These two played off each other perfectly. They're almost parodies of the types of scientist characters you usually see in monster movies, and yet they're people too. Their constant bickering, despite clear affection for each other, added a lot of heart to the movie. I was glad that they were reunited in Uprising, but I wish the circumstances were less tragic!
I loved the scientists in this. Yeah they're eccentric and weird but its people like that that think outside the box. It gave the movie an appropriate campy feel.
"Numbers do not lie. Politics and poetry, promises, these are lies. Numbers are as closes we get to the handwriting of god" smartest quote from any movie ever 🤓
I can agree as well, even as an engineer with heavy Christian resonances. Mathematics aren’t just numbers and equations; they are the language through which our reality can be quantified.
"Numbers are as close as we get to the handwriting of god." One of my favorite quotes because, it's so true. I was able to, basically, zero my rifle without having to fire a shot. I just used raw numbers, worked out a rough formula, and plotted the data on a graph.
So they were at one point able to launch 30 jaegers at once, and we are just now getting to the point where 2 kaiju are coming at once. How on earth are they down to 4 jaegers and why hasn't every kaiju up to this point been jumped and easily pulverized to death by 3+ jaegers?
remember the kaiju upgraded, and thus the jaegers initial strength was subverted as they were outclassed in a kaiju-jaeger arms race of power. hypothetically 30 jaegers from mark 1 would not be able to take out say a dozen class 3 kaiju. i imagine that it was whittled down much less than that - say a class 2 took out a mark 1, or a class 3 got two mark 2s before getting taken out, stuff like that - but it adds up slowly and surely. another explanation could be that the pilots got glory-hungry and let that get to their heads so they got sloppy in the field
I’d like to point out that just because they were able to launch 30 didn’t mean they actually had thirty jaegers. Wouldn’t it be practical to build the Shatterdome with the expansion of the program in mind? They only ever made about ~25 jaegers total and by the time some where launched, others were already destroyed
Initially, they were able to field multiple Jaegers. What you are not accounting for is that the Precursors were using those early years as intelligence gathering to fine-tune their Kaiju creations. They went from blunt instruments to specifically crafted weapons systems. For example, they had never seen a Kaiju play dead before or thrash a mk III as badly as Gypsy was initially. They figured out how to specifically target Conn-Pods. The precursors showed the ability to adapt Kaiju to specific Jaeger strengths in this movie. The Class V was supposed to be the vanguard of the final invasion force. Also, decreasing time. This cuts down the time to repair, refit, or even build new Jaegers. IRL, it takes 5 months to build a single M1 Abrams tank. How long do you think it takes to build a single Jaeger? And it didn't help that resources for the Jaeger program got pushed to the BS "Wall of Life" program. An example of loss was the loss of two Jaegers in Sydney before Striker Eureka could put down the Kaiju with its AKM launcher.
what i liked about this movie is that with tthe little info both scientists had, both were right on principle, they movie gived the missing info parts and they in the end ended working together.
What's make this movie even more better? Chemistry between Two Comical Genius (most movies usually makes Scientists super serious) Badass Black Boss (not being a racist but I love this kind of character concept like Nick Fury) Not so "idiot and humorous Veteran Hero" and that "tough and quite breakable Heroin" (super love tension) That biggest obvious things is "Western Evangelion and Angel fight" (Jaeger and Kaiju)
Or maybe travel worldwide in search of ancient legendary creatures around the world. That's my idea for a Pacific Rim sequels, not that Power Rangers knockoff that Uprising was!
but they are clones it's just the Precursors The Kaiju Masters change their shape form and they Keep Cloning and they pit them all in a Fight in the Anteverse And the Winner goes up on Earth's Surface but when Newton Drifted with Mutavore A.K.A. Bladehead they found out his existence he entered tge Hive Mind connection and in doing so Drifted the Kaiju in the Anteverse and Leatherback and Otachi were ordered to kill him so he could never find out anything else but he did do it again and Told in doing so gave them the information on the Payload
The unrealistic part is that scientists are a passionate bunch, even more so if they think their work can help the world. Even with a defunct research division, you'd probably still be able to find researchers who'd be willing to work for them for 3 cents and a pop tart, at least in their spare time. They love doing what they do, is what I'm getting at. Finding funds for equipment is another matter, but these two clearly are able to work with very little.
The Shatterdome if you saw my earlier comment i'll take it back sorry i just wasn't used to this big of picture when i wrote not true i wasn't trying to be rude
Here's the thing: you don't need all that math to look at patterns of intrusion lol. It actually makes him seem dumber that he needs three chalkboards to calculate something that one could figure out just by looking at history.
