@UC8KbB0KHqxLwW41nVoVSkFw Thank you for watching. See my Cadisen C8185G review below. Regards, #WR4K ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X3zqWkPsDCw.html
I would not have paid $100. I agree, for that price, there are better alternatives even within Pagani. This past week I purchsed the green and blue for $32 and $28...I could not be more pleased.
I really think we need to get things into perspective. I picked this up for £32. I am not going to complain about anything with this watch because mine is flawless. I have more expensive watches that have mineral crystal, completely pressed clasp and folded link bracelets. The bonus a VK31 movement as well for that slightly vintage tick tok. I am scratching my head wondering how they even make it for that.
For those annoyed by the loose endlings, I solved it by replacing the spring bars. I noticed that the tip of the spring bar was too small for the lug holes, hence loose fit and moving. Ordered a pair of 0.8mm tip with a 1.5mm diameter spring bar and now it fits very well. I think a 0.9mm tip could also fit but I don't have any tools for exact measurument. But the 0.8mm tip solves that annoying loose endling issue.
Great dissection of the positives and negatives. This is a modestly priced piece but there’s no reason not to dive deep on what’s wrong with it. Now I have a better idea of what to look for. Thanks!
I received mine today and I don't have this qc issues with the clasp and also the bracelet endlinks fit much better than yours. Maybe they've changed it meanwhile. Only one stiff link, which I've removed when shortening it. It is a beautiful watch, hard to beat for 36 EUR IMHO.
Thanks for the excellent review. As always with Pagani Design it's a case of one step forwards and two steps back. Lovely looking watch despite the QC issues. V2 will most likely be a must buy.
If Pagani just took a minute and paused production to do some much needed quality control they would be a leader in their respected entry level into homage. We all started somewhere.
Maybe they should make less models but put more effort into them. Pagani seems to have more problems than usual recently. I was thinking about PD1734, looks good at first. But they made a dealbreaking for me error in misspelling "Water Resistnat" on the dial. And 123 EUR for a quartz with issues is I think too much when Steeldive Tunas, Subs and Willards autos are around the same price and with less chance for a lemon.
Maybe PAGANI stepped up their game. I don’t see the bracelet fit and finish problems and the case back on mine looks well done. I bought mine on the 11.11 sale, with a USA special price. The Watch was shipped from New Jersey in the US.
I checked my PD 1723 and it had the same marks on the clasp. I rubbed it and it turned out to be a sticker! I removed the sticker and the marks went away.
I took mine out of the box and after inspecting the bracelet I replaced it with a good quality leather strap immediately, I didn't even remove the plastic from the bracelet, the bracelet is of poor quality and I would prefer they just put straps on these watches rather than lowering production costs on the bracelet
Don't wish to appear negative, however, this is a budget watch so when it comes to QC, and the level of scrutiny and standards involved, I think it's important to see things in context. The "quality" of the QC will perhaps not be to the same standard as an expense brand. A case of: you get what you pay for....
Thank you for watching. I give every watch a fair chance to; "meet my criteria of being both excellent quality and excellent value at the respective price point". To clarify, I do not expect a low-tier piece to be the same quality/value as a mid-tier, or high-tier piece. QC issues such as; marks on the bracelet and clasp, and play in the links, are unacceptable at any price point. Pagani Design themselves are able to get these QC issues correct at the 100 Euro price point on the PD-1644, and PD-1661; which both have a better bracelet and clasp. The QC, build quality, and finishing, are higher on the PD-1644, and PD-1661. Regards, #WR4K
@@watchreviews4k Perhaps it’s time to walk away from Pagani Design John. I realize San martin no longer offer you watches to review, but buying one yourself is money well spent. I’d love to see you review the new San Martin Speedmaster 57 homage. Or perhaps their 44mm Grand Seiko homage. Regards from Whitesville.
@@quarters-eye8922 "I realize San martin no longer offer you watches to review, but buying one yourself is money well spent. " It is not a sustainable business model to buy watches for review then sell them at a loss on eBay after. The Customs import tax, eBay fees, and shipping; aren't offset by the AdSense revenue gained on the review. I can only review watches that are supplied by brands and dealers. It isn't possible for me to review all the watches collectors request. Regards, #WR4K
Hello to you, thanks for the video! As the bracelet seems to be very low quality, and the watch seem to be sold with a leather bracelet, would it be a better choice then?
