When some people are short on money they get what’s called a payday loan. One South Florida man was told he didn’t pay back the loan. To prove he did he called Help Me Howard with Patrick Fraser.
I'm not defending them, as they are predatory, but if these places didn't exist, where would this guy get $1,000 to fix his car? I assume he doesn't have a credit card, and a bank wouldn't give him a loan, and he couldn't get the money from family or friends.
@pearlsswine True . I am sure bad decisions are made. But taking advantage of a person's ignorance or despiration. For whatever reason. Just ain't right. But the devil don't care otherwise.
loan sharking is illegal so how are they getting away with it or do they have to be sued . If I am not mistaken, their is a cap on what interest rate a loan can charge
This happened to me, too. I always paid my loan off in two weeks on the nose. But these corporations are predatory, and they depend on people lack of knowledge to continue devastating people's livelihoods. Congress needs to put some kind of oversight mechanism place to protect people.
Heres a hidden fact regarding loan shark places aka check cashing places..If you ever notice those places are only placed in poor demographic areas of cities. But you dont see these places in suburbs or nicer neighborhoods.
Lol do poor people even understand what a loan shark is? No, of course you don't. TikTok University doesn't teach such a thing. Loan sharks aren't going to sell your debt to collectors when you decide you no longer feel like paying back what you owe lol.
why would they be in an area where people are less likely to need their services? This is just good business and common sense. Rich people have good credit and bank to lend them money and the broke have the check cashing stores
They shouldn’t that’s the point bjvu! The poor should also have access to credit that doesn’t completely rob them blind. This is what people have been fighting for or decades.
They tried to steal money from him and they got caught. This is standard practice and amounts to theft by fraud. Accuse them of not paying. If they fight it, concede it was “a mistake”. If they pay, the business has stolen the money and gets away with it.
Why does it always take a news station or a lawyer to fight for the less fortunate people? This man did just what he was supposed to do and had the proof. But the corporation still didn’t believe him. I would sue for the stress they caused this man.
Because it's not an accident. They deliberate swindle people, or at least choose to overlook obvious mistakes in their favor. When they get caught, they pretend it was an obvious oversight and are magically able to resolve it. They deliberately prey on the weak and only stop when they might become the prey themselves.
Poor human: "Hey... I have proof I paid this loan" Rich corporation: "Get bent!" News station: "Hey... WE have the same proof that this guy paid this loan" Rich corporation: "We are terribly sorry, we will fix the error" Amazing how that works.
I had the exact same thing happen with Bay área storage in Tampa. I paid my rent every month then all the student i was $3000 behind claiming i did'nt pay rent for 6 months 5 years earlier .
Sir, I’ll see you had the veteran hat on for one bit to another. Let me give you a little tip on saving money.. You do have money to save because you’re able to put $300 away for three months to pay them back. So when times are not so bad and nothing is going wrong put money away so next time when you need it that thousand dollars you already have it.
Jesus said " go to the ant and become wise " the harvester ant saves it seed which are stored in the nest in communal chambers called granaries. Mr. Lorenzo can do the same thing. Don't go to Jesus just to get saved.. The jails are fill of born again Christians who got saved.
Exodus 22:25 "If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury".
💩 like this really pisses me off 🤨now goes into this establishment and shows he paid off the loan but they don't take his word for it because they are trying to get over on him but as soon as he brings it to the attention of the news now it's my bad he was right he did pay it back. SMH
From firsthand experience, I know the clerks in those payday loan stores aren’t math or financial geniuses. They make mistakes all the time. Never get a payday loan is the best advice. But if you do? Document document copy copy everything.
And that my friend is the reason why the us military on all branches is seeing a decline. They don't take care of their veterans but would rather send trillions overseas
A payday loan is just that. It’s a small short term loan that’s meant to be paid off ideally with the next paycheck. Never barrow any more than you need or more than what your next paycheck would cover. Borrowers often take on the maximum amount available and make minimum payments.
This gentleman should request that the loan company send him a letter in writing that states that he doesn’t owe them anything for the loan he was falsely accused of not repaying. The letter should state clearly that this balance has been Paid in Full.
10% every two weeks at 26 bi-weekly per year is 260% a year - would be better for this gentleman to get a credit card if he can and get a cash advance occasionally at less ten 1% per every two weeks or around 22% a year...even on social security if his credit is good he could qualify for a $1,000 credit card...
There is an e employee embezzling money. This is fraud and needs to be investigated. This man needs a Navy Federal credit card instead of payday loans.
No damages.....UNLESS it affected his credit score then he might have grounds for a lawsuit...Considering he is borrowing money at 260% interest or 10% a week, I would say his credit is already done long ago....
I need help here in Georgia because these people are trying to Harnish my wages for an unlawful eviction over ten years ago. They have some recovery people sending me letters and finally i got something from the court. I went there to answer it in the hope that ill get my day in court to address the matter because the recovery guy said to me over the phone that he talked to me and I agreed to pay on several dates and I'd never even spoken to anyone about the matter before. So i think that someone who knows me and knows that i stayed in that apartment and knows about my eviction contacted those people behind me back and pretended to be me in order to mess me up some how because I don't talk to friends anymore. They know why. But it's wrong. I can't wait to go to court.
The key question is, Why should an American Veteran be suffering like this in America to pay his bills? These American Pay Day loans are scamming many elderly and those in the poor community. How can a business charge someone 200% for a loan of a few hundred dollars!
The actual purpose of that scripture in Deuteronomy was that if the Israelites kept the commandments of God they would be the lenders and not borrowers from the canaanites. But if they didn’t keep the commandments then they would be borrowers and not lenders. I don’t know if you understood that based on the comment. That’s all.
Must have receipts for proof. And, I’m retired too and don’t he have a credit card like, I do? Credit card monthly payments is lot less than payday loans.
They were trying to rob this senior. Plan and simple. What if he had alzhimer's or a problem with his memory? They should be audited. I'd bet that he's not the only person that they've done this to.
He is a Veteran- he should be able to go to the Government for help with a pay day loan. But no, money is need to take care of illegal immigrants and other nations at war. This makes me angry and sad.
