd imagine if this was the case, dealer would simply clean all oil pans vs replacing entire engine
@SmoothBrain23
@SmoothBrain23 2 года назад
@@partsshooter yes, you would think 🤔 but this is land of the greed. Those dealerships don't want to waste their time and their tech's time even though the cost of the engines and some labor would be covered by the manufacturer for the recall. I gotta say, from one business owner to the next, you stated in the beginning of the video perfectly what I've dealt with on many occasions with vehicle repairs and the customers. They would rather skip a professional diagnosis and listen to what auto parts store employees tell them. Lol the fact that they believe these people who work 40+ hours a week behind the counter selling parts know just as much or more than the person trained and qualified to repair vehicles legally by the state or states they reside. I tell my customers, would you go to the hospital and let the office clerk diagnose you and tell you what's going on with your body or would you rather the doctor do it?
@partsshooter
@partsshooter 2 года назад
@@SmoothBrain23 cal me a holistic doctor because I'm not certified😂😂. But I completely understand you comparison. You got me thinking, the situation with the dealership maybe "out of sight, out of mind" you're issue. I mean, it's not a "safety"matter, they have a programming bulletin for a fail safe but this definitely isn't a fix!

2011 Kia Sorento 2.4L Theta engine throwing P0340, P0335, P0304. Cleaned all sensors related, Ohms test, checked wiring harnesses and connectors all check out fine and within spec. Spark plugs new, coils are within spec, are Replaced starter which was faulty, and alternator as well. Codes will not clear. Car cranks but will not turn over. Has spark and fuel. Oil has been changed regularly, no metal shavings in oil. VVT/OCV solenoids check out fine and are within spec. I’m ready to torch this car. Any suggestions?
@partsshooter

Likely have a crank cam correlation issue... They're out of sync and causing misfire to register, is what it seems. Timing could've jump, could be a bad crank sensor/cam sensor. If it sound weird starting up, need to perform a compression test or Leakdown test to determine engine health.

dealing with the same shit right now but on a Hyundai Sonata. customer stated that he needed to replace an alternator and starter. I ask him how he knows that? he said because the starter wasn't turning over the engine and his car kept shutting off on him. he had bought the parts and tried to do it himself. realized the starter on those cars are not that easy to replace (u gotta either get under the car and work from underneath which is the best method or u gotta take off intake manifold). he didn't have a jack so it was gonna be the intake manifold method which he stopped doing the minute he stripped a bolt. so I get my A** over there thinking im just gonna collect. nope! put both starter and alternator on and car would not turn on. diagnosed the shit out of it and found the problem to be bad ground wire and terrible cheap/painted battery terminals that the customer had put on himself. did that shit and the car started up and drove fantastically. everything was good. I did an oil change on the car as well cause the car barley had any oil. and the guy admitted to me that he procrastinated on his oil change. I told that college kid not to cheap out on the oil change as the lack oil change maintenance is a car killer. I even showed him videos of what can happen. fast forward 5 months later (today) and he comes in with the p0014 code. he tells me he tried to replace the exhaust valve because he went to auto zone, scanned the car and he looked up online that a common repair is to replace the solenoid. he did that himself but the code was still coming up. I asked for the old valve and he brought it to me. look like absolute sh*t. I took off the intake valve as well and it was even worse. sludge every where. looked like a kinder Gartner put poured fresh Elmers glue on both solenoids. I cleaned both solenoid and ran a test with some jumper cables and a battery. both solenoids somehow still work (clicking) so no amount of replacing either was going to help the situation (parts cannon fail). I tested the connectors that attach to the solinods(fine). I tested the camshaft position sensors just in case. both sensors were at the right voltage and both dropped to 0 after a piece of metal was put next to them. so now I had to ask for extra diag time cause now I had to take off the valve cover and inspect the camshaft itself. when I took the valvcover off I could barley even see the camshaft as it was buried in a turd of sludge. I asked him how long it had been since my oil change. he stated that I was the last person to do the oil change. I looked at my records to see when I had done the last oil change. car had oil change done at 80k miles. car now has 130,000 miles (and the guy does uber). my plan was to lift the engine so I could inspect the camshaft itself and then get access to the timing chain so I can check the timing and go from there. nope! no way in he** am I gonna do that now. I am amazed that this car still works and p0014 is the only code it has. ive seen engines like this knock like crazy. the fact that it docent or hasn't seized up is amazing to me. I get it! ur either a broke college student or u just hate running maintenance on ur vehicle. But guess what, machines don't care. they need their oils and maintenance. if ur not willing to do it one day they simply stop working. Im betting that time will be this cars next oil change. but trust me, it won't be me who does it.

I would run really powerful engine sludge cleaners and replace the oil and filter multiple times until the engine is clean. Worked for me.

My Kia Soul 2015 have a funny sound. Not excessive noise like that but my high pressure fuel regulator makes a funny noise. My oil does not lost long. No metal particles on oil. I use 5-20 oil. Should l use a 5-30 oil? What's the price for a new 1.6 motor in the U.S.? I got those same codes. I now only get the upstream sensor code and l will replace it and hopefully that weird diesel volkswagen engine sound comes off my Kia Soul.

I have a similar issue with a different car with similar system. Car popped 2 codes about a week after an oil change and limited driving (100 miles) codes were p0011 and p0014 both for timing advanced. Car is a mitsubishi outlander sport 2012 with 70k miles on it. Started popping and banging and shut off. Had it towed to the garage and was told it needed a new motor as well. Is there any saving it? I do. Ot have metal shaving but Car do not crank.

Heavier weight can be of some assistance only if, there's excessive clearence issues causing p0014. However theres multitude of factors that cause this code. But this code is likely related to oil control valve, timing chain, trigger wheel or sensor.