Hey there! You are almost always the first to review new watches :) Thamks for your job! And.. How about new Hruodland watch? Could you check it out please? Just type to search Hruodland VK64. Obviously there is Seiko VK64 movement, perfect 38mm size, classy vintage looking, panda option coming soon. Really tempting for me:) Your thoughts? Should we expect it here on your channel? 🙃
Thank you for watching Arsene. I appreciate your suggestion. Hruodland cut me off after I gave their watch a negative review. Therefore I won't be reviewing it. Regards, #WR4K
12:15 You noticed that well. It also gets stuck there. The bracelet on this watch is horrible. It is sticky where the screw pins are, and it is very very light, which means carbon, nickel, molibden are not in specified ratios for 316 SS., and potentially something else is added
@@watchreviews4k thank you for your answer. Good watch overall. The head is really nicely done but the bracelet is really blah. They didn't even take the time to press the bracelet links fully. As you said one can see through the links. But mine didn't have those pressed marks on the case back as yours, fortunately. I think with the glidelock clasp I Ordered for the bracelet, will make it presentable.
Id think this and your last review prove that you don’t just give a Pagani a pass and praise! You give each watch a fair chance to earn your seal of approval or to fail… It’s really baffling, it seems Pagani went one step forwards with the AR and then again two steps back overall… Also, what’s curious to me is that they now used the same bracelet for this and the vintage Airking but used different cases, bracelets etc for their various Daytona homages, which also are all cheaper and it would seem higher quality over all. Im disappointed with this piece, I had hoped it would be better, since it looked rather pleasing in the pictures. Maybe one could give this piece a try with a nice leather strap? Not me tho, I have my leather strap slots filled. Kudos to you for plowing through this review, I’m sure it wasn’t pleasing, and might saving us from a disappointing purchase!
Grand Seiko is all about those fine details and finish, things the cheap homages can't achieve. So you end up with a bland looking watch, unlike rolex homages with very distinct designs. I just think homage brands should keep away from Grand Seiko
Another great video. I feel you’ve done a lot for PD, and this is notable in a slight annoyance in your voice, they’ve properly let you down on this one. Such a shame as the head of the piece is beautiful. But as you say, it’s sloppy work for the money, particularly as they’ve raised their game so much with other pieces and work recently. The bracelet IS a disgrace, as IS the lume and the lack of lumed indices. What a shame.
Yet another cracking review, John. Many flaws in this one, particularly the entirely mismatched and very poorly executed bracelet..what were PD thinking????????? The blue AR coating on the green dial version is an unwelcome distraction. The dial looks really cool....but fails to save this piece. I looked at the other dial variants but the colours just looked too washed out for my taste. A miss from PD. There is also a PD 1734 with a textured dial which looks interesting. It looks like PD are attempting to replicate a 'meteorite' dial look with these ones. The only one which looks worthy of purchasing is the blue dial (this lineup also has blue AR coating on the underside of the crystal, again this complements the blue dial version but not the others). Keep up the great work!
Solid observations and I book you right mate. You should start a channel. I always wait for a V2 or V3 before I buy from PD or SM as they always l, always improve over time. This one is a real let down and love the fact John called out these errors.
Pagani Design cannot afford to make these kinds of mistakes going forward. There are only a few times a customer will give a brand the opportunity to get it right - after that - the customer moves on to a better brand. Personally, I would rather pay 3-4 times the price and get a San Martin. At least with San Martin, you know you are getting a solid watch for the money. Regards,
It would take more money to make a decent Grand Seiko homage. The mirror polish on this has distortion unlike GS. The case and bracelet are rather drab in comparison. But for $150 more or less it’s meh
Another watch by Pagani that 'coulda been a contender', if not for the 'poorly executed' [lume] - [caseback] - [bracelet] - and let's not forget about that dreadful clasp. Come on Pagani, get your poop together, you're better than this! Thanks again for your honest review.
Very erratic quality. Avoid all of them as there is no customer service at Pagani's (either from the factory or on Aliexpress). They simply don't answer to fully substantiated warranty claims meaning that you have to consider there is no warranty when you buy one of their watches. It's a pity as some of their watches are really cool. This comment is based on real experiences, I thought it was important that potential customers are warned before buying so that they can fully assume their decision. With a little luck you can come across a good model from a well-made series, otherwise your money will have to be considered lost.
I don't agree with this. I had an issue with a Hulk homage I bought and there was a same day response and free shipping label to an address in the UK and a week later the money was back in my account. Make sure you only order from the official Pagani Design store as there are a ton of drop shippers. They have seriously upped their game. I used to buy with fear and now I own 5 with absolutely no issues. I had more hassle sending back a bag to Ralph Lauren
