Under car settings I have a power steering adjuster (low - medium - high). You can change between them when the car is stopped and it makes a world of difference. Mine was set on high and it felt very stiff, i set it on low and the steering is so light now, I love it. Oh, and it automatically stiffens a little at high speeds, it's brilliant.
@@vbnautical5041 I think higher would give you a more engaging drive and less vagueness though the steering wheel. I don’t think I have this feature ☹️
The one thing that drives me nuts about mine is the climate control temperature setting. The driver side should control both sides unless the passengers weight is detected or more simply if the passenger decides to adjust the temp differently than the driver. So basically if I am by myself I need to change the temperature on both dials to get them in sync. Any fix for that? Haha
Glad you said this because I was sure I was just missing something. At this point I'm so used to doing one, then the other, so not a huge deal but very strange that they designed it like this
You're a star 🥳 I didn't know about the additional FM menu. It's been bugging the life out of me that I couldn't find an 'AF' function for the radio. I was having to manually re-tune it every time it lost the reception.
Hello, Kiddo, it’s me again - I’ve practically watch you grow into the Volvo guru that you are today starting with the very first P2 estate that you derped around in your early videos. LOL! Anyway, I’ve got an unusual request, if you’re interested. And this concerns a P3’s center “waterfall” climate control panel - notice that nearly all surviving ones have peeling, silver laminated ‘sitting man’ buttons for the fan’s manual, directional flow? You know which three sitting man-shaped buttons that I’m talking about? The peeling factory material on it looks like it’s some kind of metallic Mylar wrappings on the head, torso, and legs of a sitting man shaped buttons, now - I wonder if those three buttons can be removed and dipped into some kind of water dipped film wrap, not unlike the overused ones that are almost always the favorite method to cover everything with fake carbon fiber pattern… Y’See where I’m getting at? So instead of reshaping small flat sheets of Mylar silver stickers to refurbish those three odd buttons, do you know of a thin, silver, water transfer sheets that would wrap the buttons but are translucent enough to allow backlighting as though factory? Hmmmm… I can’t find any such solution on eBay but you with your growing base might find some Volvo nutter out there who has this solution but too shy to market them. There’s gotta be one other bloke out there who’s tire of looking at the cracking silver buttons on the ‘waterfall’ panel. Cheers!
Sound system stopped working on my 2008 Volvo c70. Any idea on where in the cem I should check to make sure everything there is working? All the fuses are good
Its funny, I have an S80 D5 twin turbo executive and my parner has a V70 T6 AWD. On the face of it both displays look the same, but there are menu differences, her car has steering settings, mine has units of measurements settings for temperature and units for trip computer. These are not shared between cars. I swapped the heads over to see if these settings could be altered in each car and they can't, the screen goes blank when an incompatible setting is selected.
The USB works with a usb drive that has music loaded onto it. I use my usb all the time. You have to make sure the usb is formatted to whatever format the Volvo needs, then put music tracks on it
@@drivelife.channel I've been looking at these. I've currently got the 2007 P2 version, with the 6 disc player and awesome sound. But these don't seem to have a 6 disc player, or not all do, I've also seen some listings say the car has "4x40w amp and 8 speakers" and others have a more powerful amp and sub. I love the sound in my P2, and the 6 disc player. What are the systems in these actually like? Surely they're at least as good as in the P2?
@@stevehoulihan726 the 6 disk changer was an add-on accessory for the middle and top-teir sound systems for the pre-facelift s80II, all sounds quite good, but the top one is very good, volvo's have always had really good systems
I’m not too sure if I’m late to the party haha but I do have a question. I want to use the aux mode option with a wire that connects with the aux input into the car and the other end with the charging port of my phone (iPhone 11) I’m wondering if the aux mode would still work? Since the usb no longer works for my phone (:
Why doesn’t anyone talk about the ridiculous numeric keypad? I need to know what that is about. In a Bluetooth world, it’s really weird. Might as well attach a rotary phone to the dash
Hi mate. Thanks for this - very informative. Do you know how to get into the deep tissue settings which would allow me to change the language? In this case from Japanese to English.
i have just done this to my self imported '12 V60. Press the MYCAR button, scroll down to the bottom option( Settings) and press OK button, scroll down to the 3rd option(System Options) and press OK button.. now you should be able to read the Language option(written in English) which you scroll to the 4th option down press OK now you'll see the English lang. option press OK and done. Hope this is clear enough and helps, as the menu order is the same on Jap and English MYCAR. ie 4th downOK, 3rd down OK, 4th down OK- 1st option(English) OK
Hi, any ideas on faults with these systems, I'm new to volvo and only had my v70 a week, today I've turned the stereo on and it's gone through the boot up with the high performance sound image but then nothing! No sound, no controls as though it'd not turned on?
I do like the video. One thing I have now is that my iPhone 12 will not pair with the car. Apple advised the bluetooth software version is out of date. How do we upgrade the software - is that possible? My V70 is a 2010 model, or is there a radio update replacement that can be used
What do you use to clean your dash?Love my Volvo p3’s simple but classy interior. Can the power steering sensitivity be adjusted on a 08 v70 d5?Find mine heavy when parking.
Hi Richard, I normally juts use a microfiber cloth as it is mostly dust! unfortunately it can't be adjusted as they are all like that, you could look at an upgraded power steering pump?
Could you do a tutorial on the Volvo SatNav system please ? The heavyweight handbook is so detailed as to be totally confusing and seriously unhelpful !
No question is a dumb question! P3 is the generation of car, you car is a P3:) its Volvos 3rd generation of their large car platform 2007 - 2015 (V70, S80, XC70, V60, S60, XC60) the generation before was the P2 generation and the most recent is called the CMA platform buts that's a whole different ball game 🤣
@@drivelife.channel thanks for a quick reply. Do you happen to know if it's standard equipment for cars with this radio? Or at least 2008 and 2009 models (which are the years I look at the most)
Hi, you'll need to find someone with VIDA software and plug it into the OBD2 socket. If they have an account with D5T5 it can be easily changed. However to change the Speedo from kmh to mph you'll need to change the instrument binnacle.
My infotainment system lacks phone function; does anybody know if l can simply swapt the module to get basic phone functionality? I guess there should be a micro somewhere for hands off phone use.... thanks!
I got a little bluetooth adapter that gets power under the arm rest USB and plugs into the Aux input. Bluetooth music from phone sounds great that way.
@@vbnautical5041 yes, please! What do you use? I use a cheap Bluetooth/FM system with used FM band for sound but with a lot of static as the airwaves are pretty congested here
@@glmm2001 i thought I replied to this but looks like my reply is gone. Go on Amazon or into Best Buy and type in Bluetooth Adapter and get the one that plugs into a headphone jack. Mine is crystal clear with Iphone.
