P47 vs P51: How to Win a Defensive Dogfight (War Thunder)

Any pilots in the same situation, against the worst P51 in the entire game, in a match of ground rb, while in the second best P47, on nearly equal energy, even with an energy disadvantage, with at least half a working brain would have won that. Just the fact that you wrote this comment I could already tell you're on those WT players that grinds for hours and doesn't unlock anything, and completely broke on SL.

True I use a 3.0 to fight 5.0’s sometimes and still win dogfights

If I had to guess, he probably expected me to try and run, then started to panic when I began turning with him.

He gave him so many chances to shoot him. Kept flying into his guns until he finally got shot.

This guy (the uploader) overuse his flaps during the scissors merge while it's clear that the p-51 had alot of more energy so this p-47 would not be overshooting and it makes him bleed a lot of speed that result of not being able to even turn properly.. See the problem about using ur flaps is that it's gonna make your wing bigger to sort of lift up ur plane cuz flaps drag the airflow therefore you can turn tighter (so it makes ur lift/elevator higher). But that's happend if you actually got any airflow to work with. The problem here is if someone overuse his flaps, then bcuz of its drag, its gonna make your plane bleed lot of speed that makes there is no more sufficient airflow to lift up ur planes so now you can't even turn bcuz basically there is no more airflow (since you're going slow enough so the reduce airflow for ur plane to lift). That's why with a flaps down your plane can pitch easy and fast and the most importantly is to turn tighter. And to make even worse the p-51 pilot manage to throw off the game by giving this p-47 a lot of seperation to recover its energy. Honestly i get it since both are GroundRB player and not an AirRB player, but c'mon as a lvl 12 of pure playing AirRB, this is just confusing. 🤣😆😆

@@everythingeff6623 hey! It's indeed impressive how the p47 can actually dogfight stuff at slow speed. You can win most average players on stuff as agile as a typhoon lol.

That's why they called it the "Jug".

Both could rank bust. They were both versatile vehicles. That made both of them vital on many occasions to the success of allied air forces.

HVAR are really hit or miss, no pun intended. Sometimes I'll get kill I didn't expect and sometimes direct hits on AA do nothing

@@everythingeff6623 Since overpressure came out, I die by rockets a lot more. Can't say much on the giving end, but on the receiving end, they hurt bro!

@@leeham6230 Yeah, the rockets actually do something now, which is nice. Before Over Pressure they were just fireworks that add a lot of drag

@@everythingeff6623 It's weird though, because YEARS ago, I remember dying a lot from P-47D and P-51 rockets all the time in my Tiger.

@@leeham6230 Strange. Once in a blue moon I'd get a kill with the rockets (before over pressure), but I always found the British rockets did a lot better

Yeah, by all means I should've been dead. Better machine doesn't always lead to a win though.

Agree….Pilot with better EM and SA will win. 80% of all shoot downs were against non maneuvering targets. Did not make any difference if you had a better or older fighter. Finns were shooting down much better La5 and Yak 3 and 9s because they owned the perch. This dog fight was between a war truck and sports car.

That much just be in the gaming world because in real life the P-47 is faster than the Mustang and if I'm not mistaken had a better climb rate.

It's just the default settings. This is a few updates ago though, so the sounds probably got updated

They are HVAR rockets, you can unlock them for quite a few American planes.

I've got another video of me using them, I'll schedule it for release this coming Tuesday at 6:30pm EST

I see what you mean. I thought of that name because the dog fight started with attacking me first, and he had much better energy. Plus, the second guy joins in near the end.
